The Academic Hound specializes in helping disorderly dogs become well mannered members of the family! We serve all areas of Austin, as well as serving Hays county.

We train puppies and dogs of all ages in basic and advanced obedience, as well as work on pesky problem behaviors.

We offer Behavior Consultations right at your own home. Or, you can choose one of our Board & Train programs, where your dog will stay with the trainer while he or she learns!

Established in 2015.

Although The Academic Hound has only been open a short while, Shay herself has been professionally training dogs since the year 2000. She would love to add you to her long list of satisfied customers!

Business Owner

Shay graduated from National K-​9 School for Dog Trainers in the year 2000. She is a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. A dog lover through and through, she strives to give every dog the love and respect they deserve while teaching them how it can be fun to learn!
