It is quite sad to walk into this store on a cool April day and get blasted by air conditioning while the French doors are wide open. Kauai doesn’t need A/C! And if they claim it is to protect their wood products, then why are their doors wide open!

Acacia Koa is a sacred tree, endemic only to islands of Hawaii, meaning it grows no where else on Earth. Its name in the native language means brave, bold, fearless, or warrior, and it is one of the most beautiful of hardwoods with grain patterns that are highly figured. The native people used to harvest it to make canoes, spears and paddles. This is Hawaiian. It is an expensive wood, harvested only from dead or windfallen trees. It is rare. In this store, you can buy a little piece of Hawaii — a picture frame, a necklace, chop sticks or a handsome little box. The service is very friendly, and you’ll be happy to walk away with a beautiful memento of your trip to Kauai.
