I was so excited to see there was a Kauai location, as we found an adorable sign from the Maui location on our honeymoon. Unique gifts to bring back home. Everyone who works here is so friendly. They were having an event and had 20% off the store, which we took advantage of and got great gifts to bring back to our friends, as well as some cute items for ourselves!

This is definitely my favorite store at Kauai, great gift shop with good prices. Friendly staff. I recommend it!

The store itself looks adorable… however, the stuff they sell is complete junk! I bought a fairly expensive necklace as a souvenir that they touted as a local designer, however, the chain broke the first day I wore it. When I took it back, the very unpleasant woman working rudely told me to take it to a repair shop halfway around the island. When I protested, she begrudgingly offered me a store credit(um, no — everything you sell is complete trash and you are rude and awful and I just want my money back.) I ended up leaving with a broken piece of trash necklace and a sour taste in my mouth. Avoid this place like the plague. The owner/employees have a terrible attitude and everything that they sell is cheap trash.

I always have to make a stop in this store but rarely buy. It’s pricey. The picture frames, décor and signs are all dreamy but I can’t justify the cost on some things. If I was being completely honest, many of their things you could make pretty cheap on your own if you just had a minor crafting gene. Also, depending on the day, some of the employees can be pretty indifferent which is shame. You’re on Kauai… cheer up!

This is one of my favorite stores to come to when I’m in Kauai. They have this location in the Koloa/Poipu area, and one up in Hanalei. Yes, it’s overpriced, and yes, it might be a bit cumbersome to bring back some of the bigger items they sell(especially glass items), but it’s a nice respite from some of the other chain stores(ie: Whalers Village, ABC Store…). There are some affordable things in the store. Next to the small $ 30 wallets are adorable $ 4 notepads. They also have really nice picture frames and fun vintage Hawaii signs. If you’re nearby, stop in.

I’ll be honest, I contemplated giving this store 3 stars. But, the fact of the matter is that they aren’t bad at all. They actually have some really cute things! Things that I absolutely LOVE& would totally buy. It’s almost like you’re walking into someone’s seaside cottage… So, that’s why I raise them a 4th star. However, I would say that this store is targeted more towards the tourists. For, everything is sooo expensive. You’d literally be spending an arm & a leg for anything in here!(not really, but you get the point) For that reason, I hardly ever get to make a purchase in here. But, I keep coming back, in hopes that one day I’ll be able to. With that said, the only thing I’ve ever bought here was a little friendship/good luck charm for a friend that was graduating from college. And, even that was expensive…~$ 20 for a little tiny thing. 31 Unilocal Review Challenge: #14/31

Sand People is the classiest store in the Poipu Shopping Village. I really like their selection of merch, and on my two recent visits the staff was very kind and helpful. I got a nice beach bag from a sale rack — 50% off, and a necklace made by a local artist. The jewelry is gorgeous! I think you will like the tasteful assortment of goods too, so you should go to Sand People.

this is the kind of store that makes the locals hate tourists. they have some really cute things that would look great in an island themed home, but you have to want to pay $ 40 for a coconut wood tea light holder or other overpriced kitchy crap. honestly people– why buy something you can find on the mainland? this stuff is sold way cheaper at Tuesday Morning and Marshalls. i am serious, i spotted several things! Oh, and the people behind the counter were rude– and their not locals-so a big no! no no no no no!
