Kimo’s Beach Stuff

This guy is quick and straightforward rentals. If you have a big group and plan to rent snorkels, boards etc for multiple days you can bargin with the guy. I think the owner is the guy who’s renting out the equipment. Snorkel setup with fins and all was $ 5 each 24hrs. Good place to go for quick, cheap straightforward service.

Kimo was very rude and his rentals are over-​priced. I got a better deal on rentals at the hotel. Got Kama’aina discounts all over the island. Not here.

We went to rent surf boards from this place and the owner was so RUDE! It was obvious that he was not a fan of hoales so we took our business elsewhere.

We just got back from Kauai and rented snorkel gear and a chair. They gave us information in safety at the beaches, gave specific information on the beaches we were going to and were very kind and helpful! We had one beach chair at the condo and renting the second one for 2 weeks for 20.00 was perfect!
I will go to them again on our next trip. Also if you drop off gear after hours thry have a system which is very nice.

I cannot swim. l float like a rock. But whenever we’re in Hawaii — be it Oahu (Hanauma Bay), Maui (Black Rock), the Big Island (Captain Cook’s Monument), or Kauai (Poipu Beach) — we rent gear and snorkel because I LOOOOOVE it!
Our last trip out to Kauai was no different. The surf had been kinda high the first few days we were Kauai (it’s that time of year), so were worried we wouldn’t get to snorkel in South Kauai. However, as luck would have it, the planets aligned and we found ourselves in the beautiful, protected Poipu Beach. But, we needed to find snorkel gear…
We were staying down by the Grand Hyatt, and had driven past Kimo’s Beach Stuff dozens of times going back and forth to our abode. I suggested it just because it was closest (didn’t wanna have to drive to the nearest Boss Frog’s or Snorkel Bob’s). Turns out, Kimo’s was the best choice!
$ 5ea for snorkel gear rental for 24 hours… cannot beat that, and the lady working there was soooo nice! Since we didn’t pick up our gear until 1:00pm, that meant we would have the gear the next morning if we decided to hit up another beach the next morning (we tried Lawai Beach, but it was high tide and too scary, but at least we had the option).
Since we already plan to go back to Kauai in April 2016, we’ll most definitely hit up Kimo’s Beach Stuff during our stay in Poipu! You should hit them up too! :)

We had great service from Kimo’s. Very laid back vibe. Helpful in fitting kids properly with masks and fins. Sold us snorkels for our personal masks at an excellent price since we had somehow forgotten them. Wonderful local business.

Kimo’s is awesome. The service was great, the equipment was great, and it was reasonably priced. The Marriott wanted $ 135/​week for a surf board, but Kimo had them for $ 80 and it was right across the street. As the week went on, we traded in one size for another, traded in surf boards for boogie boards, and all the time, the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend Kimo’s for any rental equipment if you are in the Poipu Beach area.

sweet guy but seriously, go to Big Save and buy your beach stuff for cheaper than renting it for a day from Kimo’s.

I went to Kimo’s because I wanted to learn how to surf! Kimo was great and set me up with Charlie and I totally rocked it! haha but anyway, Kimo was super friendly and gave me advice on where to go to get authentic Hawaiian food. I also met his wife and she is great! They offer snorkels, surf lessons, surf boards, fins, chairs, etc. Their place is super convenient too! You just cross the street and you’re at the beach! I highly recommend renting from Kimo!

The guy working at Kimo’s was very nice. The prices were also good. I rented a boogie board for only $ 20.00 a week, and only $ 5.00 more with fins. He also made sure that I got just the right surf board. I recommend this place for renting any type of gear.

Like the other islands, there’s shops that rent snorkel gear and boards to tourists but this one by far outranks the others I’ve been to. The service was pleasant and thorough, snorkel fitting and explanation of return excellent, and overall laid back. No pressure.
This place offers: snorkels and flippers, boogie boards, surfboards (?), and beach chairs. BTW these chairs go flat and are cheap for the day. Definitely consider this place before you buy your own gear. The one thing I didn’t see here? Umbrellas :/

Owners are pretentious, seemingly hating their jobs. if you can put up with their salty attitudes it’s worth the cheap fare. Keep some sand in the board if you’re feeling adventurous and want to experience the wrath of their bitter attitudes. One star for price…

Very happy with quality and service at Kimo’s. He was careful to fit our masks and fins to make sure they were right for us. While on the quiet side, we found him to be friendly with an easy smile. The gear works as expected and he also recommended several places to try, all within walking distance, if we tire of the beach adjacent to our condo.
Also, my husband was happy to meet the new «hale dog» … Who had just adopted the shop a few days ago. He’s a dog lover who is already homesick for our pooch so he was excited to scratch the pup’s ears.

Owner is super friendly. I rented a surfboard for 6 days and he gave me a discounted rate of $ 70. Also he told me about all of the local surf spots. Rented some snorkels as well for only $ 20 a week and he took the time to size us properly and the equipment was top of the line. Much cheaper than renting at your hotel.

Great people in a great place! Friendly, clean, and a good variety of boards for all conditions. Best place for rental gear on the island!

Great place for rentals! We got 2 snorkel sets for $ 20/​week and a surf board for $ 70/​week. The guy was super friendly. He fitted us for the equipment and told us where to go. Def recommend this place.

Super helpful, great prices, good quality gear. Ignore the bigger name stores locally and head here! The woman took time to explain where not to snorkel due to a big swell coming in and gave me some adjustable flippers because I had a sore foot. Great experience

DON“T RENT AT YOUR HOTEL or TIMESHARE!!!
Since we were staying in Poipu I didn’t want to drive back to Koloa to rent snorkel gear for the kiddies, even if only a 10 min drive (but in the wrong direction, so 20 min total drive) from the two «big outfits» that advertise in the glossy magazines.
Took a chance on Kimo’s Beach Stuff, a small operation on the side of the road, shares a parking lot with a bikini shop (Bikini Hut???).
Kimos turned out to be a good call — $ 5 for an all day rental, very reasonable and the quality of the snorkel equipment was good. And the return will be easy since I don’t have to go back to Koloa to return the gear.
The grandfatherly guy running the hut was very careful to fit the kids because he said it can be dangerous for the little ones to lose a fin out on the reef, makes it hard to kick back in. We had to try several sizes and styles before he said OK (we had 4 kids with us) and I was impressed by how careful he was. And he gave us a significant discount because we were renting 4 sets!

We needed snorkeling gear and we needed it the same day. I expected to pay $ 20+ for the rental, since it’s Hawaii and my cousin and I had not come prepared, they kind of have tourists by the balls (hence me paying $ 150 for a bathing suit when I arrived in Hawaii and realized I’d FORGOTTEN mine).
Kimo’s pleasantly surprised us! $ 5 for a 24 hour rental which included snorkel, mask, flippers, anti-​fog solution for the masks and a bag to keep everything in. The woman that helped us was friendly, gave us a snorkeling map, made some great recommendations, helped us fit into our flippers and sent us on our way.
This place is why I LOVE supporting small, locally owned businesses!
I highly recommend bringing your business to Kimo’s; they have everything from knee boards and snorkeling gear to surf boards and lounge chairs!
All your beach needs in one place for a GREAT price!
