History

Established in 1983.

When two young CPAs left the security of a «Big Eight» accounting firm in 1983 during an economic recession and hung a shingle on a small office in West Knoxville, any thoughts they had about a future anniversary were probably about making it to the first one.

Thirty years later, Ed Pershing and Doug Yoakley lead the nation’s 10^th largest privately held healthcare consulting company and an Inside Public Accounting 2013 All-​Star Accounting Firm. The company has grown from three people in that first office to more than 250 at what is now Pershing Yoakley & Associates and the five affiliate companies that came later.
