History

Established in 1947.

The College was established as the Tennessee Radio Service School in 1947 at 422 Gay Street in Knoxville, Tennessee. The following year, the name was changed to Tennessee Institute of Electronics. Initially, the primary function was to prepare graduates for entry-level employment as electronic technicians in radio and television communications. The College became accredited in 1967 and continues to maintain its accreditation today by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Continued growth and curriculum expansion afforded the College to once again outgrow its name. In May of 2003, the College became Fountainhead College of Technology.
