American Leak Detection provides expert leak detection service in East Tennessee. We locate concealed pipe leaks in all kinds of places. We will locate your hard to find leak in underground plumbing for residential and commercial properties. We also locate leaks in in-​ground swimming pools and spas, the origin or sewer odors. After we locate the underground leaks, we mark them on the surface. The leak can be under concrete slabs, asphalt parking lots, driveways, or pool decks… we can still locate it using our proprietary equipment and AWWA’s M-​36 Standard’s approved methodology. Our leak detection services have also been expanded to include leak detection for the water utilities that provide you with potable water.

History

Established in 1974.

American Leak Detection was founded by Richard Rennick in 1974 in Palm Springs, California. In 1984, the company became a franchisor, and by 2010, it had achieved annual sales of $ 60 million.

Company Founder Richard B. Rennick grew up working in his father’s plumbing business. He helped locate water leaks in pipes buried under concrete slabs using a 6-​pound maul and chisel. It was a tedious job and left a mess for the homeowner. He knew there had to be a better way.

Mr. Rennick decided to team up with an expert to develop equipment which could locate concealed leaks. After much trial and error, they were able to develop extremely sensitive electronic tools equipped with minute microprocessors. From these humble beginnings, the electronic leak detection industry was born.

American Leak Detection’s R&D has contributed to technological advancements in the equipment necessary to find concealed leaks.

Jeff and his wife, Trina, took over the East Tennessee franchise in 2004. They are committed to their customers and strive to ensure they give the most professional, accurate and courteous services available. Jeff is a working owner and leak detection specialist with a degree in Mine Engineering and technical expertise and training in industrial hygiene.
