Weather Master

I would suggest going with any other company but this one. They rip you off very badly! We were quoted over $ 1000 from them for a part and labor. We decided for a second opinion and got the same exact part with installation for $ 290. They also charged us a $ 99 diagnostic fee, which they failed to diagnose properly on the first visit anyway, and never mentioned they were running a special for free diagnostic calls.

Frank Waters did our biannual service call on our heating system. He arrived on time and appeared to be very thorough. He explained that one of our systems is over 10 years old and we might want to consider a replacement. My husband and I discussed it and want to wait since we are having no problems. Frank was polite and we felt no undue pressure as we have in the past with the plumbing side.

I too am pleased with Scottie, however I had sticker shock when I learned that a draft motor had to be replaced at $ 855. For my situation, I OKed the repair, and needed to wait for part to arrive. The same day though I learned the cost of the part was ~$ 250. I ended up canceling the work order before performance, because the usual and fair price for this repair was $ 550. The company has a, «Comfort today or you don’t pay» policy. I waited 3 days from first contact, to initial visit, to cancellation, then had an uncomfortable conversation about a $ 99 trip fee that was supposedly covered under a free repair diagnostic assessment coupon. Long story short, I needed to go with another company to get heat in my house.

Very pleased with Scottie M. He was out twice — once to diagnose and once to repair. Both visits were quick, on-​time, and courteous.

These guys came to my home multiple times for the same issue with a/​c they originally installed. Charged me a lot of money the first visit which is why I called them back multiple times. Never fixed the problem.

Hurley is polite and professional and very helpful. He gave us great advice and suggested we get UV lights for our systems to help my husband with his allergies and asthma, and we are already seeing a difference. He noticed my outdoor outlets weren’t working and helped me find the tripped fuse. Thanks Hurley…

Weather Master installed a Lennox HVAC System 4 years ago. They have performed all maintenance on the system with no problems. All appointments were kept and service people were courteous. In the past, I had a Comfort Master system for 15 years (came with the house — installed 5 years earlier — so lasted 20 years) — and when it developed a slow leak — Weather Master kept the system cooling over 2 weeks while we looked at HVAC replacement options. I strongly recommend Weather Master for heating and cooling.

Weather Master has installed 3 furnace/​AC units in my house in the past 3 years, 2 when it was built 3 years ago and 1 when we finished the basement 2 years ago. The two year old has recently died. I called Weather Master to schedule an appointment. First I was told they had no record of installing anything at my address. After my contractor called and read them the riot act the found my record. I then called back and said that I assume part or all of this would still be under warranty. I was told that because we didn’t sign a service agreement with them to have each unit serviced twice a year our warranty is void. I’m not sure if that is even legal but I do know it’s robbery. Will never use them again.

Horrible experience! Tech was over an hour late, showed up after 6 pm on Friday 6÷26… Tech was rude and acting like I was troubling him because he was scheduled to come out on a Friday evening. Quoted that I needed 4 lbs of freon but I should in fact replace the coil for $ 3k… I declined for a second opinion, in which I learned it only needed 2 lbs of freon and a couple new seals.
The tech directly tired to rip me off! I would not recommend to anyone. Watch out!

Weather Master installed a Lennox HVAC unit in both my upstairs and downstairs zones and it has been fantastic now for the last 18 months. Scottie and the entire field team are courteous, on time, and tidy in their work. I highly recommend Weather Master for your heating and cooling needs.

I’ve been a Weather Master customer for years. I’ve had a maintenance contract for much of the time. Most of the techs do an ok job. A few are excellent. A few have problem solved with resolutions I was highly doubtful would work… and they didn’t. I know which «regular maintenance» techs are going to try to sell me the latest and greatest things I don’t need.
Now for my huge gripe which has led me to dumping Weather Master as soon as my current pre-​paid maintenance contract is over. The «priority» scheduling that comes as part of my maintenance contract, well, how does 3 and a half days without air conditioning in late June sound? I’d say that was «low priority» scheduling. The office staff were uncaring and unresponsive. If I can’t find someone better out there I certainly won’t find much worse.

Worst company ever to deal with. They should change their name to ‘Thieves Company’ because thats all they do. They charged me 319 bucks to replace a 14 dollar t/​p value in my waterheater. That’s after many on-​site attempt sell a new waterheater. Billing department wouldn’t return my call. I have decided to talk to 5 on your side, wral TV station about these crooks.

I wish there was a way to give negative stars! WORST customer «service» ever! I agree with all the other negative reviews here and then some! I scheduled a service call for between 9 and 11 A.M. and was told the tech would call me when they’re on their way. At 11:50, I still haven’t heard anything so I called their customer «service» department. The gal I spoke to said that the tech assigned to me is running late due to a gas leak issue he’s been working on. I told the operator that it would have been nice to know this had they just had the decency to call me to give me a heads up! She said she could send another tech, and when I asked for an ETA for his arrival, she put me on hold then got disconnected but most probably got HUNG UP ON! I called back and the same gal claims we got disconnected with NO APOLOGY. I think if she had any customer «service» skills, she should have called me back herself (since she did have my number) to continue the conversation! For the price they’re charging just to come to your house ($ 99!!), this is NOT worth it!

Avoid this business if you can.
Similar to reviewer Kevin N., I bought a new home in a subdivision contracted to Weather Masters for HVAC. Tons of problems and service has been generally bad. A few examples:
— Home inspector pointed out the temperature drop between room air and the cooled outflow is less than 10 °F and the improper ductwork is likely the reason. Servicemen came and at least one of them proudly pointed out that that’s nonsense and both the inspector and I were ignorant. They went up the attic and came down stating that the temperature difference between the blowing out cool air and sucking in warm air from furnace was 15 °F or so and that’s totally up to standard. And told me again the temperature drop thing is nonsense.
— Rooms not heating/​cooling evenly. One room was freezing cold while another one felt like a steam room. Called them to adjust and without any further inquiry or examination, their service people proudly pointed out (again) that it’s impossible for temperatures to be the same or even stay close for every room. Told them that the temperature difference might be 10+, they reluctantly went the attic and did some adjustments. Things won’t improve at all: basically cold room became hot and hot room became cold, or vice versa, albeit a few rooms are just ok.
— Winter came and happily turned on heat. After 2 hours with chilling winds blowing out, thermostat showing temperature went down another 2 or 3 degrees! It turned out wrong type of thermostats were installed and fortunately, after 1 hour or so, the repairman was, phew, able to figure that out.
— They would try to charge you even your new house is still under warranty for HAVC. First, they would charge a «service call» fee; if that fails, they’d «generously» state that you got a waiver for that fee but you still need to pay service fee, and of course, whatever material/​parts fees.
— One repairman literally told me «I’m educating you» like I’m so ignorant and he was giving me priceless lecture for free. Unbelievable! This redneck (sorry for the language but it’s the most proper word for this guy) probably struggled to get his GED and might get a 2 or less years of tech/​community college education is lecturing me like a Harvard professor? Right, I’m not a HVAC worker and had no experience in heating/​cooling/​plumbing and a billion other things. But what made this person so arrogant? And such attitude is not unique and seems in many of Weather Master’s personnel.
— Weather Master seems to me having a quite good amount of people working there and unfortunately, from my experience interacting with somewhat 10 different persons, while there are some who are really good in their service, both interpersonally and technically, most of them are rude, and professionally bad.
Again: avoid this one if you can.

Crooks!!! Had maintenance agreement with them and they were always trying to sell me things I didn’t neede. My system was only 8 years old and they wanted me to replace it! And when they came out to clean my system they where only here for 15 minutes! Techs couldn’t answer any of my questions either, he just kept says a sales person should come out. Thankfully I cancelled my contract and found Raleigh Heating and Air. They spend quality time checking everthing out and are able to answer all my questions. I would recommend them to everyone!!!
