Business Owner

Is a master of his trade to say the least, a legend on the Outer Banks. When the other towing companies say NO, Carl asks when do you need me there. He started working on cars a hid fathers side when he was just a boy now he is a master mechanic, that can reair just about anything. He prides he self on truth and honesty! Carl Jr. took his father’s place in the company when Carl Senior passed in 99′ he takes great pains to make his father proud. He helps make Seto’s what it is today.

Car broke down on the way back from the beach and we were towed to this shop. The mechanic is slow, and completely rude. He helped others who arrived AFTER we did, before us. We waited a good 45 minutes before he acknowledged our presence and we were towed to the shop using his tow truck. Terrible customer service and doesn’t deserve the money!
The bathroom is the biggest delight at this place! Nice and clean

Called them on a Sunday when checking out of a rental in Duck. The tow mechanic came after 45 minutes and tried a few «tricks» to get our car started without success and took the car to their overcrowded shop and «promised» to have the car ready by ten“ish” the following day. Much to our mortification, when we anxiously called the next day we were told he was not a mechanic and had no business promising any time our car would be ready. The female receptionist was very short and rude, telling me after several calls that they had over 30 cars to be worked on and all their customers needed them ASAP and we all had the same problem (meaning every customer wanted an update and needed them right away – we are all vacationers with no lodging at the mercy of the shop). She promised to check on the status of the car personally and call me back within minutes several times and never returned my calls over a period of four hours. So we had to get a ride to the shop to determine what the story was. Horrified to find a very lax staff and sloppy shop, smoking, taking breaks and not professional or greeting customers. It was a miracle that we got the car back and we were probably overcharged for a replaced starter ($ 450+? for towing, parts and two hours of labor?) Locals say they would NEVER use them thanks to the appearance of the shop and the impression that they never move any cars off the lot.

We had to stop here while we were in vacation because he had a screw in tire. They were closed but the guy helped us anyway. He fixed my tire and then when we were leaving my car went dead. He the had to fix that. Thank you to helping us out!

Very helpful and accommodating to stranded tourists. They could have easily taken advantage of our situation, but actually repaired our vehicle for less than they quoted. The towing charge was less than AAA would’ve cost us, and all of the
employees were helpful and friendly. The only problem was that they were SO busy, things seemed a bit disorganized. I guess if you have a good service, you get popular!

We got stuck on the beach in the rain and found them on google. They (Carl Jr. And the other guy) were quick and really helped us out. They pulled us out of our rut and drove the truck off the beach, they Even brought us back to the shop to refill our tires and gave us directions to a car wash to rise the truck off.

I was traveling home to Maryland with three teenagers on a Saturday from a beach vacation in the Outer Banks when my car broke down on the highway in Jarvisburg. Seto’s was open and ready not only to tow us but promised to do their best to fix the car to get us back on the road. They came within an half hour and within three hours we were driving home. A pump had broken which drained the antifreeze thus causing my car to overheat and even though they didn’t have the part they were able to fix it so we could get home. Everyone, and I mean everyone, at this auto center was wonderful. My bill was around $ 200 which was certainly reasonable.

A/​C went out while in OBX for vacation. Carl Seto worked on my van and fixed a/​c quick. Replaced compressor, dryer and freon for $ 520. I was pleased because Carl is very honest and fair. Recommend Carl let Mrs Seto retire, she was nasty and unpleasant, maybe not the best face to represent their company.

After driving on the 4WD territory in the OBX, my front left tire was clinking and clanging. I didnt feel comfortable driving 8hrs home the next day in this condition. I found Seto’s at 1pm on a Saturday, crazy busy but willing to check out my jeep. The ‘receptionist’ was friendly and led me right to Bill. At first, he thought it was just sand stuck in my rims. He said he’d save me my money and clean them out for me. However, he wasn’t satisfied with this and lifted both front ends of my Jeep as well as took it for a spin. The sound it made was awful so he immediately brought it to the last lift and discovered the problem. For a measley $ 45 I was fixed and ready to head home. Their attention and friendliness urged me to write a review. Its so nice to find someone you can rely on and who treats a walk-​in as a valued customer!

On vacation for my daughters Sweet 16 at Disney. While making a turn in Corolla I broke an axle. This happened at 11:00am the day before Easter. I was given the number of a tow truck to get me to the shop for repair. Bill showed up and was just about the most polite and easy going folk ever. He told me to go on the Jeep Horse Tour with my my family and pick up my car by 5:00pm. Well let me say that breaking down while on vacation can be a bit scary. Picked my car up later and was pleased to see that the job was done well and the cost was more than reasonable. We got to Disney on schedule and had the best vacation ever. Thanks to Bill and the folks at Seto’s.
PS: The woman at the front desk was all business, but in no way rude or impolite as the other reviewer stated. So I am confused about that other review.

I could see where a previous reviewer was turned off by the receptionist. She’s gruff, kind of cantankerous, but in the end was kind of friendly in her own weird way. In any case, I persevered, because I had a flat while visiting, and didn’t really have a choice. They had the tire I needed in stock, charged me a fair price, and delivered before they promised. That’s what I need from a business, so I’ll give it four stars. I don’t know that I’d go out of my way to go here, but they were fair to me.

i don’t have a ton of experience with them but what i do is pretty good in my book.
after we came back to OBX after earl left, we decided (i was egged on by the girls. apparently i fold too easily) to drive thru some of the standing rain water… not smart. it was too deep and yanked off the bottom protection cover of my engine. but only part way. we could hear it dragging as we drove. every place was closing up on saturday at 5 but they were still open and one of the guys came out and jacked my car up, crawled under, pulled the 2 hanging bits off and said ‘all set’. wouldn’t let me pay. and let me know that if i need to replace it to remember that it is 3 sep. pieces.
if anything happens to us next time we visit, we will be coming here (but hopefully don’t have to deal with the horrid woman from the previous review)

Think it isn’t easy to become a legend in your own time? If so, I met a person this weekend that can prove you wrong. The receptionist at Seto’s tire is probably one of the most disagreeable, rude, unpleasant people my husband and I have ever met. We immediately picked up our flat tire, threw it back in the trunk and drove less than a minute down the road to Olympic Tire. Apparently, this woman’s reputation precedes her because everyone started to chuckle at us before we could even finish our question about the woman who works over at Seto’s. Now, to be fair, we may have received great service at Seto’s once we managed to get past the receptionist, but unfortunately for the rest of the business, we weren’t willing to stick around long enough to find out!
