Easily takes bulk cardboard & single-stream recycling.(Check pic for items) Single-stream is great because you do not need to separate items. However, I have read that single-stream can cause things to become not recyclable.(Broken glass plus cross contamination from different items or dirty items). Years ago– they had different bins for different items. I drove out of my way to bring items thinking that there would be a better chance to be recycled. Still A-OK

Yeah it’s really cool that so many people use this place… probably because it’s the ONLYPLACE that accepts most recyclables… Kirkwood isn’t the most convenient of places to get to but at least it’s an excuse to hang around Kirkwood.

Open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, the Francis Scheidegger Recycling Depository makes it easy to be a good global citizen and help take care of our environment. Perhaps one of the best things about this recycling drop-off center is how well-used it is(and actually, from what I’ve heard, it’s so well-used, an expansion sure is in order). My least favorite things about this center are that you have to sort everything yourself(which, granted, isn’t *terrible*, but I was spoiled by the Far North Side center in Chi-town that allowed you to just chuck it all in there) and that they don’t accept #6 plastic. They take most everything else, though, so bring your recycling whenever it’s convenient for you(24/7, baby! No excuse now!), chat it up with your fellow recyclers while you sort your stuff and feel good about helping our good pal, Mother Earth.
