Good people… BUT…
Why are there ALWAYS lines halfway down the cereal isle in the «express» lane on a random weekday?
Horrible scheduling!

I have been going to this Safeway for my entire life and I can’t believe that it has taken me this long to realize how pitiful this store is. Their produce and meat are subpar at best and it is always impossible to find someone to help you. The staff that are there are lethargic and rude. The only good things about this store are its Starbucks and Bakery

It never gets better. Still horrid long slow lines. Never enough registers open. People are not friendly except for a very few favorites which only makes everyone else wait even longer whole the favorites and the staff gossip on and on.

I think most of the review on this Safeway are very harsh. I have shopped here for years and the staff are Great! the store is clean and meat is fresh. The only two things they can improve on is keeping the sale stuff stocked and the fruit for the most part could be fresher.

It’s convenient but usually I’ll end up going to Freddie’s or trader joes. Things are out of stock, I’ve bought outdated things which I know you need to check the date on dairy before you leave which I do there and for instance the milk — I’ve had to dig in the back to find something not expired. A few times I’ve bought wine that was advertised on sale but when I got to checkout despite my entering my phone number, came up normal price, which I wouldn’t have bought. Checkers are slow and sparse at key times which is management’s fault. The only time I get decent and not atrocious service is when they pass out the how did I do cards for the customers to fill out online.

This Safeway is closest to my house and I only go if I’m out of something and cooking at that very minute. What I truly dislike about this store is how long it takes to check-​out. Every single time I’m wishing they had self checkout. Even the express lanes are slow. They maybe just don’t have enough lanes open at any given time.
Selection and look of the store have been fine since their remodel.
Shop here if you have nowhere to be anytime soon, like to write personal checks, or want to visit a little too long with checkers. All nice people, but really I just want to get in and out.

I keep saying I’m going to stop shopping here, but unfortunately it’s the closest grocery story to my house. The shelves are always empty, or so messy you can’t find anything. I can’t trust them to have what I need in stock. I have to check every expiration date because they leave expired food on the shelves. I was told they were going to fix this store up, but nothing has changed. The only bright side is the front-​end employees are great — they do the best with what they are given.

This Safeway location in the Kingsgate neighborhood is one of the worst I’ve shopped at.
I’m rating it based on several shopping trips there.
Impatient and unfriendly customer service in ALL departments including pharmacy, always out of stock on things, a lot of outdated product so check dates on everything including soda, no self check out, long lines with LONG wait times, certain checkers and courtesy clerks just toss your stuff in a bag and plop them in the cart which has caused my items to Crack and leak (I’ve said something before). The selection of food is lacking, and like always the prices are a little high unless something is on sale, even then you have to download the app and items individually for their «just 4 you» sale prices. But when you do go there for their sale items good luck finding them in stock

I shop here because it is close to my house. Spent 10 minutes in the one open express lane just now for one item. Then inquired about renting a movie, only to be told «just because you have a Safeway account doesn’t mean you have a movie rental account.“Get some self-​check out lanes & some customer service.

It’s a great place to get your groceries there is always good parking and employees are very friendly, the reason I didn’t gave a five star is because the do not carry Mexican cheese I’ve ask several times and I have not heard from anybody.

Has a lot of organic and local options. Seems to be clean despite the low lighting. Decent prices as well compared to the local Albertson’s. Also can earn rewards for gas so that’s nice too as long as you don’t mind the stigma of «low end» gas options. Plenty of parking with a few other stores and restaurants around as well as a casino. However I do wish they have self checkout counters so I don’t have to wait with a milk in hand for the person with a full cart.

I was at this Kingsgate Safeway this afternoon and witnessed treatment of an older employee that was completely unacceptable. A 70+ yr old man, my guess a courtesy clerk, was standing at one of the doors greeting customers as they came in and out. He was super friendly and helpful. A much younger 30ish manager approached him and started grilling him about what he was doing, told him he needs to bring in the carts and that «he doesn’t get paid for standing around.» As a point of reference, it was 85 degrees outside and it looked like he was just cooling off.
This was completely unacceptable in my book and will think twice about shopping there. This store .5 miles from my house, my first choice will be Fred Meyer which is 1.25 miles away from now on!

I have shopped the Kingsgate Safeway for over 23 years because it is close to my home. Every time I go in they do not have enough checkers. No matter what time of day! No self check out. And checkers that are discourteous and feel overworked. The Kingsgate Safeway store has not and will not developed into a busy store because they continue to cause customer dissatisfaction with long lines to PAY THEM MONEY! I avoid this store whenever possible. Countless times I have the items I wanted to buy but just leave them because the check out lines are too long. Stop the pan handling and soliciting at the register which slows down the lines even more. I already give money to those I know and trust. I do not trust Safeway to make that choice for me. They cannot even simply run a store with adequate staffing level for over 23 years so I have no trust in them to select a charity for me! I will pay more and go to the Bartell Drugs next store and have a store that respects my time!

Terrible liquor selection. Needed cream de cacao and it was nowhere. Plenty of vodka, rums, tequilas, if that’s your thing.
The one and ONLY thing I LOVE about my Safeway is the front-​end employees. They remain consistent and have been there for years.
A few years back they undertook a much needed remodel and it was lovely. The kicker is that oftentimes you’re unable to find an employee in an aisle to assist you. You can, however, always find someone in produce or in the bakery, or behind the meat and seafood counter. They do have a pharmacy here as well.
Safeway’s deli food is GARBAGE. But they have nice sliced meat and have been helpful in slicing it to my requested thickness.
There is also a Starbucks and a very lovely floral department.

This is somewhere we go due to convenience. It’s your average Safeway, no real issues or problems with it – just what you’d expect really, so it gets the A-​OK rating. The employees all seem friendly and helpful enough too; we’ve never had a problem with anyone who works here. Bonus that there’s a Starbucks kiosk inside too!
One issue that bugs me is that whenever something is on a sale, it just happens to be missing from the shelves… by Sunday morning… or even Saturday afternoon. Kind of annoying.
I do recommend using the savings card and doing the «Just 4 U» savings too even though it takes some time… there are noticeable savings using both. And, you get the gas rewards which can end up saving you $ 1/​gallon at the pump which is nice. Many times there are bonus offers with the savings too where you can get a lot of gas credits without spending the equivalent necessary to traditionally earn them.
In all honesty, we haven’t purchased any of the fresh meat or seafood from a Safeway for quite some time. The closest we’ve gotten is probably the ground meats just because the quality never seems quite good enough to us; it’s worth the extra money to swing by the butcher, Costco, or Whole Foods for these items for us. We have found the fruits and vegetables to be of a pretty decent quality here, and other items are pretty standard and cheaper here than other places.
Anyhow, it’s a typical Safeway and probably what you’d expect from one: nothing above and beyond and nothing way below average. I do appreciate the nice, friendly staff here! They seem to always be working hard but keep positive attitudes.

When did they start charging for either regular or large containers of the ala cart items in the hot case instead of by weight? What a joke?! $ 6.99 for a regular — I don’t want to eat that much, so it was great when they charged by weight, I could just get what I want.

I have been shopping here for my small shopping list for 29 years. If it wasn’t the closest grocery store I wouldn’t bother at all. I can’t tell you how many times I have been overcharged. When you go back and point it out, the cashier just makes a joke out of it. Watch your receipts folks. I think most people just don’t pay attention. If you comparison shop, you will soon find out that this is a far more expensive place to shop than others. This is also one of the rare grocery stores around without self check out. Do they not trust their clientele or what? They have loads of unused check stands. The «quick» check out lanes are frequently jammed full (with very slow cashiers) making them anything but quick. If you don’t like to wait 5 – 10 minutes in line to check out with just a few items, this is not the place for you!
Update: A couple weeks ago I went here for a couple items. They had one check stand open. When I checked in front and behind me there were 10 people waiting, and waiting. When the checker finally noticed the line (about 5 minutes later) he call for another checker. About 3 – 4 minutes passed before the next one showed up. This place is a joke!

Whew. Don’t worry everyone, they have It’s Its now! All is right in the world.
Since getting the Safeway «Just 4 you» and the app on my phone, I find I come here a lot more often. They use special spy technology to give me coupons for the things I buy the most. So, mostly cheese, soup, and ice cream. DON’T JUDGE ME! I usually save anywhere from 30−50% whenever I come in here. The shelves are usually well-​stocked, and the people are nice enough. I do find it odd that they have people on the express lanes, who, well, aren’t very speedy. Which bothers me. Not perfect, but it’s my neighborhood Safeway, so it will do.
Seriously though people, get the app and register your card, and start saving!

The Starbucks inside this Safeway store provided me with the caffeine fix I needed to continue on down the road. I don’t know how much of a ‘discount’ there was for bringing my own mug, though: a cup of drip still cost $ 2.08!
There is an automobile refueling station here as well.
