Hot Yoga

Someone reached back out to me and explained that the gentleman I spoke with was incorrect and they would follow through with what I was initially told. The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because the Kirkland location is now closed and it was so convenient to go there over driving to Bellevue. No more early morning workouts for me.

Only one star because it is CLOSED. Parkplace is being torn down. Hopefully Hot yoga will come to the new Kirkland Urban.

Hot Yoga Inc. is the first place I ever tried hot yoga and I loved it. The teachers at the Kirkland location are great and the classes are varied so you have options between Hatha, Power, and Sculpt. Management for all of Hot Yoga Inc. (not just the Kirkland branch) has gone downhill over the last three years. While waiting for class to start, you often hear employee’s saying negative things about the management, high turnover, and bad accounting and scheduling practices. Not a great way to start your zen experience. It also makes me feel bad for the employees because you can really tell they are genuinely frustrated working there.
From a customer service perspective, its also nearly impossible to reach someone for help that can actually help you. Calling the different locations, if someone picks up the phone at all, its a teacher, who are friendly, but who cannot help and can only «send a note to management with your question.» No one responds to emails and when you do get an answer, it doesn’t matter because the next person you talk to will tell you the previous answer you got was wrong. This is especially frustrating when its a billing issue — a recent billing issue took two months for them to resolve when it was their error.
From a facilities perspective, the Kirkland location is very run down. When I first joined I had heard rumors that it was going to be fixed up but I haven’t seen anything change. Other locations have infrared heating, heated floors, and are much, much, cleaner. This location has had light bulbs out in the room for months at a time before they are changed and one of the overhead fan’s in the room has been broken for at least 8 months.
Its really a shame because the teachers here are good, but after three years as a member, I’m taking my business elseware. $ 110 a month is a lot of money to spend for a sub-​par studio and terrible customer service.

No showers is not ideal for a workout facility esp. hot yoga. Add to that no bathroom with other issues makes doing hot yoga here inadequate.

They are thieves. They required me to buy one of their yoga mats for 27 USD because I forgot mine at home. They should’ve borrowed me one like all the other yoga places do. They obviously overcharged me for it because a yoga mat costs 13 USD at most stores. I would never recommend this place ever

I love this place! The instructors are great and they have a laid back atmosphere.

I am never going back to this place again. I bought a 20x punch card and a couple months later it ‘expired’ which was clearly an error. Even discussing this issue with them was an ordeal in itself… it took weeks to get any kind of response… and weeks between responses thereafter. After nearly 2 months of wasting my time, I have had enough. This place is not worth my time or money. Whoever actually runs the business is totally clueless and unprofessional.
I went here out of convenience because it is close to my house and it fit what I needed but I can’t say it is the cleanest studio I’ve been to. It is VERY crowded and I always leave with a collection of other peoples sweat. Ewwww.

Actually 4.5 stars out of 5 due to the bathroom location and the temptation of having the movie theater popcorn next door call to me every time I walk by.
Hot Yoga is amazing. Teachers are wonderful. First few classes was brutal with the heat. Its getting easier to workout in the lava hot room after three…
After a bad bicycle accident which led to a hip replacement which led to having the flexibility of a rock which led me to HYI… I must say. Hot yoga together with Yin has help me even after 5 classes. I couldn’t put a sock on one side without bending like a pretzel or Gumby on crack. Trying to stretch on my own before core workout at the gym and indoor training classes I would have thought it would help. but NO… Yoga has given me the added flexibility to bend, stretch and able to put socks on normally.

So disappointing– this studio is poorly managed (or not managed at all), they don’t care about the customers, they don’t communicate their schedules, the studio isn’t clean, things go broken for months (or years– aka the fan, the lights, the heaters!!, the stereo). They don’t answer phones most of the time, and don’t have any sort of customer service at the front desk (almost the opposite of customer service b/​c they’re so rude). The majority of teachers lined up aren’t qualified or don’t change their classes or music at all, so it’s «McYoga”– fast food yoga at its worst. Such small changes could be implemented that would highly improve the entire experience, but apparently nobody cares? They even have no-​show teachers, so students are either forced to jump in the car and make it to another studio as quickly as possible, or just miss it altogether. They don’t treat their teachers respectfully either, so they’re losing all the good ones. Very sad…

I always said that Hot Yoga Inc is my husband. They’re homey, comfortable, I know it very well and i’m always happy after i’ve spent time with them.
After a year long relationship, i’m not quite sure how i feel about them. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE HYI but there definitely have been a few changes that i’m not crazy about.
For one, Danielle is gone. Though she’s gone because she’s starting her own yoga studio (fruition yoga), the place definitely feels different without her vibrant personality filling the room. With it, the sense of community is a bit gone too. It’s not to say that the teacher’s that are there aren’t great, but it’s just different.
Which leads me to my next point… there needs to be some more quality control for some of their instructors and there needs to be a way to see who the teachers are for that week. It’s always a bit of a bummer that some AMAZING instructors aren’t consistently there and that a few crummy ones straggle in. I will admit, that with the one complaint i wrote, the teacher responded with sincerity, honesty, and professionalism and it was great, but it’ll be great if I didn’t even have to write any letters.
They need to reinvest some of the money that they are getting into the studios that they already have. I like their new studios, but it’s a bit of a bummer that kirkland only received a paint job. I know the upstairs area is up for lease, could there be a possibility to make it dual level? Have a changing room that has showers or even two studios? because that would make me very. very happy.

I discovered my love for hot yoga here! They have a great 10 for $ 10 deal for new students. All the instructors here are awesome! The overall vibe of those who attend here is very friendly and welcoming. Classes run about 120 degrees, which is on the warmer end for hot yoga classes. I can’t complain though, since I lost about 3 inches off my waste line in 3 months here.
However, this studio is packed into a small space next to the theater in Kirkland Park place. The room is typically packed, and it is not ventilated very well. The room tends to get pretty stinky. I also don’t feel like it’s kept that clean.

My first hot yoga experiences were at this studio and I highly recommend! The people are very friendly and inviting. Yes the change rooms are small, but I go at the busiest times where the room is packed (usually busiest on Tuesday nights) and I haven’t had any problems with the changing room, as long as you arrive approximately 20 minutes prior to class.
Yes the bathroom is outside the studio, but as long as you go before you get all dressed up for yoga, then it shouldn’t be a problem!
The actual hot yoga is great, they play music and certain instructors are so good, they motivate you to try your best! The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because there might be a few instructors (or just one) that are not nearly as good as other ones, but you learn pretty quickly which instructor is good and which is bad.
And for the first 10 classes it’s only 10 bucks! You can’t beat that. It can get quite expensive after that, but it’s worth it! If you like hot yoga, i would at least give this place a try.

This is the first studio that I ever tried hot yoga. I love it here. I have always felt welcomed and comfortable. There are students from all different yoga levels. The studio is at the right temperature not too hot and not too cold. (If you’re a newer student, sit toward the door and window) I also love that they play music during some of their classes.
Downsides?
You have to walk outside to the bathroom and the dressing room only fits 3 – 4 people comfortably.
I also recently found out that they rent towels for $ 4! And it was a ratty white bath towel. So remember your towel!

Thanks to Hot Yoga Inc. I rediscovered my love for hot yoga. Many moons ago I got a taste for it through traditional Bikram and have been to many different studios over the years.
After moving to the east side I found a studio with a pretty good reputation, but too my surprise the studio teaches hot yoga in 120+ degree room (traditional Bikram is practiced at around 105). I don’t know about you all, but at 120+ degrees my body goes into fight or flight mode, because the only thing it’s capable of doing at that temperature is struggle to cool itself down. Flight — I wanted to dart out of the room and fight — since I actually wanted to physically harm the tiny military instructor.
Enough about those guys. Hot Yoga inc. has mostly one hour classes with hatha, power and sculpt (power with weights) with properly tolerable temperatures. Instructors are very chill and attentive. They do rotate A LOT, but I have yet to come across one I did not like. The room is hot enough to feel like you are getting a great workout and are cleansing your body, but not enough to make you want to run.
Kirkland location is small, and I wish they had larger locker rooms, but that’s the limitation of the particular space. You can use the Bellevue location as well, which is much bigger and gets busy also.
Hot yoga has been a life saver for my body since I have a white collar desk job. After only 2 weeks, visible and physical changes take place, and you can’t beat the mental recharge either.

But the instructor is very knowledgeable there’s different types of yoga, this one really gets you to stretch. It was a great workout.

Im brand new to hot yoga, but I really enjoy this place. From the staff to the customers it’s super friendly and no one judges. It’s not a new fancy studio by any means, but its a good sized room (about 35 people), hardwood with glass lining the walls so you can see the instructor from anywhere you sit.
I enjoy the classes because out of the dozen times I’ve been so far this past month and a half I’ve always had a different instructor. I love that I can have that variety in my workout out. Few other bonuses is that it was only $ 10 for 10 classes to start, I can pay for classes and go to any of their locations and a ton of different classes are offered all throughout the day.

If I could hand out a lower grade than «F», I’d gladly do so. I guess Hot Yoga Inc. deserves one star, because I have no way of knowing what the actual experience of performing Yoga at this studio is like. I didn’t get that far.
I came here about a year and a half ago out of curiosity to ask some questions and participate in my first Yoga session. There were two women behind the counter when I walked in, and they were talking to several other women that I assume either worked there or were waiting for the next session to begin. I didn’t want to interrrupt, but I was a customer with money in wallet ready to begin, that day.
I approach the counter and say «hello». No response, no eye contact — nothing. Maybe they didn’t hear me. Hmmm, maybe I interrupted them. I’ll just stand here and wait for her to acknowldege me. Maybe she was in the middle of a conversation with another potential customer. Wait, this conversation isn’t about rates or services, it’s about baby showers and restaurants, maybe I’m wrong. So I start again — «Hi, I wanted to ask some questions about your rates and the classes you offer».
Again, no response. NOTHING. I do mean nothing. No «hi sorry I didn’t see you standing 3 feet in front of my face», or «I’m sorry, did you have a question?», or even «hello». It felt a little like walking into a 10 yr highschool reunion, or a singles meet up, or anything other than a business for profit. For all they know I could have been willing to drop hundreds on a year long session for myself and my entire extended family. It was only 3 weeks before Christmas, afterall.
I guess the local clique is more important that making money at this place. At least on this day.

I love HYK! Yes, I wish the studio was bigger and had a bigger changing room with a bathroom and shower, but I don’t go to yoga to sit on the toilet, I go to do hot yoga.
At HYK it can be crowded, but there is a very strong community and that is what makes this place so very, very special.
The teachers are phenomenal. They are demanding and inspirational at the same time.
They teach 4 different types of hot yoga– the hatha (Bikram inspired style), power flow, yin, and a lower body power class. I never get bored. I tried the local Bikram studios and quickly tired of the same 26 asanas. At HOK, they are always teaching us new things so we can deepen our practice.

although overall I had a good experience with this studio doing the 10 for $ 10 deal, I would never come back as a «real» paying customer. The people I spoke with who were paying regular price, were super annoyed at all the newbies being flooded through the club & how packed the room was. We were constantly being told to move our maps (once again) to fit even MORE people into an already packed room. The room is super small & I swear they pack 50 – 60 people into this little room.
I also think it’s crazy that they don’t have a bathroom in the facility & that you have to put your shoes on & a coat (on cold days) to run across the shopping center dripping in sweat to get to the bathroom.
And the changing room is so small (maybe 6 people can fit) for a class of 50 – 60. and people open the curtain when you are in their changing so people can see you changing if you are near the entrance to the changing room. oh and the place stinks something horrible. You just can’t get rid of the sweat smell.
Things I liked about it: the hot yoga part. Love how hot it was! The instructors were great, and I like how quickly they move through the routine. It goes at a very fast pace. The times for the classes were also pretty convenient. And the cheap deal for first timers, is unbeatable anywhere else!
