Cherry De Pon Yogurt

Update, they are still good but have declined from greatness. The last few times we were in 3 – 4 of the 10 or so dispensers were out. Once is an off night, but repeatedly makes me wonder if something is going on. It has to be a tough business to make a living at.

Update: June 2015. This place has gone downhill. The selections were mediocre, the place was dirty and they were out of napkins.

We were craving FroYo on a hot day and were far from our usual spot so we stopped in here. Flavor selections weren’t good; no vanilla? REALLY? Toppings looked like they had been sitting for a while, the fruit looked inedible. Equipment didn’t work (hot fudge, peanutbutter, etc.) When we sat down we noticed a half full carton of milk sitting on the counter by the cash register. It remained there the entire time we were there. Yogurt tasted weird. The whole place looked and felt cheap and dirty. The girl working behind the counter looked like she’d rather be anywhere else and kept disappearing for long periods of time. As we left, another group came in and I almost told them to not waste their money.
I usually don’t leave bad reviews but this place was seriously awful.

Fairly dirty. The toppings look old, stale and cut up way to small to make it stretch further before they have to chop up a new fresh candy bar I suppose.
Cash register person kept going in the back of the store for 2 – 4 min at a time while customers were waiting to pay, ask questions, etc. I presume to surf the Internet?
Very stingy with the yogurt taster cups — kept them under the counter and hands them out, one per person. All the favors this go around seem to be diet. It’s better to have variety my friend so you can cater to ALL your customers and not just those folks looking for no dairy or no fat.
This particular store is also over priced for what you get.

Hahaha. This place is awful. Just generally low quality yogurt (no yogurt taste, watery) and toppings. Its not cheap either considering its quality.

Great place! The yogurts here are awesome. Bubble teas are average but it is good with the reasonable price! The taro yogurt is perfect. I would totally come back!

This place is lame. It looks really dirty inside, is poorly lit, and the music is so loud that I actually had to shout to see if anyone was working there so that I could pay. Some guy walked out of the back, rang up my purchase and took my money and didn’t say a word. No «thank you,» just nothing. I went to one of their other locations and had the same experience, but I thought it was a fluke. Guess not.

Well all the major food groups for my kids that is (with the exception of the latter for mommy). What a temptation considering we now live within walking distance. Kids went for the fro yo of course. Now that I think of it, they’ll choose that option every single time.
Fro yo choice wasn’t the best but it was fine. Fro yo itself was average. I liked the fact that they listed nutritional info out. Though sometimes that’s TMI. Makes me feel guilty as a mother although as a treat, the fat free fro yo isn’t too bad.
I definitely am going to come back and try an avocado smoothie or bahn mi though I suspect the latter won’t be great from a place like this.

Cheap bubble tea, great froyo selection.
Bubble tea is like 3 stars, clearly made from powder but kinda watered down. Pudding is absolutely horrible, obviously freezed and preserved for a while.
Froyo on the other hand– A+ tastes the lychee, peanut butter and the original– creamy, smooth texture. Not watered downs hefty amount. Overly great.
I’d come back for the froyo, definitely not the bubble tea.

We’ve been coming here since they opened. We have enjoyed their yogurt selection on sooo many occasions. I don’t know what has changed with the business but I can tell you what I have witnessed.
They now are starting to offer Bahn Mi sandwiches. Yes, the shop that specialized in froyo is now the place to also get Vietnamese food. Not just that, but egg rolls and phở are options coming soon. Confused? Me too!
On top of that, the last few times I have come in there, it is completely empty. No customers. No employees. No one there to welcome you, to tell you what specials they have or yogurt flavors of the day. It’s desserted. It’s the epitome of a crap customer service experience and if I had never been there before, the worst first impression a customer could have. I would never return.
There used to be another froyo shop in this same village but they closed soon after because Cherry was so much better. There wasn’t enough demand for the other place. And now Cherry seems to have taken that forgranted and forgotten what made them successful in the first place. And while they will certainly pick up business as summer approaches, I hope they have a long term plan to last through another slow winter.
I’m not saying this to trash the business. I am writing this as a wake up call to the owners. Your business is run by a bunch of inexperienced kids who don’t give a #@%* if you fail. If I felt like ringing a bell at the front to get some service I would go to the cleaners a few stores down.
At this point, we will return to going to Menchies. Better experience. Better service. Better options and quality of froyo. Cherry de pon has lost their way. Stop trying to be something you’re not.

The bubble tea here is disgusting! I’ve gotten a strawberry milk tea with tapioca multiple times, every time they make the milk with powder and the tapioca in my drink was crunchy, also only got ~10 tapioca pearls. The frozen yogurt is all right, but a couple of times that I’ve been there it’s been really icy and watery, but the toppings are decent enough.

I had to edit my review down to 1 star (see paragraph below). I thought I’d give them another try, but it took over 15 minutes for her to make me an again subpar sandwich. The prices have gone up, and, I was dissapointed to see tofu removed from their options. The pork I did get was overcooked, the bread stale, and again, hardly any veggies. I will never go back.
I was very underwhelmed by my experience here. I ran in to grab a bahn mi for lunch, which is a new addition to their menu. The price is right at $ 3.99, but you get what you pay for. First off, I was the only person in the store and the two employees did not look busy when I walked in, yet it took over 10 minutes to get me my sandwich, which I feel is a bit slow considering they’re just throwing some ingredients on bread. I was also disappointing by the sandwich; it was a lot of mayo and tofu, and hardly any of the pickles vegetables and no spice whatsoever.
Their hours are also strange; I attempted to go in over a week ago after noon and was told they weren’t open yet. So if you want lunch, it has to be a later one. As much as I love bahn mi and a cheap and easy lunch, I don’t think I’ll be back.

We order one hot vietnamese coffee and Thai Milk Tea with pudding and bubbles.
Vietnamese coffee was good. Strong, not too sweet and not watery at all.
Thai tea was okayokay… teast kinda burn…
bubble dosent teast fresh… very soft… not chewy at all. Maybe they used old bubbles or cooked too long.
I think, we will be back again for their vietnamese coffee.

On our 2^nd time trying their fro yo, I got a 1 ½ inch piece of jagged white plastic in my strawberry lemonade flavor. I didn’t detect it until it was IN my mouth. Shocked, I showed a store employee who didn’t seem to be too surprised or sympathetic to the fact that if it was a child they could have gotten it lodged down their throat. Not cool. Won’t be back.

This place is mediocre at best. I feel as though the froyo is relatively uninspiring – I can’t be certain but it doesnt seem like actual, live culture froyo – almost felt dairy free. Nice enough locaiton/​ambiance, just real mediocre in terms of froyo product. More colorful sentiments to come sooner than later :)

Not my favorite in the flavor department. Lots of non-​fat, non-​this and that. The general consensus of our group of four was «very average.»
Would go back, but not if presented with other froyo options.

I like this place and I’ll go to it because it’s nearby, but it’s not overwhelming and not terrible. I guess I’m kind of «meh» about it.
I like the flavors, and the fact that they usually have 2+ non-​dairy flavors, so there’s a choice for people who can’t do regular froyo. There’s a pretty good range of flavors too, and you can always get samples for the ones that might seem a bit unfamiliar. And because the froyo machines are in the back, you don’t feel like someone is watching over you to make sure you don’t abuse the sample system (which I don’t, but anyway…)
I’m not a fan of most of the fruit toppings. The fruit looks like it’s been frozen and defrosted, so it’s a little bit soggy for my taste. The other ones seem okay. There’s actually a pretty big range of sauces and toppings too.
Every time I’ve come here the staff have greeted me when I’ve walked in, so that’s nice that they’re friendly. The free wifi is also a bonus.

Pretty standard froyo place — you’ve got your hangout area, your yogurt area, the toppings. The round seamless tile is cool but overused — seems like all the yogurt shops use the same supplier. The layout is a bit awkward — the yogurt dispensers are tucked in the backt, so expect some maneuvering around. However, who really comes for the atmosphere? It’s about the yogurt!
And the yogurt fully made up for the bland interior. All the yogurt is made in house and is full-​bodied and creamy, the flavors spot-​on. Favorites were the lychee/​taro swirl that was perfectly tart and sweet and the peanut butter which tasted exactly like good PB in froyo form. Boyfriend went for the classic chocolate/​vanilla, which was good as well. The topping selection is varied — I liked the blender bottle dispensers for messier things like coconut, and also appreciated the boba and jelly topping selection. The fruit pickings were slim, but all I ever get is strawberry and kiwi anyway so I was happy! There is a stand with about 10 – 15 sauce bottles near the scale, definitely something for everybody.
Overall, a fun place to chill and watch some MTV or people watch at the bar counter and enjoy a frozen treat.

Lots of candies, sauces galore, not as many fruits. Cherry De Pon is pretty delish.
Regular flavors hover around predictable but yummy.

I have some food sensitivities/​allergies that makes enjoying Cherry de Pon a little interesting. I have reactions to dairy, soy, citrus, gluten, coffee, and black tea. I went here for the first time tonight because I really love bubble tea. I asked the friendly woman at the counter what bubble tea I could get that was dairy-​free and she pointed me to the «Flavor Tea.» I could choose between Black Tea (nope), Jasmine Green Tea (yes), or Oolong Tea (nope). She explained that they use nonfat creamer, which isn’t dairy (And in my head I was thinking, yeah, but full of weird chemicals), and then choose a flavor. I chose Honey Jasmine Milk Tea with tapioca. The tapioca was not cooked all the way and was not a good texture. I’ve had better bubble tea in the ID and at Crossroads Mall but the friendly customer service bumped it up to three stars.
Also, I was invited to try samples of their frozen yogurt, which they had two dairy-​free flavors, one that I tried without citrus which was tasty.
*Celiacs Beware: As far as their toppings I wouldn’t go near that as the gluten toppings were right next to other non-​gluten toppings. In my experience, I find toppings set up this way is a recipe for cross-​contamination for someone with Celiac disease and/​or severe gluten allergies.
Regardless of all my restrictions there were some options I could have that would work in the future. Their menu is well-​written and shows all the ingredients, which is helpful for someone like me with dietary restrictions. I will try this place again at some point.
If you and/​or your child have severe allergies similar to mine I’ve looked at the menu and here are some options that are safe for someone allergic to dairy, soy, citrus, etc.
LOW FAT SMOOTHIES: Berry Fusion or Strawberry Explosion
POWER SMOOTHIES: None are safe for my allergies combo
CLASSIC SMOOTHIES: Fruit Pleasure, Pomegranite Punch, or Strawberry Passion, Peach Cooler
DESSERT SMOOTHIES: None are safe for my allergies combo
FLAVOR TEA (without weird chemical nonfat creamer): Any flavor with Jasmine Green Tea
YOGURT FLAVORS *without* toppings (or if they could promise they were free from cross-​contamination with gluten it would be okay): Non-​dairy Sorbet Watermelon, tropical punch, very berry, mango tango, mango
