88 Kirkland Salon

Amanda’s been my stylist at 88 Kirkland Salon since 2011. She knows and recommends products, discusses hair goals prior to shampooing, and graciously respects all clients. Amanda is happy to do what you wish, also suggesting the cut that honors and flatters your facial structure to see what you think. She offers options. And the best part? The experience is all about you.

Well, now I have two good stylists to go to at this place. I needed a last minute color before heading home for the holidays and Julie was booked, but on 24 hour notice they had another stylist available (curses, can’t remember his exact name. I think it is Brian). He did a really solid color job. I did three colors (two highlights, a deep eggplant purple, a copper, and all over dark brown black). He was fast/​efficient, but unrushed. Did tons of foils (so color was naturally disbursed. No big chunks). Brought me some home made lotus tea while I waited (it was weird but totally delicious). The purple had more red then expected but still loved the overall effect. Will go back.

I’m finally qualified to give a 5-​star review because I’ve been to quite a few places in the Bellevue/​Kirkland area, and 88 is, by far, my favorite. I came in on really short notice right before they were about to close, but I had a job interview the next day so I really needed to get a trim. I ran down the hill from my apartment and she had a chair waiting for me. I asked for a fade, which is a guy’s cut, and I showed her a google image of it. I pretty much ask for the same thing everywhere I go, so I can honestly say she did the best job out of all of the salons I’ve been to. It was a complete ¹⁰⁄₁₀. She took her time and did an awesome job. In my experience, there hasn’t been very many times I’ve left the barber with a huge smile, but tonight was one of them. The haircut was spot on with the image I showed her and she even gave me a little gel to take with me. As long as I live in the Eastside area, this is where I’m going from now on. I’ve found «the one.»

If you want a stylist that will actually listen to you, and ask throughout the haircut process if you like where your hair is going, then ask for Randi at 88 Kirkland Salon. My girlfriend went to Randi first, so I wanted to try her out. She is super friendly and personal, and will only take an inch off if you request an inch, not cute 3 inches for 1 inch. She also had to fix my somewhat of a botched haircut from a neighbor salon. I can’t wait to back and see her. Plus, it is near the Grape Choice, so you can grab a glass of wine before your appointment.

I’m the kind of person that gets my haircut twice a year, and then when I do want a change I decide that day and call salons until someone has an opening. So, I always go in with a little bit of hesitation not knowing how the stylist will do. 88 Salon had an opening right away and Katie got straight to business… which I love, I don’t care too much for chit chat, so I loved that she just made sure she understood what I wanted. I love my cut, love that she did exactly what I asked for but also added in some opinion. would definitely come back and see Katie again!

I’ve been going to Nicole for years and she’s awesome! Always listens to what I want for my hair and gives me good advice when I want something unrealistic. Love the salon; the vibe, the music the people. Groovy place. :)

Really upset with my experience here, for the following reasons:
— as I went to sit in the chair, I saw that it was filthy. And there was hair all over the chair. The person in front of me had just had a «quick neck trim.» Gross.
— as the hairdresser was talking and drying my hair, she would leave the dryer on full blast on one section of my hair while she got lost in her story. I kept pulling away when I would smell burning hair.
— overall the salon seemed very dirty and unkept. I was charged $ 50 for a mediocre/​bad haircut, while the services were on the same level as hair masters.
— Julie cut my hair. Too gossipy. Kinda judgmental to anyone not very edgy.
I will not return and do not recommend this place. There are too many other kirkland salons to explore. I’ll keep looking until I find the right fit.

I had a haircut with Julie and I was so happy. I asked her just to trim it lightly because in a couple of weeks I was attending a wedding and I wanted my hair as long as possible. When she was done and I looked at the floor and barely any hair was on the floor, while my hair had style and looked much healthier. She listens well and exactly know what to do. I will definitely go back!

I came in to see Susan needing a color correction after getting all over color at another salon that no stylist seemed to be able to match as it grew out. Every time I went to a new salon to get my roots done I ended up with a new band of different color on my roots or darker all over color than I arrived with. Finally, since I couldn’t find the right colorist to keep me looking natural, I was ready to give up on being a redhead :(But first I needed a color correction to get the red band of grown out un-​matching roots lifted out. It was a tricky assignment that most colorists had turned away being understandably worried that it would go awry. I was able to get in for an appointment quickly with Susan. She took the time to give me a thorough consultation and explained that if I wanted to change up my look going forward I would only need highlights and lowlights instead of getting talked into all over color. She did a exceptional job with a difficult task. She successfully lifted the too dark red color from near my roots and made it possible to move forward towards getting the natural look I had hoped for. Thank you for your help Susan. You were a lifesaver!

Karrie is awesome! This salon has a nice layout that allows enough space for multiple clients, but private and cozy enough for a great experience, unlike the cookie cutter places.
I needed a 20s style up do for my holiday party, and Karrie not only seemed excited to do it for me, but did a fantastic job. She took some images from Pinterest I showed her and did what looked good for my hair. She was super considerate about my sensitivity to certain products, which not a lot of people care about. She took 2 ½ hours to do my hair, which was fine, because she would try something and if it didn’t look right or work the way she wanted she’d redo it. She was really concerned with me walking out with awesome hair and not just my money and trying to get me out the door. Thanks 88, I’ll be back :-)

I went to Mimi to have eyelash extensions a few times. The first time, I LOVED the way they looked. I couldn’t stop looking in the mirror. However, my eyes were very sore for the next week. I thought it was just because my eyes weren’t used to them or something. I went back a few weeks later for a fill and i noticed that they didn’t look as full. She put extensions on almost all the lashes, so I wasn’t sure why they looked different, but I thought oh well, whatever. Still looked good. When I went back the third time, I knew something was wrong. They looked less full AGAIN. This time, I decided to let them fall out on their own and when they all came out, I literally had like 5 lashes left on each eye. I’m not sure if this was Mimi’s fault or if I was a special circumstance. I don’t really have anything else to compare it to, but I wasn’t happy. Also, every time I got them done, the glue burned my eyes SO bad the whole time she was doing the application. My eyes watered nonstop for 1.5 hours. Not a pleasant expeirence, but she is super nice and gentle.

Edgy style on the Eastside, and at reasonable rates!
My hair is half curly, half barely wavy, and frizzy all over. Add in how emotionally fraught it can be to find a new stylist, and I procrastinated for two years when I had to find a new salon. When I suddenly couldn’t stand my hair anymore, Julie was able to squeeze me in the same day.
Julie took time to really listen to me, and played with my hair dry for a while before settling on a plan. She is a sculptor in addition to a hair stylist, and it showed in how she worked with my curls to bring out an amazing shape.
I had a fantastic time chatting, but she also didn’t try to fill every moment with chit chat. Everyone was friendly, no one pressed expensive products on me, and I was shocked at the price when I checked out. I have paid twice as much for cuts that were wrong for my personality, or that I could never manage to style on my own!
I’d recommend Julie to a friend, especially anyone with challenging hair texture!

Mimi is truly amazing! She did an amazing job I’m so very happy with my lashes! I will be back for sure! I recommend her to anyone! She is so sweet and kind! She is the best!

I always go here to get my hair cut by Nicole. She’s definitely my favorite stylist I’ve been to in the Seattle area and I’m glad I found her. She’s does a great job and will definitely tell you what will work with your hair and what won’t.

If you are thinking about getting eyelash extensions or already have them you NEED to go to Salon 88 and get them done by Mimi! She is the BEST hands down. I have had eyelash extensions for about two years now and seriously no one does them like Mimi does. From the moment I got them done I fell in love and the rest is history. They make a world of difference!
Mimi is a PERFECTIONIST and will never let you leave looking anything shy than your best. I cannot even stress enough how skilled this girl is! I have been a loyal client of Mimi for about a little over a year and a half now and I refuse to let anyone else touch my eyelashes.
My lashes are full, long and lustrous. I get a lot of complements on them and many people think that they are natural because thats how awesome I look. I have a lot of friends that get lash extensions from other places and if you have done it for a while some places wont do them as full because they say you need to wait for some of your lashes to grow back. Mimi has yet to present that issue to me. My lashes are always on point. Its what I look forward to every two weeks. When I can afford it I am gonna get them done every week by her.
I know this seems overkill and I come off as borderline obsessive but seriously just go to her and you will understand!

Purchased a groupon for eyelash extensions by Mimi. This was the first time getting lashes and I now understand why people do it allll the time.
It’s been so nice not having to put on mascara or eyeliner :) you can play them up with shadow or very natural look for work (which saved me so much time this morning).
Mimi was very nice, comfortable and gentle while working on my lashes. Only suggestions: Educate new clients on maintenance, what to expect, and more conversation around desired look. And background music for your 1.5 hour appt would make you relax more.
I’ll be returning :)

I see Melissa at 88 Kirkland Salon, she is awesome with my cut and color, I have been seeing her for a few years now and won’t go anywhere else! My hair feels healthier and shinier when I leave, even after color and the cuts are always perfect. She even styles my hair the way I like it, so I don’t have to go home and re-​style it before going out! I highly recommend Melissa for any hair needs, she knows what she is doing!

Amy has been cutting my hair for a while now and I just won’t switch to anyone else. Love that she is up-​to-​date with all the new styles and always gives me a fresh look when I am there. She gives me a 110% of her time compared to some other salons I’ve had experience with in the past. Also always gives me suggestions on products to try out that are the best fit for my hair! I just love her service and recommend her to everyone!

Julie is my favourite… she know what it exactly needed for my thick long hair.
Was searching for a good decent stylist in this area… Julie was referred by one of my friends. I’m very happy with what she did.
