Love this place. Have gotten many great clothes and furniture here. Nancy who works there has been consistently helpful and friendly, however, most of the other staff have been unpleasant to deal with at every turn. We once received an «Are you kidding me?» look and practical eye rolling when we asked if a mattress was available for a toddler bed frame that we were interested in. This evening, we arrived at the store at 6:52, eager to get a good 5 minutes of shopping in before they closed at 7:00. We traveled 25 minutes to get there. When entering the store we were told by three ladies(in chorus) that they were closed. When I mentioned it wasn’t yet 7:00, they pointed to a clock they had on the wall which was clearly set by the them to run fast. As I was making my way back to the car, I spotted a gentleman about to enter the store to do some five-minute shopping, as well. The ladies told him the same thing. They seemed pleased in their ability to say«no.» It’s always worth a visit to this store but try not to cross the staff on guard.

This Salvation Army has always been one of the slummier places in Kingston. Although the floors are not always clean of dropped clothing, for their intended purposes most of the time they(in some places) are. Not many employees seem to walk around to clean up the occasional messes from dropped-clothing. Things are just dirty and old. The floors are always cracked and chipped, and everything isn’t in top-shape. The drop-off location in back(when the gates are open) always seems to be unclean either. No matter what side of things you go with this place, it’s just not right here. I do like the fact that, with the fact that you can get a discount if you buy clothing for college with a college ID, this makes things a little easier on college budgets.
