Specialties

The Shop

We are an old-school art store with a modern twist. Specializing in supplies for fine arts, graphic arts and urban arts (graffiti), Olivieri’s also features a great selection of craft materials, including a string of knitting provisions. We carry product lines that are not necessarily the most well-known or come in the coolest packaging. But they are superior products, priced to compete with the big leagues. In going the less popular route, we give opportunities to the newer, edgier products that customers won’t necessarily find in other more conventional art stores.

We also proudly offer 3-D printing on our MakerBot 3-D printer. One customer used it to produce a replacement part for a vintage model of the Taj Mahal; a pack of teen girls printed out their boyfriends. Here in the store, we’ve used it to make hook holders for our display cases, and we’ve even scanned and printed our employees in miniature!

The Café

We offer fresh coffee, lattes, tea, croissants, gluten free treats, and egg sandwiches all day. Are you wondering if an art store can really have great coffee? See what our reviews have to say!

History

Established in 2014.

Olivieri’s is arts and crafts supply shop and café located in the heart of the historic Rondout section of Kingston, right on the old Broadway trolley line and just a stone’s throw from Rondout Creek. Olivieri’s offers a combination of traditional and contemporary-style art products suited for the pros and experts — and for those just discovering their inner artist. From fine arts, graphic arts and urban arts (graffiti) supplies, to a great selection of craft materials and knitting provisions, we carry some edgy, off-the-beaten path product lines you may not see in the more conventional art shops. To help get your creative juices flowing, we feature an in-store café, serving up a selection of hot and cold-brewed coffees and teas and locally baked goods. We are the only shop in the Rondout that serves a cup of cappuccino to go! And we’re glad to make specialized orders if you like your coffee in just that special way. Feel free to sip while you browse — or relax while you shop.

The Olivieri Family

Olivieri’s is owned and operated by husband-and-wife team, Felix Olivieri, a native of the Bronx, and Sarah Olivieri of Krumville, just down the road. Our son Lilo often accompanies us to work, and he loves to greet customers with a wave and a hello.

Growing up in the Bronx, Felix would spend his Friday allowance on art supplies at Shipman’s, where the shopkeeper took the time to explain each product and its purpose. That’s when Felix first decided he wanted to work in an art store — and went on to work in a slew of them in his hometown as well as in Manhattan. He attended LaGuardia School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (the original «Fame» school), obtained a degree in fine arts from Gibbs College and worked for many years as a freelance artist. An aficionado of 1980s sci-fi movies, Felix’s move to Kingston fulfilled his dream of living in a small town that might have served as a backdrop for a Steven Spielberg film. «Nothing happens to you in the Bronx
