History

Established in 1946.

Biggie’s is and has been family owned and operated since our doors first opened in Hoboken, NJ in 1946. Joseph Yaccarino, a vaudeville comedian performing under the stage name Joe «Biggie» decided to take a chance on clams. At that time, Hoboken was a blue collared waterfront town with hundreds of taverns. Joe «Biggie» would go door to door at these taverns selling clams a la carte from a pail. Through hard work and determination, he was able to move up to a clam cart, recruit his son Michael Yaccarino or «Brother Biggie» and in 1946, open the doors to the first of our now 5 locations. Biggie’s has a long tradition of community and family and continues to strive toward those same ideals laid down before us.
