Sierra Tires & Automotive

We live in Sacramento, and vacation every summer in Kings Beach. While we were driving our Mazda minivan through Reno on a day outing, the check engine light came on. We found a Mazda dealer in Reno who said they were too busy to even diagnose the problem (which would take 5 minutes on their portable computer). So we slowly drove back to Kings Beach hoping the car would not break down on the way. Our resort manager recommended we go to Sierra Tires and Automotive Service the following morning.
We called the next morning and they told us to come in any time that day and they would diagnose the problem. Ten minute later we were there. They were very busy, but they sent someone out with a portable computer to find out the problem. It had to do with the coolant system, which they fixed on the spot, and added additional liquid coolant — all in about 10 minutes time. We then asked for a bill, and they waived us off — no charge. We shook hands and thanked them for their great help. What a difference from the Reno Mazda dealership that sent us on our way, putting us at risk (they will be getting a Unilocal review from us too!)

Hubby took a trip with 11 y.o. to ski in Tahoe. Transmission died. They were towed to Sierra Tires & Automotive, where Eddie checked out the car, and spoke with our transmission shop back in Berkeley on the phone. Then Sierra Tire & Automotive stored our SUV for 2 days in their lot, until the long-​distance tow truck could come and pick it up and tow it back to Berkeley. Super nice, helpful, kind… and they didn’t charge us a penny. That’s how you get repeat customers… Awesome folks.

We live in the Bay Area but we have a vacation home in Kings Beach. On a recent trip up to Lake Tahoe, my check engine light came on. I called another local automotive establishment in Kings Beach (we had taken our vehicle there before.) The other place said they didn’t have time and told me to call someone else!
I called Sierra Tires & Automotive and they said to bring our vehicle over anytime during the day. I showed up and all of their bays were filled with vehicles. They came out right away, plugged in their computer, diagnosed and fixed the problem– all within 15 minutes. When I offered to pay for their services, they politely declined, shook my hand and told me to have a great day.
From now on, we will be bringing all of our vehicle to Sierra Tires & Automotive.

I purchased some tubes at the supermarket for enjoying the lake. After 2 stops to local gas stations to pump them up, with no success, I headed over to Sierra Tires. I walked in and told them my dilemma and asked if they could help me out. The gentleman at the counter offered his high pressure air tank for our use for free! Another employee attached the correct nozzle to fit into the tube and we filled up them up in no time! We were ready to enjoy Kings Beach and relax on the water. Thanks for the kindness and friendly service!

My battery failed one fall morning, and I had not tried the services at Sierra Tires & Automotive. I had not had a car issue in Tahoe recently, and I was leery of a new «experience» after I was «put together» many years ago by the Union 76 station in Truckee. I was able to jump the car, and deliver it to the shop. Although «Joe» said he was «super busy» and could not promise the car by the end of the day-​he did get the job done that day at a fair price. I am pleased that I have a «local» car repair that provided a good service. Thank you «Joe» and crew at Sierra Tires & Automotive!

I was on vacation in tahoe when I noticed a screw in one of my tires. I didn’t want to drive back to Los Angeles without getting it taken care of so I went to Sierra tire for help. I was the first one there so they took care of me real quick. After a few minutes, they let me know the screw hadn’t punctured the
Tire. No charge and I was on my way. Great guys there who seemed honest and reliable. Wish I had these guys in my
Hometown. They would get all my business!!!

Sierra Tire was super busy when I needed help, but they were still able to squeeze me in to patch my leaky tire. They got it done as soon as they could, and didn’t charge me an arm & a leg.

While enroute from vacationing in Colorado to return to my home in L.A., I stopped in Tahoe to visit family. A tire on my CR-​V was plagued by a slow leak for the last 800 or so miles, so I went into Sierra Tires to have them take a look. Although they were swamped (lots of cars lined up to go into the repair bays), Joe in the office asked John in the shop to take a look. John came out promptly, found that the rim was damaged (causing the leak), installed my tire on my spare rim, and sent me on my way, all in 10 – 15 minutes for a very reasonable charge. Good stuff!
