Quiet. Very clean. Pretty convenient. Very clean. Friendly staff. Very clean.
I like clean. This hostel was clean. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ will stay again if the opportunity arises.

Wow! What a great hostel! On par with my favorites world wide! They even had shampoo and conditioner which I had forgotten. Very clean, helpful staff.

This place was great! Very welcoming staff, very clean and retro atmosphere, and super comfy beds! Just be mindful that this is located right off a main road and the traffic noise is pretty consistent throughout the day. If I’m not mistaken they offer earplugs :)

I have stayed here multiple times and it’s by far the most wonderful, affordable, conscious and communal place that you can dwell on Lake Tahoe. Great proximity to the beaches I love and nestled in Kings Beach, my favorite little town on the lake

Hostel Tahoe is a lovely place to stay. It is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was great to have access to the common rooms ²⁴⁄₇. I highly recommend this place… what a steal of a deal!

Great place to stay a couple of nights, especially when traveling solo. I stayed in the female dorm which was clean and in good condition. The whole place seems well cared for, has everything you could need, and is in good proximity to everything. The woman that seems to be running the place is really nice too! I would definitely come back when I’m in the area.

Definitely five-​star as far as hostels go. Super friendly staff. Modern, clean hostel. Well-​kept rooms (I can’t speak for the dorms, but the private queen room was clean, comfortable and very ‘homey’). The breakfast on Sat & Sun was homemade: granola, berry muffins, honey wheat bread. Oh, and coffee, juice, soy milk.
Grace was awesome about giving me tips about local hikes and restaurants to steer clear from and those to try. Location was awesome; so close to everything. They have bikes with locks and helmets for you to borrow.
You can tell the owners really keep this place up. I’d have stayed longer if they didn’t close for renovations. Best, cleanest, friendliest hostel I’ve ever frequented!

All the people I have met here have been so interesting and fun to be around. The community here is wonderful. But if you don’t feel like being social, no problem! All the rooms are very comfortable to relax in.
The location and amenities are exactly what I have been looking for in Lake Tahoe. I consider this place a second home when I come up from the city to ski at Squaw (only a 30 min drive!).

A great, clean place to stay and serve as a base for exploring the Tahoe area. We stayed one night in a private room with queen bed. The room was very clean and had a nice casual vibe. We made use of the kitchen to cook dinner, which is one of the most well-​stocked hostel kitchens I’ve never been in. Staff was very friendly on our arrival and departure. There is free wi-​fi. Sure, you can spend more money to stay in the Kings Beach area, but I am not sure why you would want to. We look forward to returning.

Even if I had more money to blow in tahoe I would still stay at this hostel! Super clean, walking distance from the beach, grocery store, restaurants, etc. The kitchen was cleaner and better stocked than my kitchen at home!
My only tip is to bring a car if you want to hike or see surrounding areas. You really can’t get to south Tahoe on public transportation from kings beach. Also book the shuttle in advance if you are coming from the Reno airport like the site says! I didn’t and it cost me $ 150 in cab fees. There are literally no other public transport options so you will be stuck.

If you are looking for an affordable, clean, and cozy atmosphere when you stay in North Lake Tahoe, I would DEFINITELY recommend Hostel Tahoe. The room was clean and comfy, the owners and staff are great people, and the common space was very welcoming and comfortable. This place is great for a ski weekend or a summer lake trip.

Best hostel I have ever stayed at. It’s small and tidy with great advantage of the location.
Location: Next to gorgeous King’s beach and amazing food joints nearby. Don’t miss breakfast at Log Cabin Café.
Staff: It’s managed by a group of young folks, all of them very friendly and very helpful.
Facilities: Fully equipped kitchen, bike rentals available and very clean rooms.
Tip: Book early as it will get full very quickly in peak seasons!

Most likely the cheapest place to stay in North Lake Tahoe! Great service from the owners. We had a very late check in (10pm) and they were able to accommodate us with keys and bedding without even being there. Very clean room, bed, sheets, and bathroom. What scared me and my man away were the bugs. When we walked in everything seemed to be perfect, but after we put on the bedding and layed on the bed… Saw spiderwebs, mosquitos, and a huge bug crawling behind the bed. Once we pushed the bed aside, we found a ton more and gave up trying to kill them… we didn’t know how many were hiding elsewhere. If you’re scared of bugs, don’t say I didn’t warn you. We left after an hour of staying there. The next morning we called and told them what happened, and though it seemed incredulous to them that we left because of bugs (they are a one floor hostel and in the middle of wildnerness afterall), they refunded us the remaining 2 nights of stay .If you are not scared of bugs, this place is a great deal for you. Not only are you in a clean and comfortable room for cheap, but you are also near practically every attraction in the North Lake Tahoe region.

The cleanest, nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in, with extremely friendly and accommodating staff. A short walk to Lake Tahoe and nearby shops and restaurants.
We got a great deal for a Private Queen room during ‘low season’ and the room was clean, cute, cozy and comforting, as are the communal kitchen, dining room and living room — great décor all around an landscaping!
Free breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings, including homemade bread and a free bicycle borrowing option.

This place is AWESOME. If you’re staying in North Tahoe and you’re looking for a housing option, you definitely have to look into this place. We stayed in the Private Queen room for $ 60.00/night. The rooms are clean and well decorated, the bathroom in our room was updated and the fresh bread on the weekend was DELICIOUS. I would come back to Tahoe just to come hang out at this place again. The people that work here are super friendly. This place is a 3-​minute walk to the lake and a bunch of restaurants (but you don’t even need a restaurant because the kitchen is super well appointed and you can make your own home cooked meal).
Bonus: You can borrow a bicycle fore free to ride around town :)

What went very well for me is they anticipated that I would be late and although I’d not made arrangements 24 hours in advance for a late check in past 7, my sheets, towels and keys were left on the counter and another guest pointed it out.
I can’t begin to tell you the relief I felt.
Oh do bring ear plugs, this place is right off the main road and traffic goes by all night long.

Everything a hostel should be. $ 75 per night for a room for me and 3 of my friends ($ 75 for all four of us together, that is). With a private bathroom. And it was CLEAN, with homey little touches like art on the walls, lavender room spray, fancy painted cloths over the lights… absolutely wonderful.
The first night we got there, we were too tired to go out, so we hung out in the lounge, which had a fireplace, tons of books, board games, a guitar, and an assortment of teas in a full-​service kitchen (they ask that you leave donations). It was cozy, friendly, and darn near perfect. There was also a giant mint patch outside with incredibly fragrant leaves. Out back were a bunch of bikes that were free to rent, but it was a smidge on the cold side…
They serve free breakfast on weekend mornings, and it includes homemade bread with fresh herbs, muffins (homemade), granola (also homemade!), milk and coffee – prepared, I think, by two of the wonderful ladies who operate the place, Syd (sp?) and Devon. I had a blast talking to Devon one morning, and she had about a million recommendations for things to do around Lake Tahoe – she was very down-​to-​earth, clearly cared about the area, and clearly liked chatting with tourists. She was telling me that they converted the place over from an old roach motel, which explains how well cared-​for the place looked.
Also – they seem to take credit cards now? They were working with a new system that used an iPad and a Square-​type device. My friend handled the payment, so I’m not 100% sure.
Absolutely delightful, and I imagine it books up later in the season (and during the winter) – I’m glad that we snagged a room!

The heater in our room made a pretty terrible clinking sound and the beds could have been better but, for the price, you can’t beat it!

I’m reluctant to leave a 5-​star review because I want to keep this a secret, but that would be selfish. This place is awesome. I stayed there for a week in November in order to scout places to stay for the season, and I had a blast. Met a lot of fun people and got mixed into all sorts of antics with the casinos.
I call this place a «smart hostel» in that it’s got wi-​fi and other excellent amenities, like a fleet of bikes for people to stay with. The mens’ dorms aren’t cramped with 8 beds (they’re just 4), and the lounge is clean and very homey. It’s very easy to just settle in here and call this your home base.

This was an excellent hostel. I fear that my review will make it more difficult to reserve a spot, but I think they deserve more customers. Bedding and bathroom are no frills but clean and in working order. Included in your room price, you get a nice simple breakfast as well (juice/​coffee/​tea, homemade muffins/​bread/​jam, granola and milk, etc…).
Standard room is dorm style — you will be sharing one of four bunk beds in a room with others. So make sure it take standard precautions when rooming with strangers (keep valuables near by and beware of SNORERS! so bring earplug). In general, most of the people are friendly Europeans (where hostels are extremely common).
If this scares you… or if you have a mixed gender group (each dorm room is assigned to be male or female only to avoid issues) go for the Private Queen or Private Family rooms, which are more like a standard hotel rooms. Still incredibly cheap compared to other hotels.
Rooms are relatively small, but clean and have an in-​unit bathroom. However, there is a very comfortable common area with several couches and chairs, a kitchen with gas stove and counter table, as well as a dining room with several seats (all for communal use). There is free wifi and a computer terminal there as well.
You’ll often meet a lot of cool people there. During my one-​night stay I met a New Zealander (aka a Kiwi), two Germans, and two backpackers from Austin, TX.
At the moment the place is CASH ONLY, but they are working on accepting credit cards.
