King RC is a full service hobby shop in King, North Carolina. We stock a large selection of radio controlled cars, trucks, airplanes and helicopters. We also stock trains, slot cars and plastic models. We have a full line of parts and accessories availiable.

History

Established in 1980.

I started King R/​C in 1980 when I lost my FAA Physical and could no longer be a corporate pilot. I started in 100 sq ft and used a lot of my own items, and wanted to have the parts needed along with fuel and props. Added kits and radios and while waiting for customers started building kits for sale. Grew through different locations and found space in Five Forks Village shopping center with 1800 sq ft

I entered modeling in 1947 with control line stayed with it until college in 1954 where learned to fly and received my private license. Obtained my ratings and was fortunate enough in 1967 to get a job as co-​pilot in Twin Beech and got my ATP. Our company bought a Swearing Merlin II and in 1969 move to another company as chief pilot and in 1968 we obtained a DH 125 Jet which I flew until 1980 when I had a blood vessel enlarge in my brain fixed but could not fly anymore so started King R/​C
