DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelpia Valley Forge

I attended a conference over the weekend that was hosted at the Doubletree Valley Forge. We received exceptional service by the hotel staff the entire stay. The hospitality given by the front desk and catering manager receives a 5 star rating. The conference was a success thanks to the quality of the venue. Thanks again DoubleTree Valley Forge!

Stayed here for a week on business travel and pretty much everything went smoothly. They give you a hot cookie upon checking in (and of course you can ask for more from the front desk) which is really nice given the weather in Pennsylvania in early January. The rooms were clean, the heater worked pretty quickly (though were a bit loud but I’m not expecting heating to be silent) and the fitness center (free weights, 6ish treadmills, and an all-​in-​one machine) was open ²⁴⁄₇ though it wasn’t always maintained (didn’t have water).
One note on the Wifi, it was free but you need to refresh the session every single day which is quite annoying if you’re staying more than 1 – 2 days.
The mall being 5 minutes away along with the bar + restaurant they had on the first floor made dining very easy as well.

My company’s holiday party was held in their banquet area earlier in the month. It was a short drive from the office, so a large caravan of cars headed down the road to the hotel for our luncheon. Fortunately, it was easy to find and their parking lot had plenty of space.
While the banquet area does look a bit outdated at this point, it served its purpose well. Our buffet-​style meal was well-​organized and servers were constantly refreshing our water glasses.
I took a quick stroll through the hotel on my way out and the lobby is very nice. I’d recommend this hotel — based on what I saw — for future events or to stay in a prime location in KOP. It’s super close to the mall, after all!

Update: The best day, the charge was removed from my card. The rep I initially spoke with did not know that refunds can only be applied at the end of the day when the register is closed out, as it was explained to me by the supervisor. The supervisor (Jerome White) was very helpful in resolving the matter. Added a star to my review.

I booked this hotel for a little quick getaway, but NEVER AGAIN. In all fairness, the actual room was okay minus the dirty refrigerator and large amount of dust and debris behind the TV. Usually I don’t look behind the TV but because I was trying to plug in cords to a DVD player, it caused me to look there.
Everything was going okay until after I checked out and actually looked at the receipt I was given. My mistake was I didn’t look at the receipt until after I left. The receipt showed misc. charges labeled «state and local occupancy» tax. The odd thing is that I had only used my debit card to rent their refrigerator for the weekend (the hotel doesn’t have refrigerators in the rooms). Those were the only charges I authorized on that card, because I had already provided a credit card for the room stay and incidentals. When I called the hotel to inquire about the charges, I was transferred to a voicemail for the financial director, Tom. After Tom didn’t call back, I called the hotel again later that day and spoke with a manager. He explained that the charges were an accident and they would be refunded between 3 – 5 days. Day 5 came and still no refund, so I put in a report with the hotel. As a result, they sent me an email that «after reviewing your file, the hotel has made contact with you and explained the authorization hold placed on your credit card as well as the timeframe». However, this is a lie because the timeframe has come and passed and still no refund.
I’m now a week and a day since I checked out and still no refund, the financial director hasn’t called me back and I have no clue as to when I will see the charges reimbursed to my account.
This is unacceptable and unprofessional!!!
I will never again stay at this hotel, because of their poor customer service. I was given a promise about my money being refunded and that hasn’t happened, and I still haven’t received a return call from anyone at the hotel itself.
If you choose to stay here don’t rent the refrigerator and beware of what charges they put on your card!!!

First off, them cookies… terribly DELICIOUS! My stay here was pleasing. It’s in a great neighborhood and easy to get to from 76. It’s a few minutes from the wonderful King of Prussia mall and I also managed to find some hidden gems venturing unto the neighboring city of Norristown.
With regards to the hotel, the employees are all pleasant, my room was serviced well, shower clean, water nice and hot and I slept like a baby. I visit Philly quite often and I am definitely making this my go to hotel when I wanna spend the night outside of the busy city.

First off, the rooms are nice. Beds are great. Showers are a bit small, but I’m 6’3. Very happy with convenience shop.
Staff is fantastic. Jerome will have a long career in hospitality management. I was singularly impressed by him. Polite, friendly, and very customer forward. If my direct reports had half of his customer service I’d be a richer man. Double tree, get him a team to lead. If he already is, give him a bigger one. I travel to kop about 10 weeks a year and he is one of the finest in his field, guaranteed.
Now, this is not the staff’s fault, but the internet has got to step its’ game up. It is 2015. There are competing options literally more than 50x faster st other hotels that is not an upcharge. Even the paid internet is not great.
Also, the parking is a poor design and there is no close parking at all. The size of the hotel exacerbates this problem. I stayed on an upper floor and I had to plan 10 – 15 min to get to my car.
Those two things probably aren’t a big deal if you only plan to stay here for a night or two. But if you’re like me and stay 6 to 10 nights, these issues become more important. things like the Internet are becoming central to where I choose to stay now.

Upon filling out my latest stay comment with double tree, they called me back. They first offered 51% off my stay. I was satisfied and grateful I got anything back. Later in the week, I received another call from them to see whether any one contacted me. After I explained that I was offered the 51%, the woman proceeded to apologize and inform me that they will give me the entire stay free of charge. I didn’t expect it and loved the way they handled it. Customer service is excellent.

The staff that was here when I checked in the day before was phenomenal. Very attentive and charismatic. The following day at the restaurant inside Three 01, the staff (Sheri) was impatient and rude. The waitress did not want to help us and had an attitude when she did. Claimed the credit card machine did not work. Went to use atm and it was down and the gentleman at the desk told me to walk across the street. My coworker informed me the credit card was back up. I then handed the waitress my card to pay. She made me walk around to her area to sign and did not hand me my card or my receipt back. WORST. EXPERIENCE. EVER. I would not recommend anyone to eat at this restaurant which sucks because the food was actually quite good even though it took 20 minutes to make 8 wings.

Meh… nothing special… stayed three nights… this is a lower end Hilton property. The hotel is awkwardly constructed with a parking lot quite a long hike away from the hotel front entrance and then another long hike to our room. Hotel keys kept deactivating so we had to make several trips back and forth from our room to front desk and back to our rooms again. Maid service did not come on the 2^nd day. Only positives were a friendly breakfast staff and decent location close to KOP Mall. The property is underwhelming. There are better options in the area.

I would appreciate the 50 dollar credit to my credit card under my last name. The website was misleading about the dog friendly part. My father being a hilton honors member I would think u would be a bit more accommodating… the room service was great, the front desk was not very friendly; but the inital woman who took my reservation was extremely friendly. Even paid the extra money for the «double points». «Double points charge for one night and then a 50 dollar pet fee; which should be more of like a security deposit. The dog was Great and didn’t ruin a thing, so if you want hilton honors members returning I would change that rule. Just a suggestion. Good room service and comfortable bed… some staff wonderful, others not so much.

I really like this hotel. It was my first time staying in a Double Tree. Front desk was really friendly and check-​in was fast. The complementary chocolate chip cookies were delicious. My only negative will be the pool. You have to pass the hotel lobby and the restaurant every single time you want to go. Parking is free and this hotel is literally 2 minutes from the King of Prussia Mall. Definetely will stay there again.

I stayed at the DoubleTree Valley Forge for 5 days/​nights and had a great experience. The associates are very friendly and helpful. Corey in guest services was especially helpful in assisting me getting to different locations. The hotel is located near the King of Prussia Mall and the Valley Forge National Park. The breakfast buffet is well worth it at Three01 and t. burkes has good food. I had the meatloaf and it was EXCELLENT.
If you like a shower with high water pressure and plenty of hot water on the upper floors, this hotel will deliver. This hotel is definitely worth checking out.

OK so… my husband and I arrived at this hotel after a 10 hour ride from North Carolina on Thursday June 19. It was hot and I was ready to get clean. We got to our room and I was surprised to see that there was no tub, only a stand up shower. Ok, I was really looking forward to soaking in a tub but that was fine. I just needed a shower cap so I called and requested a shower cap. I was assured that one would be right up. Half an hour later, no cap. So I went downstairs and spoke to the front desk clerk. He said there were no shower caps at the front desk. He would have to have room service bring me one… ok, I went back upstairs. Still no shower cap so my husband helped me fashion one out of the plastic bag that goes in the ice bucket.
(Now I know a question would be «why not just wash your hair?» I overprocessed it with highlights, it’s breaking off and I can’t wash it more than once a week or it comes out in clumps, that’s why. DON’T overdo it with the highlights, this could happen to you!)
Back to the story, my husband were leaving the hotel that evening for dinner (still the 19^th) and I stopped by the front desk to A. apologize for being snippy with the front desk clerk earlier and to ask why I hadn’t received a shower cap. i was assured that one would be taken to my room while we were out. We come back that night — SURPRISE– no shower cap.
The next day, I woke up and took a bird bath since a shower was out and my husband and I went downstairs and i wanted to speak to a manager but one wasn’t available. The front desk clerk asked if there was anything they could help me with and I explained the situation and she apologized and said she would send the shuttle driver to Walgreens to get me one. Apparently, the hotel was out and no one bothered to tell me that. So I went back upstairs to wait. While I was downstairs talking to front desk, my husband happened to see a housekeeper go by so he asked for a shower cap for me and BAM. she gave me one. The director or the hotel called and apologized profusely and said she was giving us 1000 points on our rewards card and would bring my shower cap to me. I still never got the one from Walgreens. Thank God my husband stopped the housekeeper cart.
NO WORRIES,…I bought my own cap later on. Today is Friday, we got back to the hotel at about 9:20. I called 0 to request towels and was told they’d be right up. It’s now 10:30 and wouldn’t you believe it… I have received no towels. I guess I have to go buy my own towels also.
Also the outlets spark every time I plug or unplug something. There’s a card with TV channels listed on them… only about 5 of them actually work.
I cannot wait to check out tomorrow. My husband and I love this area. We come visit from NC often but we will never stay here again. In fact, I’m not sure if I’ll ever stay at another DoubleTree at all. This place has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

This hotel was conveniently located in the King of Prussia area, with easy access to/​from the Dekalb Pike.
The hotel’s intersection with the main road has its own stoplight, so being able to get onto both directions of the road is quite easy. Upon entering, you will find a ton of parking spaces, some of which can become a bit of a distance from the main entrance. I arrived at almost 11PM and had no problem finding parking. There was clearly far more spaces than necessary, but no needless circling through the lot to try and secure a spot.
The staff at reception was quite friendly and very helpful in informing me of the amenities of the hotel, as it was my first visit to this location. I successfully resisted the cookie, customary with the Doubletree brand. The room was spacious and the bathroom had a beautiful walk-​in shower with excellent water pressure and plenty of space in the shower for toiletries. I enjoyed my brief, one-​night stay, at this hotel and would use it again for travel in KoP.

One word before I continue — COOKIE *in the voice of Cookie Monster*.
Every time I spend my nights at a DoubleTree I anticipate the front desk’s cookie question. Um, yeah please. Chocolate chip walnut cookie (not sure if all DT offers the same type of cookie). Soft moist chewy engaging siren of a carby piece. Paired well with this hotel’s offering of the Coffee Bean chamomile tea. So excite to see CB here. Good job!
As mentioned above, they offer Coffee Bean English breakfast and chamomile teas in the rooms along with the CB morning blend coffees. Nestlé coffee-​mate original creamers should be fine for most.
Appreciate the daily 2 free bottled waters too. I haven’t seen the Kala Falls spring water brand since our stay at the Miami Sofitel. Sweet.
The Crabtree and Evelyn citron honey & coriander line is in the bathroom. The scent is par for guys ‘n gals.
I personally prefer a walk-​in shower instead of a bathtub so I was pleased. How fortunate!
After reading other reviews, I guess the stars were in our favor to have a quiet night’s sleep maybe because we were at the end unit/​corner of the hotel. ‘Twas silent, y’all. Good thing too since he had to get up über early.
Just minutes away is the King of Prussia mall (KOP baby). Like 2 minutes for serious by car. Take a left out on the pike then it’s to your right.
If gambling tickles your fancy then there’s Valley Forge Casino über close to both the hotel and the KOP mall.
This hotel will also be a great location once the new Target store opens around July. Seriously, it’ll be a convenient stop for future busy travelers. When looking from the hilly parking lot, I saw the beautiful Target sign. Lucky DT guests would benefit much in case anything is forgotten.

The best part of the room was the shower… gorgeous and great water pressure. Everything else left something to be desired. The room service cheesesteak with «wiz» was the worst thing ever. First of all, it wasn’t wiz, just a gloopy, gross yellow blob on top of semi-​rancid beef and stale bread. The fries were soggy. And it cost me 15 bucks. I didn’t eat anything but the pickles. Throughout the night I was woken by my neighbors. I could hear them flush! One guy exclaimed «Hey, LET ME IN» sometime in the evening. I could hear everything in the hall and even heard the people above me get up around 5 am. The location is fine, but for a business traveler, the most important things a hotel can offer are 1. easy access to decent food, and 2. a good night’s sleep. I got neither. I’m giving an extra star for the free cookie on arrival, because damn, it was pretty good.

Certain difficult passages in the journey of life can not be avoided; they can only be endured. So it is with continuing professional education. I pretend to listen; they pretend to teach.
Dolce offered this captive student a decent bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant. My burden was lifted ever so gently by the consumption of bacon.

This is a limited review of this hotel but the customer service was so astoundingly superb that I am compelled to write this review.
I had a business appointment at the bar on Saturday so I rolled in about 2:15. I had not been to this property in years. At one time it was a Hilton and now it’s their Doubletree brand. As I entered the lobby and began to look around for the bar a friendly manager approached me to help. I don’t think I was standing there for five seconds before I was assisted.
The bar has the somewhat unusual name of T. Burk’s. It was large with modern décor and nicely appointed. As this was Saturday afternoon it was quiet. Once again I received instant friendly service by a competent bartender. When my guest arrived a short time later she was treated equally efficiently.
Throughout my stay of about ninety minutes it was interesting to observe the attitude of every hotel employee I saw. If I made eye contact for any reason there was an instant smile and I was asked I could be helped in any way. I was very impressed. Kudos to management for their hiring/​training practices!

I am a Hilton Diamond member and love the Doubletree brand. It’s probably the cookies at some of them but this one is so nice that I could possibly even forgo them and still be a fan.
They gave us a junior king suite on the top floor. There’s a skylight in my living room. The TV in the bedroom isn’t working but the one in the living room is ok. I’ll give them the heads up on my way to work this morning and see how they do with a problem. The beds are really nice and there’s lots of different pillows so that we could pick our favorite fill content.
It’s really close to a lot of fun shopping and food. The rates are really pretty fair and I am really happy there’s another Hilton brand around where I do business here every year. I hope the rates stay around this level so I can come back here next year.
