Avalon Flooring

Ok, ready for this… this is going to seem like a joke, but, it is my experience at Avalon Flooring in KofP. We went to Avalon Flooring & Tile in King of Prussia because our general contractor recommended them. Here is my experience thus far…
Saturday, Day 1– Go into the store and pick out Subway Tile for Kitchen Backsplash, Grout and a 5×8 Indoor/​Outdoor Rug for under our Kitchen table. We spent an extensive amount of time picking these out. We selected a rug by Capel; White Wicker with a Green paisley border. We paid and left. My husband drove to NJ on Monday to pick up the tile so our contractor could install it on Monday. All fine at this point. Tile is nice and works. Our contractor asks why we bought the $ 30 grout instead of the $ 7 grout. I tell him we jus thought grout. There was no mention of there being several to choose from, we were not given an option.
Tuesday, Day 2– I went into the store to find out when our rug would be in and to order a 9×12 rug for our living room. Spoke to the manager. Discovered on this day there was NO record of our 5×8 rug ever being ordered on Saturday. Even though we specifically had the sales person pull the rug down and we showed him which pattern we wanted on the border (which was not the same border as the rug sample in the store). Ok, so now I have to order the rug again… time lost.
I speak with the manager, he kindly offers a 10% discount. Ok, thank you, I just want my rugs. We have all new hardwood floors that I want protected. I show the manager the rug in the store that we want but we want a different border… we want White Wicker with a Green paisley pattern, I show him the pattern border we want (which is a swatch on their block of patterns). He apologizes profusely for the rug not getting ordered on Saturday. Thank you, but, I just want my rug. He tells me the pads are in store and I can pay and pick them up when I pick up my rugs… I say «No thank you. I want to pay for these now, to ensure I will have them when I pick up my rugs.» He says he will order this rug, and I give him the info on the 9×12 rug as well. I pay for the rugs and off I go.
A week later, Day 3: I call to find out when my rugs will be in and am told the 5×8 rug is in. Sales person proceeds to tell me they didn’t order this rug, that it is hanging in their store and they are giving me that one. I am confused… the rug in their store isn’t even the correct damn pattern on the border! Ok, now I am really getting angry! He apologizes and tells me he will order the rug! He also tells me they don’t have any more pads as they were «really busy and sold out». Ugh! Really?
A few days later, Day 4: I stop in the store to make sure the correct rugs are on order, etc. All appears to be okay.
Another week goes by, Day 5: I call and my 5×8 rug is in. I pick it up, get it home and it has a double pattern border. The outer pattern is the pattern I selected, however, it has a second border on the inside that is a completely different color. Where the heck did this second pattern border come from??? I am going out of my mind. Really? I mean really? Is it that difficult to order a rug???
Now I called the store and no one seems to want to speak with me. Apparently they are delivering my 9×12 rug on Tuesday. I will keep you posted on the situation. As you can tell, dealing with Avalon Flooring & Tile has been extremely frustrating. No one seems to know what the heck they are doing. No one is accountable. To be continued. Thanks! Although the salesman was very helpful in guiding us to choose Cortec Luxury Engineered Vinyl floor for our remodel project, we are very dissatisfied with the customer service at Avalon.
We have some issues with the flooring such as faded planks, and gaps appearing between some of the planks. After sending photos of the floor to one of the employees, and after several phone calls, we still have no reply from management, which was promised.
Also, I contacted US Floors who makes the Cortec product and after 9 days, have NO REPLY. This is not a good way to run a business. Buyer Beware.

I felt that the customer service was very poor on the Sunday afternoon that I went to this store. I had researched a carpet I liked and went on line to look at it and the company that makes it led me to a $ 500 coupon for the carpet at Avalon. I came in and showed them the coupon asking help in finding that carpet and i was prepared to make my purchase with them. The woman at the desk immediately said that doesn’t mean you get $ 500 off and I said that is fine, I just would like to find the carpet and see it and a man just pointed to the Mohawk carpet section, but did not offer to assist me at all. We started to look for it ourselves, but felt with this attitude, we would just go up the road to Floor USA where we were received great customer service and plan to buy this carpet and flooring for our other rooms.
I want to ad an addendum that the manager Tom called to ask what happened, apologized and expressed his desire to make things right. Also, my husband had purchased in the past with out any complaints, so my experience hopefully will not be reflective of all others.

If you enjoy waiting for weeks for basic carpet, this is the place for you! If you like picking out a certain style of basic carpet, only to have it not show up when the installers finally do, then you have hit the jackpot!
The installers were pretty shocked when I refused the carpet that wasn’t what I ordered (over a month ago), and then tried to get me to sign papers saying I had, which I found both disingenuous and alarming.
It should be noted that we only got waited on because I walked up to the sales desk and said, «We need to buy a bunch of carpet.» That, in and of itself, should have warned me.
Don’t carpe diem here.

Products are great but. Service is awful. Lose orders, stuff comes in and they forget to call you, installation takes forever, no one can help you if the original person you ordered it through isn’t there. If it’s their day off you have to wait 1 – 2 days til they’re back, then they come back and don’t return your call. When you call them they say they never got message but they can’t help you because the person they need to talk to is not in. This cycle repeated about 12 times. Been ordering flooring since August, still not done! Installation is sloppy and installers don’t speak English so you can’t convey what you want. If I were you, if try somewhere else. There’s a place right up the road w the same products. This store works on commission so all the other staff ignores you and won’t help you. Very irritating company that’s needs revamping or they will continue to alienate and lose their customers. I’m done with this place.

My partners was going to do a sunroom and we were looking to put down a tile floor. In the past we had visited two other tile places in the King of Prussia area. We decide to go with Avalon Tile if they could meet our requirements. On our first visit we met Tom Bolh. We explained the project we were working on and what we were looking for. Tom was extremely helpful. He wrote up the order and we were ready to move on with the project, I thought. A couple of days later she decided she might want to change the tile color so back to Avalon Tile we go. Met with Tom again, very helpful again and he wrote the order for the new tile. So now we are set, she will get the tile floor she wanted. A couple of days later we visited Avalon again as she was reconsidering the grout color. Tom wasn’t there so we worked with one of the other guys. Everything with the material had finally been decided. Now the sad part. We received the contractor drawings and found we were one foot short on the property line distance required by Upper Merion. We could have gone to the township and most like been able to get a variance but she didn’t want to get the variance or change the room configuration so she decide not to do the sunroom. This meant we would have to cancel the tile order. Tom was so professional about the cancelled order and the money she had paid was back on her credit card account next day. Great service with a bad ending.

Awful service — no follow up. Nothing has shown up when promised and you have to call them for updates. They either lie, are incompetent, or truly do not know their business. We have had a bathroom torn apart since late March waiting on tile that was supposed to deliver in 7 – 10 days. They can’t or won’t tell us when this tile is supposed to deliver. The manager won’t return phone calls. We will never do business with them again.

Nice choices in flooring but salespeople could be less helpful. Was in store for 15 minutes, finally went to desk to ask for help. First Lady said she couldn’t because she was waiting for someone and 2^nd lady didn’t seem to care. Asked her if prices were at all negotiable and she said no. Trying to purchase 700 square feet and at those prices and quantity everything should be negotiable.

I have had two very disappointing experiences with Avalon Flooring, and I definitely won’t give them the opportunity to disappoint me again.
For our main bath I ordered some tile, which they told me would take about 2 – 3 weeks to come in, just in time for my contractor to start the tile in the bathroom. After 5 weeks, the tile still wasn’t in and only after I called was i told it would be another two weeks. My bathroom was ripped apart, my house was a mess and I wasn’t waiting another two weeks. I canceled my order and had to settle for some tile from home depot.
Within the past month, we’ve started our master bathroom. While picking the tile out, over only a 1 hour timeframe, I was passed from one sales person to another. I ordered some gorgeous marble tile (not cheap) which would take 2 weeks for delivery and was told that their white subway tile is ALWAYS in stock. After 2 and a half weeks, I called and only then was told that my marble tile was in. Poor service there. When my contractor went to pick up the subway tile that is ALWAYS in stock, it wasn’t, and they would have it in the following week. When he went back the next week, this ALWAYS in stock product AGAIN was not in stock. My contractor went to Lowes, and picked up some comparable subway tile, no problem. Once again, my bathroom is in shambles, my house is a mess, and Avalon is the cause for delay.
While at Avalon, not picking up the tile that is ALWAYS in stock, my contractor picked up the marble tile that I ordered. The contractor installed the marble tile (without me checking it, shame on me for assuming Avalon could order the correct tile) and I am sad to say it’s the wrong tile, and NOT what I ordered. It’s installed and I’m now stuck with Avalon’s pricy mistake.
Buyer beware, be ready for poor sales service, following up on all of your products, waiting on wrong lead times, ALWAYS in stock tiles not REALLY being ALWAYS in stock, double checking your orders, and waiting extra time when they have to re-​order the product you originally ordered. Never again Avalon.

Working with Avalon has been nothing but disappointing! First, they said that a product was «in stock», but BEWARE! it was in stock in a warehouse at another location… they said it would be available at their location in 2 days. It took 7 days for them to call! When it did finally arrive, the sales associate was rude, condescending, and unhelpful. Then, it turned out, after being put down and insulted, that only half of the stock was delivered, so we have to wait another «2 days for it to come in»…more like «7 more days.» Overall, the selection is pretty good, but the service was horrible. And the prices were average.

They were timely and professional. So helpful. I am over the moon about my floors. They look absolutely amazing, better than I could have imagined. I will definitely go back for the rest of my floors as well as recommend to anyone who will listen to me.

My experience with Avalon started out fine, I found a nice tile, ordered it, was told what day it would arrive at the store. When I called to see if my order was in, I was informed that it was on backorder and it would not arrive in time for my project. Obviously no one bothered to call and tell me this… Having found nothing at Lowe’s or Home Depot that I liked, I wanted to keep my business with Avalon, so I was assisted in choosing a different tile, and I ordered it along with grout to match. The tile came in on time, however, not the grout. Apparently somehow the grout order was canceled and it was never sent to the store. If it were just the grout, I would not be so disappointed. But I was misinformed from the get-​go, and to top it all off, when my contractor went to cut/​install the tile, many of the tiles broke into pieces and were thus unusable. He said he has never seen such poor quality tile. That’s money down the drain. It’s a good thing I ordered more than I needed or who knows when my project would have been completed! I am not one to skewer a retailer, and I have never written an online review. I can’t say that the sales associates weren’t nice, because they were all pleasant. But «nice» doesn’t mean much if the associates are misinforming customers and if the quality of the tile is sub-​par. Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Avalon again in the future.

The knowledge, creativity and flexibility that Vincent showed was spectacular! The perfect vision of our remodeled spa bathroom complete. The combination of stellar customer service and great tile selection created the design we always dreamed of. Get tile here and ask for Vincent!

I worked with Tim, who I would highly recommend. Extremely patient and helpful as we choose tile and carpet for our basement. Pricing was competitive and service was outstanding.
