History
Established in 1941.
The Salinas Valley Fair started as a Farmer’s Days in the 1930’s. When the Race Horse Act of 1932 was passed it made provision for funds to financially support fairs. A group of 35 civic-minded residents formed a committee to start a fair and the first was held in King City in 1941.
The fairgrounds, a 25-acre parcel in King City, are host to the four-day Salinas Valley Fair during the third week of May. In keeping with the stated mission, the annual fair’s focus is on youth and perpetually has one of the largest grossing Junior Livestock Auctions in California.
Annually, 30,000 people visited the Salinas Valley Fair during its four-day run.
Throughout the year, the Salinas Valley Fair hosts hundreds of events. Individuals, non-profits, public agencies and private promoters utilize the facility for parties, meetings, trade shows, equestrian events and concerts.
