The Lookout Tavern

This place is an awesome spot to grab apres cocktails!
The happy hour specials are great and the atmosphere is hopping. We had a crew of four and got right in. Regardless of whether you’re staying the night or heading back home, the Lookout is a must stop apres spot.
NUT ALLERGY BEWARE — If you have a nut allergy, steer clear of this place. There are peanuts/​shells everywhere.

If all you are looking for, it’s a good place! We went in the end of the day. The Ceaser Salad was decent and the beef brisket could be better. The place it self looks a bit dirty.

Stopped by on a Saturday night around 6 and the place was hopping! I love that they have peanuts out so you can munch while you wait for a table and grab a beer. I had a Woodchuck cider for $ 5 which was very refreshing after a long day of skiing. Even though it was really crowded my sister and I were able to get a table in about 15 minutes. We both got burgers around $ 10 and we upgraded to sweet potato fries and onion rings. All of it was great and the service was very fast. Overall a great experience! I will definitely be back when I’m in the area :)

Love coming here when I visit killington. The same quirky bartenders have been there forever. They still have free wings (which are amazing) at happy hour. Food is always consistently good… if you are Canadian, make sure you too at least 20%!!! You’re not in Canada anymore :)

Food was great. I highly recommend the corn chowder and wedge salad. Service was slow.

we stopped in for drinks and wings apres ski and ended up grabbing food for takeout too. even though the bar area was really crowded we actually got a table for 6 in a matter of minutes. we were just in time for the happy hour wing special, 20 buffalo wings for $ 5. the wings were really big and juicy, although we wished they were a little more spicy. I also tried the calamari which had a sticky sweet glaze but the fish pieces were dry and small.
I got the turkey blt to go and it came with a delicious wasabi mayo. my husband seemed to enjoy the pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fries, and my friend really liked the burrito.
all good choices for pub style food, and great prices for the area.

I’m an even three here. Some things were really standout, while others just strait up made me SMH.
Pros:
–Free shuttle that takes you to and from your house (if you are staying in a nearby area)
–You can make a reservation for a large party in advance
–Great beer selection
–The menu is easy to please a large group and has a little something for everyone
–My chipotle chicken wrap was stuffed with seasoned cajun chicken, smothered in a tangy chipotle dipping sauce and came with perfectly crunchy fries
Cons:
–Apparently a reservation means that all 13 of you can sit in the restaurant at the same time. It does not mean that all 13 of you can sit together. We had to sit at separate tables, which probably should have been mentioned upon making the reservation
–The appetizer section of the menu was called the ‘appeteeeezer’ and for good reason, they were all a tease. The portions were tiny and overpriced
–Waitress service was a little funky. My friend ordered a sandwich with no tomato. When it came with a tomato and he said something, she picked up the bread and removed the tomato in front of him
All in all, if I could confirm that my entire party is actually able to sit together then this spot is worth coming back to. It’s basic and easy to please bar food, the shuttle service is super convenient and the ambiance is cheery.

Ambiance: if you have a peanut allergy, lookout! There’s a nice crunch on the floor of peanut shells.
There’s a dartboard in the middle of the bar so, lookout!
Don’t lose out on the game room that’s in the back corner when you walk in.
It’s laid back, super casual, pub atmosphere.
Service: if you want water on time, lookout! nice but forgetful and slow. She screwed up a couple orders and forgot things which was disappointing considering it wasn’t busy.
Food: overall, our table liked the apps more than most of the entrees (salads, burritos, burgers, etc).
Standout meals: barbecue brisket sandwich and teriyaki steak tips.
You get what you come in for so don’t expect incredible food, I think the 3-​star and less reviews are a little harsh considering it’s more of a local hangout than a restaurant.

Very good food! Excellent service. Nice ambiance. Friendly Staff. We ate there for dinner one evening and lunch on another day. We’ll go back if we’re in the area.

Dropped in after skiing and sat at the bar. There was a lady bartending (cannot remember her name) and she does an amazing job. Food was great and reasonably priced. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal in the area!

I’m honestly about 3.5 stars for Lookout Tavern; I’m going with three due to a less than spectacular beer selection (where are the dark and heavies? you’re an après-​ski bar!).
Seriously, this is a solid après-​ski destination for a beer and some pub food. The all-​wood interior is rustic and cozy, and the big-​screen TVs give you a nice view of whatever the big game of the moment is. The staff makes this feel like your local, casual watering hole, even if you come from states away.
I had the Left Coast burger, and it really hit the hangry spot I developed after a rigorous afternoon on the slopes. The burger itself is juicy and flavorful, and the jalapenos and grill-​charred bun really complete the flavor profile. I love that they use local Cabot cheese, although the guacamole tasted just like Wholy Guacamole (I’m a connoisseur of the guac), which was a tad disappointing as I would have like to taste an in-​house concoction, but not bad. The sweet potato fries are absolutely worth the $ 1.49 upcharge.
While I was bummed about the beer selection, a Long Trail Ale that was the coldest I think I have ever had on tap sufficed.
This is a small chain found at several ski areas across the country, so check out the Lookout after your day on the hill.

I really liked it… only been once, but Evan B… there is a reason the bartender said it was the perfect amount of head on the beer. Because it was.
I thought the bartender/​service was extremely friendly and personable. I’d definitely go back.

Enjoyed dining here. Food was good, service was friendly, all in all a good dining experience. We got the classic wings and sausage stuffed mushrooms for appetizers, both good, LOVED the mushrooms. Also got dinner salads, good, ribs that were good but not amazing, but then again, if you want amazing ribs go to a Rib/​BBQ place. My friend seemed to love them however. I got the fungus burger which I thoroughly enjoyed, meaty and not frozen with good toppings. Then the brownie a la mode for dessert. Would go back
PS, if you have peanut allergies, depending in the severity, you might want to avoid this place as they do have a barrel of peanuts right by the door.

Came here a couple of times while at Killington. Definitely get some peanuts by the door, the staff and the food can take a bit long to reach you.
The food itself is pretty decent. Wings are good, burgers were good. The nachos are a bit sub-​par — maybe avoid that.
Otherwise, pretty fun, rowdy and a nice place to unwind.

Fun and unusual place with peanuts as snacks, where you can throw the shells on the ground. I had a great chiptole chicken salad, which I recommend. There is a good bar but all around the menu is a bit uninspired I’m sure there are better restaurants to enjoy when at Killington.

Lookout used to be our GO TO apres ski bar but after our experience this past weekend, it will be a LOOOONG time (if ever) until we’re back.
The main reason for this? The DOUCHE guy manager (glasses/​tall/​always there). I wish I looked at the CC slip to get his name. Wife and I got there around 4 and ordered some wings and a couple drinks after a terrific day on the slopes. Dark & Stormy was a pretty weak sauce pour, especially compared to the other female bartenders but no biggie, we were still having a good time.
After grabbing some peanuts, we elected to get one more round of drinks, beer this time, again, from the d-​bag manager. While one of the ‘Sick Day IPA’ pours was right to the top as it should be, the other was a solid 1.5″ below the top of the glass, full of foamy head. I could see him struggling with the tap line as he poured it, dumping some head off and re-​filling etc. but he apparently gave up and passed this ¾ full beer to wife.
Wife then had the following exchange with d-​bag:
W: «Excuse me, would you mind just topping this one off a bit, it’s got a lot of head»
–Note-​she was very polite, never raised her voice, said please/​thank you
D-​Bag: «Huh? That’s a perfect amount of head right there» (except the other beer had ZERO head and is actually proper)
W: «Umm.this one is filled to the top, but there’s too much head on the other» D-​bag just stared back. At this point, she’d grown tired of arguing and headed back to our seats. As she did so, d-​bag actually had the gall to state:
«Because I was going to say, «Are you SERIOUS??»
I then snatched up the foamy, heady, terrible pour and again requested he fill it properly. He again attempted to tell me it’s a «perfect» amount of head but since I wasn’t going anywhere until he topped it off, he begrudgingly filled it while muttering, «Ok, wow» and other unintelligible grumblings. I told him to keep talking because just about every word was affecting his tip at this point.
Never in my LIFE have I had to argue with a bartender so much or been treated like an idiot; nearly every other bartender would immediately apologize and fill it properly. But not d-​bag. He had to get into it with both my wife and I. This really left a sour taste in my mouth.
My only regret is leaving him a $ 4 tip on a $ 30 bill; we should have left a quarter. Only reason it didn’t get 1 star is because the wings are decent and cheap.
Go spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

Great mountain country food. I highly recommend the ribs! They’re better than most places in NYC. The (breaded) pork chops, jerk chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and the kids menu were also solid. We liked it so much we came back 2x. Excellent service.
Heads up: the gnocchi is very rich, cheesy, creamy and huge. I didn’t try the salads, but the glazed salmon and sautéed zucchini was simple and solid, thought not as good as the rest. Skip the spring rolls.

I love the Lookout Tavern. The first time we came here a few years ago, it was one of the only places open at around 9pm on a weeknight. I will never forget the friendly service (even shortly before closing), above average and creative bar food, as well as their encouragement to stay for dessert even as the kitchen was closing.
We visited Killington again this year, and came here the first night for some grub. I had a delicious enchilada with a «Gold» margarita. My marg was strong, and my enchilada was a big portion with plenty of filling and a delicious sauce.
We came back every day after a ski echange for my boyfriend, who was demo-​ing, and had their delicious buffalo wings, nachos, spring rolls, and french onion soup… and lots of strong apres ski drinks!

Exceptionally friendly staff and great vibe for après-​skiing. There’s always a wait for a table, but the food is decent and the bar area is a fine consolation for passing the time.

Stopped in for dinner with a large group. We were able to call ahead and put our name on the list, cutting down our wait time. The menu wasn’t especially large but had a little bit of everything. We started with the Nachos Grande, Baked Stuffed Mushrooms and Sweet Potato fries. The nacho platter was the smallest I have every seen. The honey mustard that came with the sweet potato fries appetizer was great, but they do not give it when you order sweet potato fries as a side. I had the Chipotle chicken warp and sweet potato fries which was great. A couple of people in the group ordered the ribs. They were all disappointed in the portion size but the worst was the corn bread which was apparently so bad that none of them ate it.

Great pub fare. Awesome bartenders, an a fun après ski scene.
