Great Cakes stepped in and saved the day!
I had contacted another OBX bakery I used in the past to create a custom cake for a special event I had planned for my husband’s retirement from the U.S. Navy. Although the other bakery confirmed they could make the cake, 5 days before the event that bakery told me the cake was too much for them to handle (beyond their skills) & they could not do the order. They suggested Great Cakes as an alternate. I was panicked because there was less than a week, but Great Cakes quickly confirmed that they could make the cake and made the whole process professional and easy by emailing me an invoice and details to confirm.
While the other bakery had told me they would need to bring in an extra cake decorator just for my cake (for 8 – 10 of work) and that they would charge me $ 400-​$ 500 for the cake, Great Cakes made the same beautiful cake to my specifications for $ 180. The delivery fee was pricey but understandable given traffic in OBX on summer weekends. The cake was delicious, everyone loved it (especially my husband), and Great Cakes made it all go smoothly. They really saved the day and I would highly recommend them for special events, including weddings.
