Excellent cheese plate and great wine flights. They make their own mustard and the cheese selections and meats were totally delicious. We had the sampler plate and it was enough for the three of us. Loved the Humboldt Fog cheese. The sampler comes with pickles, olives, two fruit compotes, peppers, wonderful crostini, meats and cheeses, and more. The guys that took care of us were fun and helpful too. Really enjoyed the red flight. Well done!!! Can’t wait to come back.

Everything was so tasty! Alex, our server, was wonderful. She was classy and knowledgeable enough for fine dining but fun and relaxed enough for an island.
We started with the four meat plate with prosciutto, two chorizo choices and a mild coppa. It came with some course, ground mustard, several crostini and some fresh, sliced apples and strawberries. Mmmmm!
We then tried a fried mozzarella special appetizer, which was more like a hand-​breaded, lightly fried caprese plate. It had drizzled balsamic, roasted tomato and a side garnish of some house pickled asparagus and carrots that were good enough to eat a plate full of on their own.
From there we moved on to one of the many delicious flat breads that they offer. We chose the one with chicken, gouda cheese, apple, bacon and a light bbq sauce. Amazing!
Pair all of the above with over the top wines and a great organic pilsner and it was perfection.
But wait! There’s more! Finish it all off with their crème brûlée and you’ll be in heaven! Go now! (Opens daily at 4)

This is such a great spot for a date night in Kilauea with excellent service. Chef Landon has very tasty specials! We enjoyed a flatbread and the crab cakes (the special). For dessert we tried the amazing white chocolate mousse with a sweet berry sauce. I recommend trying the specials that are made fresh daily.

The people who work here know their wine and were very helpful and fun! They also know their cheese which I appreciated — cheese board was delish! Go here, you won’t be sorry!

A change in dining scenery on Kauai!
If you’re looking for a nice date night out in Kauai, Palate is the perfect choice. It feels more like an urban wine bar than your traditional island restaurant. The service is super friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable about the wine they serve. As a bonus, they also give STEEP pours. A wine flight of 3 wines was easily 2.5 full glasses worth of wine — And for roughly $ 14, this is not a bad deal at all… especially on Kauai, which is notorious for high prices.
The cheese & meat plates as well as the flatbreads are also great here! Didn’t try any of the other food.

Wow what a great artichoke flat bread the flavor was so great and paired with an amazing argyle pinot noir. Recommended by drew was an amazing combo. And to be able to walk next door to a wine shop and buy that wine I just enjoyed what a brilliant combo wine bar next door to a wine shop. Definitly an amazing combo.

Great place! Has a sophisticated, yet casual feel to it. Many awesome wines to choose from and the tapas-​like food is delicious! The servers are friendly as well. Good place to unwind. Highly recommended. You’re in good hands if AJ is your server!

This place is a find! Chef Landon makes everything from scratch, right down to the crustinis. Wine is excellent and great service.
Came back the very next night and it only got better! We had a full meal paired with wine. If this place was in California we would be regulars. We ate ate several great restaurants on the island and we chose this place to return to for our last night.

Wow! We are visiting from California and know our wines! This special wine bar has excellent wines and wonderful food. The Chef is talented and takes pride in his food. Don’t let the outside fool you, I forgot I was in Kauai for a moment.

My husband and I had no idea what a wonderful place this was going to be. We had so much fun sharing wines, eating amazing food and talking with the owner. We loved the olives, meat and cheese assortment and prawns. The restaurant is small but that made it feel comfortable and warm. We took all their suggestions and were very happy with the results. Palate should not be missed if you are in the neighborhood and is worth the drive it you are not! Thank you for perfect night out in Kilauea.

Incredible service! Drew took amazing care of our large group — anticipating our every need. The food was delicious. I loved the meat and cheese platters and the flatbreads. Reminded me of a favorite spot back on the mainland.
I didn’t plan on eating but everything looked so good — I had to try. Glad I did! Will be going back soon. :)

What an absolutely amazing hidden secret! Don’t let the outside fool you! You honestly have to look for it. And it doesn’t look like much BUT!!! This place was amazing! On Sunday and Tuesday they do wine tastings with pared plates. Which in and of itself was fantastic! But stay for dinner! I had the ahi and WOW… just WOW!!! I do not think I have ever had ahi that tastes like this! And then the chocolate mousse… Talk about melt in your mouth! The wine was exceptional! They even carry Sea Smoke! I have only seen this one in one other very upscale restaurant. No matter where you are on the island. This is a must stop!

Excellent flatbreads! We tried the Gravlox and the Mac nut Pesto flatbreads and both were full of flavor and excellent! Good selection of wines and super friendly service!

A 3-​star rating is a bit generous, but I think this place has potential if they work on the food and the service.
Good news. The wine selection is nice and the Venus is trendy and cozy. I had no trouble finding several interesting wines (and my husband and I have tried many wines!). The server who took our wine order could not tell my husband which grapes were in the Vidal Fleury Cotes du Rhone instead assuring us it was a «special blend» … Hmmmm GSM maybe? I looked it up on my smart phone and it was a nice choice. I was delighted with my glass of Saldo Zin!
Not so good news. The food was so-​so and the service was confused. We ordered a simple green salad with sherry vinaigrette and a marguerita flatbread to share. The server warned us that the flatbreads were taking ~20 minutes but she could start us off with the salad first. We said that was fine. The pizza showed up sooner than expected, before the salad. The flatbread was doughy and should have stayed in the oven much longer. We were done eating the flatbread by the time the wrong salad arrived. We told the other server of the error and he promptly brought us what we ordered, telling us it was on him because of the mistake. Thanks! The first server brought us our check and announced that she didn’t charge us for the more expensive salad that we didn’t order and only charged us for the salad we originally ordered.
They were reasonably busy, but I think they were trying to rush too much. Slow down a bit and make sure you get things right. The menu looks pretty interesting, it just needed a bit of help in the execution.

I enjoyed my first visit. The wine I chose, F Bomb, was yummy! The crostini I shared with my friends was also tasty, nice amount of food for the price. I had the special oyster, very good choice. The only negative comment is maybe have chairs with backs or a section with comfy chairs … All in all It will be a regular place for me

Foods need to be worked on, inconsistency is not good with food.
Crostini’s were thin and now they are too think and not toasty enough. Now you get 2 tri tip Crostini’s instead of 3.
Artichoke tapenade with humbolt fog was overwhelmingly garlicky, and killed the humbolt fog completly. As well as others at table who were not eating.
Meat and cheese board was average with miniscule pieces of cheese, and the cured meats were old and the prosciutto had a rainbow glare of old meat.
Foods are not too good which is a shame.
A new menu should be looked in to.
They really need to revamp the tiny menu and put some unique and dofferent cheeses and pates and cured meats… Maybe some almonds and dried fruits or fig jam … Step it up, and need more white wine choices, more food choices

Great wine selection and a non-​salesman casual approach to service, which I love. They have a simple but more importantly excellent wine and beer menu. The atmosphere is surprisingly nice.
The food is meat, cheese and bread style Mediterranean. But while they do not have any dedicated gluten free options (I’m not trendy, it’s a condition,) I was impressed that they went out of their way to find us some rice crackers to accompany the meat plate.
I will definitely be back. If you like indulgence, this is your spot. My wish for the future: more chocolate selection and or gluten free options. Or hot foods if possible.

This is the perfect place for a date night or a casual night out with friends. I love what they did with the space. The ambiance is great and makes me feel like I’m in a big city.
The humbolt fog and cambozola are my new favorite cheeses. Seriously amazing. Everything is presented beautifully and since its right down the road I’ll be there again tomorrow.
Also if you love chocolate get the organic chocolate stout. It’s great.

Palate is a great addition to Kilauea! The wine selection is fantasic and the tapas are yummy and presented well! we have been vacationing on kauai for many years now and love having a new place to visit!
