A great place to stay. Everything you need and it’s right on the beach. Staff very nice!

Found a great deal on Orbitz with a 20% off coupon ($ 854/​total for 4 nights) for a Premium 1 bedroom with a partial ocean view. (We booked 2 – 3 months in advance) Super spacious with a great view of the BBQ area and ocean to our right. The grounds are impeccably clean and lots of friendly retired folks enjoying their well-​deserved rest. Quiet and very comfortable with plenty of parking and a great location.
We used the full kitchen one night to prepare steaks and found it very convenient to have plenty of pans, kitchen utensils, plates and silverware. We just needed to bring our own oil, butter, etc. Also appreciated all of the beach and shower towels available. We went down to the beach for a swim but the sand was super rocky and painful so we settled for the pool, which was fantastic. I don’t think the beach here is meant for swimming…
The staff is also very accommodating. We were able to do late check out with no problem. Overall, highly recommend!
Note: If you’re checking in on a weekend, don’t freak out that the office isn’t open. There are pay phones to the left of the office with instructions on how to check in and lock boxes with keys to rooms. Yeah… I freaked out… :-/

Maui Sunset exceeded our expectations! I would absolutely choose it even over the Grand Wailea!

It would be a five star if the people at the activities desk would enforce the pool rules. We love the complex and have been here for some time. But the over wild pool stuff really takes away from our usual experience. Too bad no one speaks up.

Great condo complex with nice middle area with pool and other games. Fantastic sunsets. We drove a lot. Beach not good. Too rocky.

This is the second time I’ve stayed here, and my BF’s ex-​in laws had a timeshare here, so he had been here many times.
Last time we stayed (2013), everything was perfect. Beautifully updated condo, friendly, quiet, relaxing pool area. This time, a few things seemed different.
One, is that being in our mid 50’s, and having no children, we really liked the atmosphere, catering to an older crowd, and noise levels and horseplay at the pool being pretty non-​existent. (There are even signs regarding that). This December, after we were there for a few days, more young children and tweens checked in. This was noticeable, as the pool area became noisy, with kids running, jumping, throwing things, and leaving the noodles all over the pool area. so when trying to relax and read, we were splashed, and ran by, into, etc. I mentioned this to the front desk, and they said they would «pass it on,» but things only became worse, as more families checked in. It used to be that the people manning the desk at the pool would help with the pool area, but they didn’t even look up from their computers. It was too bad, as the older guests would do as we did: Come down as soon as the pool opened, and stayed for an hour or so until the noisiness began. This extended to the grounds, as well. I think that most of the older owners are renting more, and this is why no one seems to want to do anything about it.
We also noticed that there were more people walking their dogs onto the grounds, from the state park area. These people didn’t carry bags with them, so we did notice doggy doo on the grounds.
Also, the last evening we were there, the hot tub was only lukewarm. The other nights, it was hot, so that was disappointing.
If this becomes more of a kid-​oriented place, even though we like staying at Maui Sunset, we may look into somewhere different, that caters more to adults, the next time we are in Maui.

Booked this via groupon, stayed at a 1 bedroom ocean view on the 5^th floor (B building) had everything we need from beach chairs boogie boards, of course all sheets and towels (as well for the beach/​pool) kitchen was very well equipped and the property well maintained, BBQ’s on shared area are of high quality and the pool /​hot tub very nice, also has tennis, shuffle board and other games to borrow such as bocce, balls and other. Great location on Kihei, lots of parking.

Pleasant experience. We booked through groupon deal. No communication from any one after we bought groupon. We arrived late 7:50 a.m., office was already close (actual time was 8a. m to 8 p.m.) we called the number noted on the door of office. on site building manager picked up, he asked few security questions to validate and then gave us code to lock-​box which had emergency key to condo. it was on 4^th floor, partial ocean view as promised in the deal. Very clean, every thing you need was in there, high quality cutlery, vacuum, surfboard, videos, games, two extra sleeping beds (one pull down and one sofa), apart from master bed. Two bath rooms. Two room AC’s on in bed room and one in living. fan each room. There were lots of games, Tennis, golf and Hawaiin games, which you can borrow for free from 8 a.m. to 10 pm. Quiet, clean and safe place. I would love to go there again. It definitely worth the money.

Stayed at a premium partial ocean view, room 209. Downside was that I thought we would be higher up because we didn’t really see the ocean from our lanai. Good part was that even though we weren’t higher up, the premium rooms are newly renovated and included washer/​dryer plus kitchen. Weird smell upon opening closet doors and kitchen cabinets though. Overall good stay with all the supplies you will need like utensils, kitchen necessities, beach towels, boogie boards, etc… Would stay here again in the future.

Great location. Perfect for a lazy vacation and forgetting about the rest of the world

We stayed in one of these rentals last year and really enjoyed it! The Condo had everything we needed during our stay from kitchen utensils to beach toys and lawn chairs! We had a ocean view room with amazing sunset/​sunrise view! The grounds (grass area), pool & tennis court were kept up really nice. The beach area was pretty rocky, you couldn’t really swim or walk on the sand without shoes. However there are plenty of nice beaches near by that we drove to for the day! Would return.

Really fun resort, and almost each room has a nice ocean view — I had a lot of fun staying here :)
We had a top floor unit and the balcony made for a great place for us all to hangout and relax after long days of snorkeling. Plus, the AC was awesome!

First let me set the tone that I travel all the time, work and leisure. Staying away from home is not foreign to me. The only difference is someone else suggested these accommodations via their time share. A few notes that you might find helpful.
Every condo is not treated equal. Negative. There are different property owners/​mgmt companies for different condos. Some own multiple. My travel was booked via RCI time share. This unit was very outdated. Furniture and bedding outdated. Cabinets appear to be originals. Televisions not flat screens. Carpet ewww! Stove a refrigerator were more than 20 years old. No range just a microwave on the counter which was very old. Come on microwaves are super cheap at Walmart!
It’s 90+ degrees in Maui, I should be able to run my AC as long and cool as I like. Negative. They are set on timers, max about 4 hours. After returning from a hot sticky day, I was back in a hot sticky condo.
Kitchen utensils, washer/​dryer and towels available. Positive. Not to mention the other household items/​conveniences you may need. Vacuum, boogie boards, hangers, brooms and mops.
The outside of the property driving up tells the story. The grounds and pool are nice but overall I was very disappointed. For the price I paid, I could have been in a nicer hotel in Wailea with nicer beaches in walking distance.
If you are also looking for the wow experience when you are in your sleeping quarters this will not give you that. Reviews are subject to taste level true. I am a spoiled traveler but this place is still well below average. Sorry unit 315B owner. I’m not impressed.

This is one of my favorite places to stay in Maui. The rooms are huge, and are basically single bedroom apartments. They have full kitchens, washer and dryer in room, 2 bathrooms, etc. They DO NOT have daily room cleaning or room service, both of which I rarely use, so it is no problem for me.
The facilities are clean, the pool is nice the beach is a short walk away and the prices are good.
Highly recommended if you want to stay in Kihei.

There is nothing bad to say about this place! Location is perfect, it’s beautiful & everything is within arms reach. The staff is very friendly, accommodating and helpful and the landscaping is gorgeous. We loved how close the grocery stores and restaurants were and how we were able to do water activities just a few steps from our condo. They have rentals for just about everything in the pool area. We rented paddle boards for a few hours and thought about giving tennis a go but didn’t have enough time. There is also yoga on Wednesday’s and Sundays so ask about that as well. We will definitely be back

What an amazing condo complex! I loved staying here!
Family and kid friendly, really beautiful grounds, killer views, and amazingly attentive staff! I had a blast with my family, and will definitely be back!

If you’re looking for fancy and new, this isn’t the place but if you want something close to the beach, although you can’t swim at this particular beach, very convenient to restaurants and to get to other places in Maui, this is the one. About 50 of the units are time shares so we traded our Hilton points for a stay here. We’re only here for a week but I wish it was longer. Many of the folks come every year, rent the same apartment and have formed a group but they were all so nice to us. There is what they call a concierge at the pool to assist you with activity reservations but that’s about it. Our time share had all the stuff we needed including a closet filled with books, boogie boards and beach chairs. Unfortunately we didn’t figure that out until the end of our stay. There are several ways to stay here, like we did, own a time share here or rent from owners or the Maui Sunset. I think it’s less expensive to rent from the owners directly and from what I can tell all seem to keep their rental units in very good condition. One thing to remember, if you forget shampoo or one of the sundries you’ll have to go to the Longs Drug, they don’t supply any of those things. Don’t care if we can’t trade for this place next time, I”ll just rent

Arrived here at 9:30am and thought our condo would be ready since we arrived from Oahu pretty early. Nope. Had to wait until 3:00pm because it took a while for the maid to clean up the room. I think the front desk staff could be a little nicer. The room is really nice, except for the little ants crawling around the kitchen and the shower curtain smelling like a wet rag that hasn’t been washed in a while. Plus, we had people making banging noise in the condo above us before 8am! Quiet time at the condos is between 10pm-​8am. There is also no smoking on the lanais, but yet there were guests who didn’t give a crap about the rules.
So, here we are a day before we are to check out. Went to the front office to see if we could check-​out later since our flight wasn’t until 7pm. Front office told us to call Jackie since they don’t deal w the reservation. What?! We called Jackie. She gave us every excuse in the book (ie bedroom furniture being put in, fixing stuff, etc) to not allow us a late check-​out. She said we could hang out at the pool. We would still have to take a shower before our 9-​hr flight! What does she say? Oh.” No apology, nothing. What irritates me is that we had to be patient in waiting for our room to be ready when we arrived to check in, and yet they couldn’t be a bit accommodating due to our late flight. Talk about the lack of customer svc. I’ve stayed here several yrs ago and really enjoyed it, but will NEVER stay here again. Don’t know what’s changed, but I’ll stay elsewhere from now on.

I’m at the tail end of my week long stay in the Maui Sunset condos. I couldn’t be more pleased with our stay. This is a kid friendly complex. We are a family of 3 (my husband and I and our 8 year old daughter.) My brother and his family with 2 kids (9 & 5 years old) stayed in a two bedroom and we had a one bedroom — both units on the A wing. As others have mentioned, I think it’s better if you can rent directly from the owner on VRBO rather than booking from the Maui Sunset website. I rented directly from the owner on VRBO after much research and I had fabulous upgraded unit with a superior view. My brother who paid much more than me (more than double what I paid though ours is a smaller unit) had a unit that was not as nice as ours.
This place doesn’t look like much from the road. You shouldn’t be deterred by it. The units are nice and the grounds are very nice. All the amenities are there from the kid friendly pool, tennis courts to being right on the beach. I’ve heard this beach is not very nice and full of seaweed. This week the water has been pretty clear and not good for swimming, it was great to building sand castles and watching the sunsets.
We particularly really like the location. You are close to a number of highways towards all the major sites. It was just 15 minutes to Maleaa bay where we took the snokeling trip. It was a 2 hour drive to Haleakala crater. About 20 – 25 minutes to Lahaina. It’s easy to get to any part of the island fairly easily.
I would definitely stay here again. I might try to get an oceanfront units (which I would guess start at x11 or so – higher the number more view of the beach.) and look at the B wing. In the June timeframe, the sunsets can be seen from the B wing — A wing not so much.

We stayed in Maui for 8 days for the 2^nd part of our honeymoon. This was our first visit to Maui/​Hawaii. I was a little skeptical after reading bad reviews online. I should have just came to Unilocal FIRST!
When we pulled into the parking lot I was really disappointed thinking I was going to really not like this place. We were too early so they wouldn’t let us check in. So we drove around the area to find out what was around us, etc. We came back to check in and again, I was still a little nervous after pulling into the parking lot – you just have to remember you are pulling into the BACK of the condos. It felt like we were pulling into the Days Inn at first. We checked and finally got to our room.
We opened the door and we both were in complete shock! This places is absolutely gorgeous! WE LOVED IT!!! Our condo was flawless! It was clean, well-​maintained and decorated very nicely! It felt very homey and warm. Then to step out on the balcony and see the beautiful surroundings just topped off the stay. The grounds are manicured so perfect we called it the «Brady Bunch Grass».
Theres so many fun things to do here. Tennis courts, shuffleboard and a well taken care of pool. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The closests were stacked with things for us to use, including swimming fins, pool toys, coolers and games and tons of other things. The kitchen had everything you would ever want to use.
We had a little mishap. while we were there. I’m still going to give it 5 stars though because it’s truly amazing. The second day we we there. they closed the freaking pool! AHM HELLO… I’m in Hawaii! Water, sun. FUN! You aren’t allowed to swim on the beach at these condo’s so you have to rely on the pool or nearby beaches. We got no warning.just.boom.pool closed. I wanted to cry. The same day… they closed the elevator! WE were three floors up! Try going grocey shopping. YIKES…You know it must be an awesome place if I’m still giving them 5 stars. they are amazing. I cannot wait to go back. This place is truly paradise!
