These coffee shops started in Hawaii and migrated to the west coast. The espresso is yummy, this is a great place to grab a bev and stroll the streets of Lahiana — remember to drop a buck in the Mahalo Jar.

For some reason bums or homeless people hang out on their patio, which makes me continue down to Starbucks.

RIP Bad Ass you were such a cute little coffee shop. Lava Java has now taken over the place Bad Ass used to occupy, I’m glad it’s still a coffee spot since this was one of our favorite places to grab a cup of coffee before heading out in the mornings. The Coffee at Lava Java is very good, you’ll definitely get that caffeinated rush you need to get you going at the start of the day. Staff are very friendly here and seem much more laid back than the typical Starbucks crew.

I love this small lil spot located right in the Triangle… They are now called Lava Java. The service was great the owner is very friendly they have a bunch of cool food items and a bunch of desserts and coffee and they have Donkey Balls and Gecko Balls he is now making them himself and they are so good the chocolate and flavors are great, they are chocolate covered macadamia nuts. The Lava Balls are so good and spicy and the Salty Balls Milk Chocolate covered in Sea Salt YUMMY…

Sadly Bad Ass is no longer in Kihei. The Lahaina and Kahului locations are still open but Kihei is now known as Lava Java. They still had a Hula Pie blend which was just as delicious… same staff was there in May of 2008.

I take my coffee iced in Maui. My favorite thing to order is a non-fat sugar-free vanilla latte. The Bad Ass Coffee is amazing. I love that it is from Hawaii and it tastes delicious. The store sells t-shirts, mugs, and pictures of Hawaii so it is a little touristy, but that is hard to avoid in Hawaii. How else would they survive with Starbucks on every corner of the islands?
