Key Largo Bay Marriott Beach Resort

Only visited the tiki bar and restaurant but our server Greg was great! Best margarita I’ve had so far in the keys!

We usually enjoy staying at Marriott, but this one just was not up to par, and does not deserve the Marriott name. The staff was nice, but the room was not so great. Décor needed improvement. The bathroom lighting was not very good, and the water pressure in the shower was not so good, also lacking in toiletries that are usually there. To get to the restaurant on the property we walked past an ugly bay of water. Other than all that, the location was nice, but I can’t say great. I’ve experienced much better.

Pros: Great location, nice pool, Gus’ restaurant was very good, plenty of parking, hot tub perfect temp, beach entrance and views were very nice. You can rent anything on premise like scuba gear, paddleboards, jet skis etc.
Cons: For a resort they need to focus more on cleanliness. Coffee maker, tile grout and outdoor table were all dirty.

I think this is one of the best value hotels in the keys. The hotel itself is older, however, it is very well-​maintained. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beach is beautiful and has a number of amenities for you to enjoy including hammocks, a pool with bar that makes great drinks, and a hot tub at the perfect temperature. The restaurant was good and the bar made some great drinks. I would definitely stay there again if I were to return to Key Largo.

I tried to use the spa services, but people really mean answer the phone. In general, poor customer service, wouldn’t recommend it.

2 ½ stars For a Marriott was very disappointed. Sheets were dirty, curtains ripped and stitched together. Furniture very worn out and a lot of bad patch up jobs around the room. Front desk was very pleasant and the bay view was great. Just wasn’t what I expected based on reviews. It’s more like a motel then a Marriott resort

No, it’s not the Ritz (The Ritz Carlton isn’t even as wonderful as it used to be.) but very nice as far as Marriotts go. Helpful, friendly front desk, service with a smile at the pool bar as well as the dive shop. Rooms are clean and updated although a bit damp smelling which is to be expected in the keys. As a Platinum Elite member we received a room upgrade, breakfast voucher and choice of extra points or drink voucher. Thank you Marriott! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this location again!

Beautiful hotel! My boyfriend took me for our anniversary and we just got back yesterday. Sam the guy who took our luggage was the sweetest and even helped my boyfriend surprise me by having my edible arrangements (chocolate covered fruit basket) set up in the room right before I got there.
We were supposed to stay 3 days and ended up HAVING to stay one more night it was just paradise. The front desk (Kristen and the guy manager I forgot his name) were so accommodating in helping us get the lowest rate and making it a great last night. (They even gave us a complimentary breakfast card for all four days! We got to save money somehow lol) It was the most amazing 4 days I’ve had in a while. From the room with the island view which id recommend to anyone! To the private beach with the hammocks right at the edge and the beautiful view of the sunset, all the way down to the pool and poolside bar with the nicest bartenders and waiters (Mario, Cory and Ana were the best). We enjoyed a dolphin swim not too far down the road, and jet ski’s on the property of the hotel. Met lots of nice new people there who made my experience even more enjoyable. Other than an older couple from another country complaining about our island music which had no profanity and was extremely low, everything went smoothly and we never wanted to leave! Will definitely be back!
Tips:
*Overall we spent around 1,000−2,000 or more dollars on 4 days. The restaurant on property is very expensive. Nice to go once and splurge. But if you’re not used to spending that much and are looking to budget, find something elsewhere. (for a small piece of churrasco with chimichurri, yuca Frita and sweet plantains, for two people was 100 $. However the meal to me was completely delicious and totally worth it!)
*Go during the week! It’s more calm so you have almost everything to yourself unlike summer vacation or weekends. If you ride the jet ski’s they might give you more time because it’s a slow day! (They did for us)
*If you’re craving something sweet, at our room we ordered chocolate cake and mile high apple pie. The chocolate cake was an amazing, rich, dark plate of goodness. Of course so chocolatey I couldn’t even eat it all. And the apple pie was good also, really tasty. But I still like my homemade apple pie better.)
*For poolside food, i almost ordered the steak salad once but unfortunately that’s a mistake I made. Would’ve loved to try it. But If you like something light and filling, and if you like Caesar salads, I ate the chicken Caesar salad wrap with fries almost everyday. Not drenched with Caesar, has a better lighter fresh taste to it, and comes with a good amount of fries. Half of the wrap will fill you up so you can always share.

Just got back from a friends 50^th birthday bash. Did Marriott’s paddle boat for private party for 60 and weather was perfect. Food for dinner absolutely outstanding. Best suckling pig I ever had… moist, juicy .melt in your mouth and crispy skin. Turkey and beef tenderloin perfectly cooked also .
Highly recommend for special occasion events

Amazing views. Bed is comfortable and the room was quiet. Good shampoo and soap. Nice bathroom. The only thing off was when I ordered the salmon and bagel for breakfast, they forgot to bring the bagel. Overall good experience.

Auf unserer 16 Tage Reise durch Florida, zog es uns an Tag 12 auf die Keys. Während der Reise durch die Everglades versuchten wir telefonisch ein Zimmer, für mich und meine Frau zu reservieren. Das war leider nicht möglich, da man uns keine Zusage machen konnte ob es einer Zimmer mit Queen– oder Kingsizebett geben würde. Kurzerhand habe ich dann über
ein Zimmer mit Aussicht und Balkon für 209 $ per Smartphone, für zwei Nächte, gebucht.
Als wir dann Dienstagabend im Hotel angekommen sind, teilte man uns mit, dass wir ein Complementary (Gratis) Upgrade erhalten hätten. Und was soll ich sagen, das Zimmer welches wir dann bekommen haben war phänomenal. Großer Wohnbereich mit Küche (ca 60 qm), tolles Schlafzimmer mit super hohem und bequemen Bett, Gästezimmer mit zwei Betten (man weiß ja nie) und ein Badezimmer und ein riesiger Balkon zum Bay und Pool/​Strand mit tollem Sonnenuntergangsausblick.
Das Hotel hat eine gute Poolanlage und einen kleinen aber feinen Sandstrand mit vielen Tieren, wie Ibisen und Echsen. Bar und Restaurant sind da. Parkplätze sind genug vorhanden. Das Personal ist kompetent und freundlich. Die Sauberkeit perfekt. Die Zimmer auf neusten stand.
Wie man hört waren wir begeistert. Aus unseren geplanten zwei Nächten, wurden fünf Übernachtungen, d.h. Wir waren den gesamten restlichen Urlaub in diesem Hotel und haben es keine Sekunde bereut. Und würden jederzeit wieder am diesen tollen Platz Erde zurückkehren (aus dem nassen/​kalten Deutschland).
Fazit: perfekte Seelenbaumelnlassenbasis an einem tollen Fleck Erde um die Keys und Everglades zu erkunden

Stayed here for two days. Rooms are nice but needs update. You kind of get what you pay for. Ask for a bay view room, it makes a difference! Pool and beach is nice. Good service at bar by the pool.

Mediocre is pretty accurate here. Rooms are clean, pool is OK, «beachfront» is a bit of a misnomer, sunset is the high point.
It was the customer service where things fell apart on this one night stay. Front desk staff was extremely cheerful and warm (the stars are for them). Getting billed full price for drinks during Happy Hour (look at your bill closely — front desk said Happy Hour from 4 – 7; drinks purchased at 4:30 and 6:00). Informed that bar would be open until 10; returned from dinner at 9:05 to have some drinks by the «beach» with my wife– bar was closed.
On a longer stay these would be blips– on this one, a onenighter, these are deal breakers. Might give it another chance… Not sure.

Marriott hotels are usually my preferred choice because I know they are reliable and very well kept. Despite some of the mediocre reviews for this location, I think things may have changed since then. This is my second stay here in several years, and I couldn’t be happier with our experience.
We went for one night, check in on a Saturday, and had no problem getting our room early when we arrived at noon. Considering many people are checking out Saturday, I thought this was a plus. Our room was on the fourth floor facing Overseas highway. Because I went with one of the lowest rates they had, I opted not to pay extra for a view since I was only staying one night. All of the rooms facing the water have a balcony and a beautiful view of the water. As to the room, it was perfect. The walls looked clean and nicely painted, the carpet was bright and new, and the beds were absolutely amazing! Between the mattress being plush, and all the pillows being extra fluffy, I felt like I was sleeping on a little marshmallow!
The pool and beach area are wonderful. There is an expansive area overlooking the water with hammocks and chairs throughout. Many times we would just come sit, and do what you do best in the keys, nothing! Let time stand still. The beach is a bit of a stretch for me when you consider I’m from Miami. It’s a small area where you can swim if you would like to, but there is a lot of sea grass. They have a dive shop where you can rent kayaks or jet skis as well and it is very convenient. I suggest kayaking in John Pennecamp just down the street since not only will you pay half of what you will here, but also have a much better time with the views.
The one thing I loved about this resort as opposed to every other one in the keys is there is no resort fee! None! We have a boat and they provide you with a wet slip and ramp at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! This alone is definitely a huge selling point for my husband since he goes down to the keys to fish on a regular basis. It is on a first come first serve basis so keep that in mind. We did not see all the slips taken while we were there.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay once again at this hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to book it on our next escape from Miami!

I mean… the rooms are just meh. They have it made with their location… awesome beach frontage. Since our last visit here, they seem to have made some additions to the grounds… such as a neat water fountain/​fire pit feature which was actually pretty sweet to sit around at sunset. Good pool and hot tub outside. And decent restaurant. But, honestly the room is polar opposite quality. Our room had towel bars hanging loose from the wall, the shower handle was completely backwards and I had to find a good temperature via trial and error. Paint is splotchy and mish mashy. Amenities and furniture banged up. Granted, folks no doubt don’t come to key largo to spend the bulk of their time in the hotel room; but, you’d expect a minimum of matching quality to the rest of the grounds. We’d likely stay here again, simply because there aren’t really a whole lot of other options…

Overall a great hotel with a nice pool and love that the beach is just steps away. Room was excellent with huge comfy beds. Great view of the sunset each night out the balcony. Food was okay at pool bar and as is usually the case at hotels, drinks and food were overpriced. Having said that, the hotel was very nice and we would definitely come back.

Loved this resort! First, view of the sunset is amazing! See photo. Staff was friendly everywhere we went. Accommodating and helpful. Lobby is pretty.
Rooms are just rooms, but nice. Bed was comfy. It’s the view that’s worth all this. We had a great balcony and it was perfect.
Kids had a blast on the beach and in the pool.
Lost two things and both were found!
We will definitely come back.

Overall, we were fairly satisfied with our stay at the Marriot. Not the nicest location, but definitely not the worst.
The Good:
— Parking was simple.
— Everyone on the staff from the front desk to the wait staff at the pool were very friendly and accommodating.
— Beds were really comfy, loved the comforters and the pillows.
— Mostly loved the pool area. The chairs were great. The hammocks on the ‘beach’ were cool.
— The area next to where they have the kayaks, jet skis, was an awesome place to watch the sunset. They had chairs and hammocks and such an incredible view.
The Not so Good:
— We arrived before check in time and knew we couldn’t get in our rooms, which was fine, our intent was to hang out by the pool. The front desk said they would call when our room was ready, no problem. My annoyance was that at 4:30 — 5:00, the room still wasn’t ready. It took until after 5.
— Calling the are a beach was a bit of a stretch. It was fine to sit and relax, but it is small. Swimming in the water was not awesome, just too crowded.
— I liked the Tiki Bar in the pool area, but drinks were insanely overpriced. While the waitress was very friendly, the service was pretty slow.
— Although the beds and TVs were more modern, the fixtures in the room look dated.
We went the day after a major holiday, and they seemed packed. I can only imagine what it would be like during the holiday. We would return, but I hope they consider a bit of face lift to the rooms.

Trying to understand how this resort is getting so many great reviews? The staff is wonderful, and they have good food at the restaurant, but other than that I’m perplexed?! Drinks are overpriced, rooms are ancient with cracked tiles and old fixtures, no closet to hang longer items, there is NO beach to speak of, and did I mention how OLD everything is? The sink faucet handle came off in my husband’s hands! Category 7, really?! There is also a small canal behind the pool, next to the restaurant that is loaded with dead, rotting fish! The smell is awful. We actually used 35,000 Reward points to stay here, and we’re thoroughly disappointed! Save your rewards or your money and move onto somewhere else. Marriott will be getting a call from us along with a slew of disturbing pictures. NOT impressed, and was the lowest point of our vacation week.
