St Christopher’s-by-the-Sea

The teachers are good, as are the classrooms and physical space of the school. There is enough room for the kids to play. The teachers are dedicated and most have been there over 15 years. Ms. Debbie Roa, the head of the lower school, is outstanding, honest, and knowledgeable.
There are issues with the senior administration. The head of school is also the reverend of the church and she lacks much experience. I think there is room for improvement there. The vestry officially manages the school, but they are unknown and unheard by the parents and children. I don’t know if any have young children or even care about the school.
My child loves attending and the parents and PTO are warm, intelligent, and friendly. Many are tired of fighting with the new head of school over changes that many parents believe are hurting the school. Many graduates get into the best schools. But, most kids just stay through kindergarten. Overall, I think it is a good choice if you want to stay on Key Biscayne.
