Specialties

Shalley and Murray is a criminal defense law firm whose partners have been representing people accused of crimes in New York since 1990. We handle all manner of criminal accusations, including driving while intoxicated, assault, theft offenses, and serious felony offenses such as weapons possession and drug possession. We have handled nearly every type of criminal accusation from the least to the most serious. We only accept criminal defense cases.

History

Established in 1996.

In 1996, after working together for about five years for a large New York City law firm, James Shalley and Don Murray left to form Shalley and Murray. Starting with one small office near the courthouse in Queens County, Shalley and Murray has since expanded to two locations — one in Kew Gardens, near the Queens Courthouse, and the other in Somers, New York, which serves as a base for a growing practice in Westchester and Putnam Counties.

Business Owner

Don Murray graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1989. While he was in law school, he worked for a prominent criminal defense lawyer who inspired him to pursue a career in criminal defense. Mr. Murray took a position at The Legal Aid Society in New York City as a trial lawyer where, for six years he handled a wide variety of criminal cases. While at the Legal Aid Society, Mr. Murray published a chapter in a series of books («Criminal Defense Techniques») related to the cross examination of witnesses regarding criminal convictions. In 1996, along with James Shalley, Mr. Murray founded Shalley and Murray as a criminal defense law firm. Since 1996, Mr. Murray has been defending people accused of crimes in New York City and, more recently, in Westchester and Putnam Counties. Mr. Murray has helped develop the business to expand to two offices — one in NYC and the other in Westchester County.
