I had a LONG wool coat that I wanted to get trimmed and altered to actually fit me. I called a few other places and they made it seem as if what I wanted was impossible, and kept on saying it’s too expensive too expensive, or we don’t do that or this. I really loved this coat, however, it was originally my mother’s so I wanted to get it tailored to fit me. When I called LaModa, the lady who answered the phone was very helpful and I right away said I was on my way. As I got there, the owner was able to assist me and was very helpful and amiable. A week later I went to get my coat, and I was in HUGE SMILES. It was beautiful! Couldn’t even notice that it was altered; it looked as if it was originally made as so. AND IT FITS PERFECTLY! I love it. I am very happy I chose LaModa, and would definitely choose them again. Great people, great prices, and at the end of it you get exactly what you want! :-)

I’ve been looking for a good tailor for some time now, specially after I bought a suit at Nordstrom and the guys there just refused to make the alterations I wanted. When I arrived at La Moda they knew exactly what I wanted and even made a few suggestion that I wasn’t aware of which made the jacket fit perfectly.
I highly recommend this place to anyone, will definitely come back.

BEWARE! Don’t go here. Find another tailor. After reading the reviews I thought La Moda was a good choice to have my daughter’s sweet 16 gown hemmed. The gown needed a simple hem and no other alterations needed. About 10 days later when I went to pick up the dress I had my daughter try it on and the hem was all uneven. One side of the dress was 2 inches too long while the other side of the dress was 4 inches too SHORT. They destroyed my daughter’s gown. She was in tears. Michael, the owner, said the only explanation he had was his assistant fitter measured wrong. I took the dress to a professional dress maker and she said it wasn’t even a finished hem. There was no way to save the dress without stitching the pieces back on and starting over. It was up to her ankle on one side. She couldn’t believe they cut the gown, she said he should have pinned it all the way around for an accurate hem. Lastly, when she was trying to fix what La Moda destroyed we found pins still falling out of the gown. I believe when I went to pick up the dress he did a fast hem threw it in the garment bag and hoped I wouldn’t notice till I left. I wanted to leave this review so no one else would be mislead. Save yourself the money and heartache and find someone else.

I found this place by searching on Google and it was a great decision to come here. Michael is a very talented tailor who on short notice (1 week) was able to make this custom vest for me. The fit is great, and he listened and delivered everything I asked for. I received so many compliments! And the price was reasonable. You won’t be disappointed with the service you receive here.

I have been coming to Michael at La MODA for several years. As a retired Bloomingdale’s employee working in the women’s department where alterations were an important part of customer satisfaction, I know how important it is to keep a customer satisfied. Michael manages to do all the fittings himself which is probably the main reason why the results are always spot-​on. The one time when I wasn’t completely satisfied with the job (I can be fanatical), Michael insisted he redo the alteration to my satisfaction, and had the job completed the following day. His prices are reasonable, and much less expensive than Manhattan prices. Why go anywhere else?

Got my suit tailored here today, came in the morning unprepared with nothing, got a great recommendation (Century 21) to get an affordable quality suit, by Mike (the owner) drove there got my suit, made it back to kew gardens, walked in got it measured up, was told to come back at closing time.
Get a call 1 hour earlier than expected, suit was ready, all the cuts were perfect and it was steamed and pressed.
Tried it on and it looked like I just jumped out of a GQ Magazine!
Had a Great experience, will definitely return again soon!

Michael does an excellent job and is a true expert and professional of the trade, very respectful, nice guy, and «old school» in that he is highly attentive to the customer’s needs and makes you feel confident that your job is in good hands and receiving his full consideration and care. I went here last week with my lady to get her tailored for a coat. The tailor wanted to take pictures of my girlfriend. She and I were both uncomfortable with that. I never experienced or known a reason for a tailor to take body pictures of a customer. Beware guys if you have your lady going there by themselves.

I love the service. I’m very glad to find the place. But, I found the assistant extremely rude when he talked to me as if I was not worth to be dealt with as a customer maybe because his english sucks or he was not in a good mood, but it was very unpleasant experience for me being disrespected. I will keep getting the service from them, but I will make as much effort as possible to avoid him.

I’ve only been to La Moda a few times because I don’t live in the neighborhood. However, if you want quality work done on your clothes then a trip here is well worth it. Michael and the other workers are all nice people who know what they’re doing when its comes to tailoring clothes. Out of all the tailors in Queens I’d say La Moda is a cut above the rest. You’ll get a custom tailored anything just the way you imagined so no need to worry about paying for a messed up job. The best in Queens

I have been going to them for quite some time now and must say I am very satisfied with their service, quality and price! I usually get all my dry cleaning done from there and once in a while some alteration work as well. My clothes are always ready on time and mostly their price is quite reasonable given the good service and quality they provide. If you live in the neighborhood, give them a try and you will see it for yourself.

I had a positive experience overall. They did what I had asked but it didn’t fit right so they fixed it without charging me extra. Tip: walk, don’t drive. Parking there is difficult. Staff is nice and friendly, and patient. They are good at what they do. I would recommend them.
