It’s a tiny little place, but it’s filled with great information & dioramas depicting Native American life. We had a lot of fun in the GIANT hollowed out tree log canoe, & while we were busy goofing off, one of the men responsible for making & transporting the canoe came by & gave us much more info about it. It was really cool! I’m not much of a museum-goer, so the simplicity of this one was just perfect for my short attention span. Plus, at $ 3 pp or $ 5 for two, it was a good deal, too!

Kettle Falls, WA: Wonderful self-guided tour! This historical center’s «People of the Falls» Interpretive Exhibit was very informative. The dioramas depicting First People culture in the area and their activities relative to each of the four seasons was also entertaining. See my photo of the tour brochure describing the first part of the tour exhibits, from Kettle Falls, through Spring, Summer, and a portion of Fall. You’ll have to stop in for the rest of the tour, which includes the remaining portion of Fall and Winter activities, as well as actions of Europeans when they arrived in the area. Just a quarter mile up the road on the north side of the center is the actual St. Paul’s Mission. It was built in 1845 by a Jesuit missionary. See link below for more information on the mission. Watch for a brown sign on the right, as you near the bridge over the Columbia River, leaving the current Kettle Falls. The Center is completely funded by donations. The recommended $ 3 per person, or two for $ 5, is going to a great cause. Staff is so friendly and throughly answers all questions.
