I would like to report a door to door driveway salesman who targeted my elderly, disabled, grandmother who is paralyzed, she was unable to view the whole driveway since they told her to apparently stay off of it while its still hot, so she viewed it from the garage, without being able to see the driveway part that went around the side of the house. I was told when I called, that they charge $ 1/sq ft, or $ 2 for two layers, but they charged her $ 3,600 for a single layer(which was supposed to be two layers of tar and pebbles) my grandmother now feels she’s been scammed, It wasn’t something she needed, she feels scammed by them and is afraid she lost the money. because once they had her money they never answered the phone again. my grandmother doesn’t drive and never uses the driveway. It was a tar & pebble driveway. The neighbors came over talking to them. The workers were extremely rude to the neighbors. One neighbor took a picture of their truck, they were also incredibly rude and defensive/offensive to me when I tried to call them out on their scam. They’re based in Kerrville, target houses with similar driveways. They showed pictures of what it would look like afterwards, a peach color. The picture they showed my grandma looked more like a peach colored cobblestone driveway. it turned out that It’s just a bunch of white rocks with more tar placed than rocks. It was very patchy, they were extremely rude to me as well when I voiced my concerns about their targeting a little old lady who is obviously not well as she has a caregiver at her house at all times. That in itself should’ve been a red flag that this lady is not well and it would be wrong to try to sell her such a cheap product at such an incredibly inflated price, I told them they’re ripping off an old lady, he stated that«I did her a favor, sir». They charged her $ 3,600 for work that took an hour, definitely less than two. She only realized how bad it looked when I showed her pictures of it. She wanted to cancel the check, but they cashed it less than 15 minutes after they left. Even though they told her that if she wasn’t happy with it, she didn’t have to pay. Verbal agreements do constitute a legal binding agreement in the State of Texas please help my grandmother bring these guys to justice. When I asked them for the name of their company, he hung up on me, he didn’t respond to text messages asking to return the money as was agreed upon in the event that she wasnt happy with it. She now thinks its horrible looking upon viewing the picture I took showing it to be very splotchy. Then she was able to get her wheelchair down the ramp and view the part of the driveway that she was unable to see before and they really did a very poor job on it! She’s mad and the neighbors didn’t like it and they told the workers they were overcharging this old lady, they were entirely rude to all of her neighbors. Using very foul language. As I mentioned they wouldn’t say the name of their business when I called them, they hung up on me when I asked and never called back, their voicemail isn’t set up, so you can’t leave a message. They don’t answer the phone and I’m certain that they’re not licensed. Please help us bring awareness to this situation, hopefully we can end this with my grandmother receiving the refund they agreed to give if she wasn’t satisfied, which she’s not. They answer the phone«hello» instead of «All Star Asphalt & Paving» as it states on their business card. It also does appear that they’re using the name of another company to conduct their business. The only information I have on this company is: All Star Asphalt & Paving Free estimate Family operated Lasts 10 – 12 years(advertises as the same material used on public roads over 70 years ago) Gives a photo flier of a driveway with peach colored cobblestones, says hers will look like that. That photo wasn’t even the same kind of material or rock. So they lied to and tricked her about what kind of driveway she was buying. Then before she signed the contract, he tried to make her pay $ 3,800, luckily she caught that, so they just left the contract(which was likely full of holes anyway) still stating $ 3,800 –didn’t charge tax or labor, they claim, and again, stated they did her a favor. Cell phone number:(830) 928‑6837 — They gave us no address. Please help us bring them to justice by refunding her money. It’s a legally binding contract to honor your verbal agreements in the state of Texas Their business card did not have their address. It also appears that they are working unlicensed & under another company’s name. Not to mention he stated that he wasn’t charging taxes or labor
