1 star only because you have to rate the place to write a review. From the moment we drove into the camp area we were treated very rudely. The camp host was disrespectful and very rude to all of the group we were with, never smiling and not letting us ask questions. We were told to turn our music down at 4:00 p.m. and it couldn’t even be heard from the next campsite. Even though our group took up the whole side of the camp ground we were treated like we were disturbing the whole camp. So if you want to have any fun at all with the group you are with… just forget this place.

We camp here every year, for the last three years in a row. Robin is a wonderful wonderful WONDERFUL camp host, always welcoming us back with a giant smile! She has always sure to remind us of the weather… what’s going on in town… where to take to kids to escape the heat…(the Museum in town is AWESOME!) She’s always cleaning or going from site to site to make sure everyone is ok or needs anything. She keeps the grounds and restrooms spotless! I recommend this camping site to everyone!

There are few places I would provide a review for, but Mtn River Adventures is definitely one worth raving about and highly recommending.
Pricing is extremely fair and equipment is quality. Your safety is top concern but a high level of fun is a close second.
John, the owner is a great outdoor enthusiast who is willing to go above and beyond to ensure your experience matches your needs and expectations. He also went out of his way to overnight mail some personal belongings after we had left town… The kind of integrity lost with most folks you meet.
If you are looking for adventure, look no further. You’ve found the right spot.

The trip was OK. Not the downhill mountain bike experience my friends and I were looking for. It is more of a downhill cruise on a paved road. The route could be done on a road bike or beach cruiser. Also, note that it is freezing at the top, so make sure to wear something warm. You never get a chance to warm up either. The large group slows you down and you have to stop and wait every couple miles. Most of the staff is friendly except the manager, John. He will try to nickel and dime you. One of the people in our group could not make it that day, but John charged the credit card that we made the reservation with for them anyways. My advice would be to bring a bike, or rent from somewhere else, and just catch a ride to the top. There are plenty of other, better trails you could do in the area, like Cannell Meadow Trail.

This place has the most reasonable pricing when it comes to river rafting. Been planning to do this for a while and have done a lot of research. We did the Double Blitz and the kids had a blast. Water level was low this year due to the drought but still the rapids was fun. Two people on each raft was more exciting. We get to see who among in our group got stuck on the rocks more often. It was our first time to do this kind of activity and it was a challenge and thrill at the same time. The guides were awesome and patient they deserve a medal.

This was a great experience! I came out here with a group of six and camped out for three days.
First day: white water rafting but considering the drought it was more like inflatable kayaking. Our guides were Sara and Mike, who were very knowledgeable and did their best to keep us safe. My only regret was volunteering. My boyfriend and I went on an inflatable raft boat looking thing only to be put to work and lug our lunch instead of enjoying the kayaking experience. Tip: do not volunteer. It takes away from your experience and frankly we felt like mules. So this was a one star experience.
Day 2: rock/​mountain climbing. This was definitely a five star experience. Marcos and Matt were our guides and their knowledge, experience and expertise made us feel very safe and confident. Considering that I’m afraid of heights and I cried at the top, Marcos was very… VERY… patient with me as I took a few minutes to repel down. Given their expertise, I even climbed up to the more challenging climb. Granted I didn’t look down but I did it!
Day 3: mountain biking with Dan the man and Brian. I must have fallen six times but I came home with many memories, as Dan puts it =) This was also a great experience with the scenic views, the adrenaline rush and the informational tips were very helpful. I fell a lot less.
Opportunities: given that they asked for our height, weight and level of experience ahead of time, for rafting management should have another guide or paddler to help take the lunch instead of having a pair of volunteers miss out on the experience of their own kayak. Or at least give the volunteer a heads up about what to expect. We came out with blisters and were sore the next day when the rest of our party was cruising down the river. Mountain climbing: shoes for a six footed man who wears size 12. He did not fit into the size 10 that was available. Thank you Marcos for sharing your hybrid shoe but his toes was unable to wedge into the rocks. And finally biking, two of our smaller members had bikes that were too big and made the ride uncomfortable. Better planning and coordination would have made this a five star experience.

These guys are GREAT!
My friends and I went to Kernville for a weekend kayaking trip, and although the water was low and thus the rapids were super calm, we had a great time — largely because of Mountain & River Adventures! Very nice people, it feels very family-​run. Our guides were fabulous, really knew what they were doing. They gave us lots of delicious food and we ended up hanging out with them a lot! Plus their prices were better than the others places I investigated up there.
It’s really a great place, we’ll be trying their other outings like mountain biking as long as the drought continues. If you want a fun, friendly but safe staff to help you for a weekend trip, THIS is the company to hire!

Amazing place. Very clean and beautiful campground. The staff is all very very helpful and friendly. Right on the river. Beautiful facilities. And most of all epic adventures. If you haven’t been here add this to your must do list. Especially shuttlefest. We cant wait to go back. Thank you to all the staff you are all amazing. Thank you for going out of your way to help us on sunday with our shuttle snafu. We are much appreciative of it. See ya soon.

Great crew of people. I used them to shuttle ride the Cannell Plunge and they did and great job. They got us up to the top quickly and the driver was nice and informative.

Nature at its finest. This place shows the natural beauty, core simplicity, and soothing effects of nature. You’ll be greeted by the serene view and the calming sound of the river.
~Aspects~
Location: quite further than most of the camps, you’ll at least pass by 4~6 other camps. It’s worth coming to this one though because it’s closer to the town and half way to the «trail of 100 giants.»
Campsite: Separated by odd and even numbers and will fit at least 2~3 medium sized tents in one camping ground number. Sand and rocks all around the campsite. Very close to the river (you can actually hear it loud and clear). Has their own bathroom for brushing, showering (hot water available), and has a toilet.
*Cleanliness: [five-​stars] very clean! considering there’s only one caretaker.
*Noise Level: [three-stars~five-stars] depends, if you want to party out at certain nights that is impossible because fun has to seize at 10pm then resumes at 7am. But if you crave for peace and quiet then… Yeah. (It really depends on how loud the group next to you are).
*Activities: Tubing, rafting, hiking, fishing, and anything you can imagine a camping site has to offer.
Overall: If you want a break from the urban jungle then come to this place. Unwind and be cleansed from all the pollution and stress that the city has put you through. The river will sing you to sleep for those sleepless nights.

Overall my groups experience was amazing. We had Logan as our guide down the lower Kern, he was above and beyond awesome to us. The trip was pretty mild but was great for our first time rafters in the group. The trip was pretty pricey but we all agreed it was worth it at the end. We made frequent stops to swim, jump off rocks, check out landmark sites and more. We even had an encounter with Logan’s ex girlfriend who was sun bathing on the side of the river. She was ok looking.

Awesome, awesome, awesome! My 9 year old son and I just had an epic weekend whitewater rafting and kayaking thanks to the friendly and knowledgable guides at MRA. We booked our trip for our Trailblazers group and spent the weekend camping at their resort and playing in the Kern river. They easily accommodated our group of almost 70 fathers and sons/​daughters! The entire experience was so much fun and with a group our size we still got plenty of attention from the staff. Other than the overpriced souvenir photos (which are incredible in quality) and getting off to a slow/​late start initially, the day of rafting/​kayaking was incredible. Safety was always of paramount concern and never felt like an issue. These guys are pros and show the experience they have through delivering amazing memories that my son and I will never forget. Thank you!

We used MRA’s campground for a reunion of friends and our kids. I am a local and never realized this gem in my area! The campground host, Robin, was super friendly and helpful, the campground is georgeous, and the bathrooms and showers were wonderful. I am happy to recommend this campground to families!

Excellent customer service! Fun raft trip, well organized and on time. Also, the owner is a great resource for local MTB trails, which is why we were in Kernville. Raft trip was a little bonus fun.

Awesome group of people!!! MRO always takes good care of us. With a wife and young child (another on the way) I don’t make it up there as much as I would like. I do try and go at least once a year to ride Cannel Plunge. This is a ‘bucket list” ride and needs to be done.

We went white water rafting and it was bad ass! Our guide was this sweet, knowledgable girl. We decided to go again and our guide was a cocky, arrogant teenage boy. It took all of my might not to punch him in the dick. I would absolutely go again, but I would rather slice my arms than be stuck in a boat with that arrogant son of a bitch again. But all other staff ruled!

I don’t think you are being completeley honest here, I acknowledge sincere apologies, you are doing it for press more than anything. As I mentioned to you on my earlier post I have 4 business’s and to me customer satisfaction is my number one priority, I do what ever it takes to make that customer happy. We are not perfect and all make mistakes and I have made mistakes like yours, but unlike you I honored what ever the expired price was. And to be honest with you the money in this transaction is not a big concern to me it’s the principal of your business that counts. Again good luck with your business.

Wow, I had such a great time white water rafting here and also staying on their campgrounds. It was nice to get a 2 for 1 deal. At about $ 160 a person for a half day of rafting + campsite (split amongst 7 people), it was definitely worth it.
Our guide was newer however, made us feel like we were in good hands. Granted, we fell in the water about two times but that just added to the experience. At the end, they offer you a beverage and you get to see some photos taken and have the option of buying them. As expected, these pictures cost a pretty penny so that was probably the only glaring thing about this place.
The campsite is clean, organized, and I heard have one of the nicer bathrooms. It is spacious, you get a picnic bench and a fire pit. It’s a nice open space so you get a nice view of the night sky.
I wrote this review about 1 hour from getting home from the trip. Usually quick reviews are a great indication I had a wonderful time.

Whitewater rafting is seriously fun! 24 Boy Scouts and dads just got back from a great weekend. After a leisurely 5 ½ drive thru Friday afternoon traffic, we made it up to camp.
The campsite and river adventure rentals are owned and operated by the same company. This made the logistics really easy. The campsites are your typical affair and the bathrooms are clean and well lit. Hot showers, too! We opted for the meal package so that made things much easier. They have an amphitheater type of campfire set up with an outdoor kitchen and picnic tables. It was not gourmet but the food was quite good and plentiful at all of the meals.
The rafting was terrific. 6 person rafts with a trained guide doing the steering. We had two long runs in the morning, lunch and two more long runs in the afternoon. The guides were very helpful and friendly. Clean bus rides back up the mountain hosted by an Eagle Scout.
Very highly recommended for your group functions.
