History

Established in 2001.

Amanzi Marble and Granite started in Omar Kalaf’s garage with one saw, a diamond blade, a clamp and a garden hose. Today, the company sits on four acres in a 20,000-square-foot fully automated facility. Amanzi has won numerous awards in the community. In March 2011, the company won an Honorable Mention at the Better Business Bureau 2011 Marketplace Ethics Awards in Winston-​Salem. Later in 2013 they won the award for all of Western North Carolina. They’ve also won the Greensboro Builders Association award for «Associate of the Year’ in 2010 and the Kernersville Chamber «Business of the Month» for May 2014.

Business Owner

Omar Kalaf is owner of Amanzi Marble & Granite in Kernersville. A former semipro hockey player in Canada, Kalaf always liked working with his hands. After an injury ended his career, he came to Kernersville to live with family while he recuperated. He had several stints of construction work before and wanted a business of his own. After starting in his garage, Kalaf moved to a rented space down the road. And the rest, as they say is history.
