Safeway

It’s hard to get into the parking lot if your heading west on 208^th. That intersection is so busy! There is no left hand turn and u turns are impossible. But that’s just the way the road is, inconvenient but not safeway fault.
The crowd there is pretty ghetto, inside and out. But the store is pretty clean.
The lines are always long, they need to staff up. If they can’t afford to staff cashiers, they definitely cannot afford to loose shoppers that do not want to wait 20 mins in line.
The doughnut section looked very good, so I grabbed a dozen. When I got home I opened the box and took a bite out of a stale doughnut. I checked them all, they were all stale. Nothing gets more disappointing than that.
We bought a pie there. When we got home, we noticed there was mold growing on the top of it that we did not catch before we left the store. Gross. Well we took it right back, the manager looked at it and did not seem to care. Looked at us like we were stupid for returning it, even with proof that we just purchased it. We went back to the bakery to get another pie, and they all had spots of mold growing on it.
Grossed out, we decided to let the employees in the bakery know, they replied, «ok…» and shrugged us off. No form of apology or aknolegement or sign that it would not happen again, or that they would remove it imediately. They didn’t care either. Nobody cared.
Be cautious what you buy there. They aparently do not care about the safety of the food you eat there.

I spend over $ 1200 a month at Safeway. I will go to the Renton Safeway in the future.
The Kent Safewa is a dump. The people in the meat/​seafood department are nice, as are the cashiers. Management is the culprit her. All of the managers have a major attitude problem. I was almost run over by a shoplifter in a motorized shopping cart, and when I complained, the manager was totally indifferent. He also had a very bad attitude when I complained about the filthy restroom. Long lines at the cashier, and they have an extremely high employee turnover. The Renton store on Petrovisky is 10 times as good, with the same prices and competent management. I will drive the extra miles to avoid the Kent Safeway, or even go to QFC if necessary. Don’t waste your money here.

Zero stars. I’m a regular at this Safeway. Don’t know why I keep forgetting the lines will never be shorter than 5 – 10 min wait.
There is no self check out, and the lines are always outrageously long.
Just stood in line to buy two items, took me 1 minute to shop and 20 minutes to wait in line.

If I could give zero stars I would. One express lane open and one regular cashier with lines going across the front of the store around the corner at the deli down that lane halfway to the dairy case. Un-​freeking acceptable. POOREST customer service decision Ever. And then our cashier wants the coupons for candy before she’ll start ringing our order? WTH?

This store treats all customers as if you’re a thief. They have more cameras all around the store than a bank does!!! I don’t live in Kent so I’m not sure how bad the theft rate is. I only stop in once in a great while when I’m at my business partners house

Clean location, big parking lot, and RIGHT next to Phở t-​q. The only thing I can’t get over is how fake the staff is. I’ve had the same guy the last three times I’ve gone and he acts like he cares so much about how my day is going but dude… Change your tone or maybe just don’t ask if you’re not interested! I can’t stand small talk with somebody who doesn’t like small talk either.

This store is hit and miss.
I find that the staff and clerks are almost always pleasant and nice. However, there are sometimes lacking in the quantity of checkers.
I used to come right near the end of my work day and the lines were terrible, not sure if the staffing situation was bad, but it seems there aren’t that many checking at the busiest times.
Now that i come during the day, it is much easier! I know, not rocket science.
The produce people always say hi and are willing to help me find items.
The bakery and butchers as well.

It annoys me that you can’t make a left turn onto 208^th when exiting Safeway.
This Safeway has a Bank of America in it.
The bathroom is in the back of the store… the way back.
This is an OK Safeway in terms of cleanliness and staff (at least the deli, meat/​seafood and cashier staff).

Initially, I thought this was one of the nicer Safeways. However, after my encounter with a Grocery MANAGER named, Ryan’s little attitude, I am thinking differently. He was extremely rude, and even a bit accusational (is that a word?), when I wanted to return something. He muttered, «What’s wrong with it?», with an attitude, as if I took time to bring something back for no reason. Being that you are the GROCERY MANAGER, some sort of apology should have been uttered. He walked away and dismissed me, and said nothing, even after I expressed my displeasure.
Safeway, realllly needs to work on the Customer Service of their little pissy employees. It’s bad enough, I have to trip around them restocking, while im shopping. Ya wanna restock shelves? do it overnight. start earlier. Extremely annoying running from cranes, crates, and shit while trying to shop. Not everyone shops between 10am-​7pm or whatever.
I am considering following up with the store manager on Ryan’s unacceptable behavior, as well as the night cashier with the bad bumpy face. I understand you work at night, because your customer service skills arent up to par, but when it’s time to cash customer’s out, it’s time to be personable. I will say, the deli clerks were nice one time I stopped here, and the Chinese Express food was fresh and excellent which is rare…

I like the Safeway deli sandwiches for my lunch however if you read my other posts, I don’t like shopping at Safeway. The membership card keeps you from paying inflated prices, not savings.

Overall, their selection of products is decent (except for wine — sadly very limited). They’ve also got a few friendly workers — especially cashiers.
One time, my boyfriend and I did our weekly shopping trip here and the total came out to $ 100 when we usually spend about half that amount at Fred Meyer. Needless to say, it’s expensive (even with the Safeway card «discounts»).
Anyway, there are two things that keep me coming back to Safeway on a regular basis and they are things that I cannot find anywhere else:
1) Their deli’s ready-​to-​bake pizza dough, $ 1.50. No joke, this pizza dough is the shizzle. Me and the bf have a homemade pizza night once a week and this stuff kills.
2) Their bakery’s chocolate chip muffins. Om nom nom. They’re like, white muffins with chocolate chips and they are so divine. I haven’t found any other grocery stores that make these.

I used to live near this Safeway when I lived in the Renton Highlands. I never saw it before it was remodeled, but I think it is a beautiful store. I also really appreciated their small gluten free section which seems to keep growing and growing.
The people have always been nice and helpful. I love Safeway’s gas rewards, and this Safeway has a gas station. Bonus. I like this store better than the QFC that is down the street.

Safeway is Safeway is Safeway. I personally don’t like this location, but it’s next door to my veterinary office and they have ATM’s near the front of the store.
Usually when I go here I am either needing last minute holiday dinner cooking items or it’s freaking late, the other stores are closed and I want ice cream or something similar.
Personally I don’t like this location at all. The last time I went a guy stood at the front door with his jaw dropped staring at me and continued to do so while I was using the ATM. I didn’t feel safe getting cash out so I printed a balance inquiry and left.- What buddy? You never seen a chick wearing motorcycle gear before?
Scummy Kent. Ick.

This place is Isnt the best. im usually here late though… People are ghetto, both customers and employees especially after 10pm. it turns into a american carnage hot spot. They only use one checker even if the line has 8 people in it and the person checking out always seems lost, like they don’t normally check out.

One thing I have to say especially if you are from the East Coast, they carry Carvel Ice cream cakes! whooohoooo!!! I love those crunchies! they don’t have Fudgie the Whale but I will grab that ice cream cake when I need the fix!
they do carry some items I can’t find at Top Foods or Fred Meyers so I may go to Safeway specifically for it. Off the top of my head, I prefer their bagels, they have some selections on frozen breakfast sandwiches and frozen veggies combos that I haven’t seen at the other stores.
Also has a Starbucks, none at Fred Meyer of course, the one at Top closed while back.

So much better than Albertsons across the street. Everything is easy to find. If for some reason you can’t find something there is always someone there to help you. The guys in the meat department always have smiles on their faces and are willing to repackage things if they aren’t quite the size you’re looking for.
