I have been going to this restaurant for years. The name has changed over the years but the food and service has remained constant.

I think El Palmar is underrated. 2.5 stars? No, it’s better than that. The tables are cheerfully painted, they bring you warm chips to go with your salsa, the service was on point. The food is solid. It’s not the best Mexican I’ve ever had, but it’s solid. I like the mole chicken. This is in our regular rotation for lunch restaurants in Kent and it’s a good one. Matter of fact, I wonder what’s for lunch today…

My husband and I had a date night after enjoying a night in Seattle we were heading home and realized it was 12 and a nice good drink and some music sounded good. So we go to el Palmar enjoy a little dancing and a drink… only it took about 10 – 15 min to get a drink because there was 1 bartender on a busy Saturday night and as for the dancing it was nice. except the part where I’m booty bumping everyone around me because the dance floor is so small. The service there is just ridiculous. Felt uncomfortable heading to the woman’s bathroom because there were guys all by the door. The security guys in the front are really nice and helpful. I Had no idea what taxi company to call so he called a taxi for me and my husband and was really nice. :)

Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and had a great meal with my son. The food was excellent. Servers were friendly and offered us frequent refills on chips and soda. That said, there were few customers in the restaurant at that time of day, so I’m not sure if this would be the case during busier times(but I hope so!). There’s good potential here – I hope management addresses some of the issues brought up by other reviewers – and maybe they already have; I’m just not in a position to make that evaluation based on my one visit. I’d certainly go back again.

Hopefully they improve their service because the food is good, owner herminio takes action on important matters going on at his restaurant that deserve my respect, will try again since it’s close to my work.

Come here often for lunch, but realized recently that they were over changing me. Lunch menu burrito is supposed to be $ 7.99 and they were charging me $ 10.99. I pointed it out when I noticed and they fixed it. Decided to give them another chance today and pay attention to the price. Got charged $ 3.29 for a side of guac. Seriously? A side of guac and sour cream was on their menu for less than that. The food is good, but don’t like getting screwed over on the prices. Doubt I’ll be returning. Pay attention to prices when you go.

Although I have eaten here several time over the years from Maya’s to No Que No, I was very skeptical of trying this place based on the poor reviews. I can tell you after dining there the food was pretty impressive, B+, if not A material, but the service was a flat out fail! It appeared that servers were floating all over and between the bar, but we had to beg for water, salsa and it took nearly 15 minutes for our credit card clip to come. The server claimed it was a computer issue, but based on what I saw, she was serving in the bar and forgot to run it. The food was good enough to demand a return, but the server really turned me off, they appeared to have no idea how to run a business and seeing as some people in the bar looked sloppy drunk, their business ethics appeared to be in question as well. Great food, can’t recommend them.

They use to be El No Que No but changed hands earlier this year. I come here for the Tortilla Soup — which I do enjoy — but the place is real run down. If you consider downtown Kent as a place best stayed away from at night — La Crescenta perfectly fits in. The men’s room has no door and which sort of matches the décor :) I will say the chairs are fun — bright and nicely painted but the rest of the place could use an upgrade. We have had the Nachos and they were excellent. The prices are in the correct range for the type of food they serve and you get a nice serving of both beans and a second of salsa with a fair amount of fresh chips. Serve could be improved but they have gotten better and they do keep my Coke and chips filled. I usually have to find the waitress to pay my bill. Parking has been bad in a lot they share with a pawn shop. Twice I have not remained since I could not find a spot so I would hate to think what they might be at night.
