Obviously, as you can see from the numerous single-​star reviews of this company, they just keep right on providing lousy service, so I am under no delusions that this review will impact them in any way. That said, I do hope that it will warn others away from using this company. I moved from the midwest to the pacific northwest; I had arranged for other movers and was told by my employer at the last minute that I needed to use Chipman. I have moved 10 times in 15 years, so I understand that things can go wrong with moving. That said, this was absolutely the worst experience ever. They lost literally 95% of the pieces of furniture in my condo except 1 of 2 bed frames. I’m talking about a gigantic couch, two chairs, and two rugs. Strangely enough, of course everything that is missing is the «good furniture” – they managed to deliver my awful rocking chair. Extremely suspicious. The best part is that the warehouse supervisor described my furniture to me (without my telling him) better than I ever could, and yet, 3 weeks later, no one can find it (it was in storage for fewer than 48 hours), and no one will return my calls or emails. There is no evidence that a «missing items report» was ever filed. To say I am disgusted is an absolute understatement. Save your pennies, sell your things and buy new ones, wait to move, do whatever you need to. Don’t use this company.

Completely screwed us! We had an estimate, a date, and on calling to confirm AGAIN, were told, «you never got back to me» which we had indeed done. «So, now we are completely booked and nothing we can or will do». Apparently they were booked by erasing us! They people we spoke to were very frazzled and disorganized, so maybe they just lost the work? Boss has told me he is trying to track down the paper trail, but bottom line is we are not going to be served. BEWARE!

I did an interstate move with them, and had them move my motorcycle along with all my house stuff. I got full value coverage.
They damaged my bike, I submitted a claim, they closed it. Said that they’d sent me a letter stating that if I didn’t reply within three weeks they would close my claim, but they never sent any such letter. After much arguing, they re-​opened my claim.
They then refused to cover the damage to my bike, stating that they couldn’t see any damage in the photographs. It’s a chrome muffler, and chrome is shiny, so all that showed up in the photographs were a bunch of reflections. Scratches in the chrome would have only showed up had the furniture repairman who came out to take the photos, done something special with lighting and backgrounds so that the photo would show the surface of the chrome, instead of noisy reflections of the rest of my garage. They claim the driver remembered a conversation with me, EIGHT MONTHS PRIOR, wherein I supposedly told him I’d wrecked the bike, and therefore they would not cover it. So they sent it to arbitration.
It’s a $ 550 repair. It would have been a very simple matter for them to fix it– replacing the muffler would have been cheaper than rechroming to fix the cosmetic damage done by their guys.
Never, ever use them. Ever.

Did an interstate move. Got three estimates. The one from here was the lowest and was binding and not-​to-​exceed without any bargaining. Warren Blake did our inspection and I would recommend him to others. He went above and beyond our expectations. Helped me setup moving my car with another service as well (for free). Our stuff was pack, shipped, and unloaded without an issue. United accepted credit cards, which was great as I was being reimbursed.

Not a good experience. They lost one of my boxes and damaged some book shelves made of a very strong metal. Cannot understand how they got damaged unless they drove over them!
I have moved long distance many times and this was my worst experience. If you value your belongings choose another mover.
In addition they charged me much more than the quote, in fact more than they were legally allowed to charge me above the quote. So I had to phone up to get it corrected.

I chose Chipman after interviewing 6 carriers for our cross country move. The price wasnt the absolute lowest, but the customer service and the in-​home estimate person Jerry was fantastic! I just had a good feeling.
We finalized all the paperwork… all nine hundred of my questions were answered, stuff was packed up on time the day we confirmed and the movers were friendly.
Then the sh*t hit hte fan for my family. My husbands job we were moving for fell through and SO many changes were done in the midst of our move on our end that we had to put delivery of our items on hold and move everything into storage temporarily — or so we thought.
The reps Debbie A and Debbie H have been nothing but super nice and helpful with us and all the changes. Our «Temp» storage turned into one year later almost… and I still get great communication from them, they are more than willing to work with payment plans for us… which is so helpful during this stressful time.
All and all, I am so happy to have such wonderful people behind me in this time of change. I really feel my stuff is safe with them and I dont have to worry about it being moved around or being sold for being there so long!
We havent experienced the delivery part — but if it is half the customer service weve had so far… I would be delighted.
