Class started a little late but the instructor was apologetic. Was a little put off that the classroom was an airsoft warehouse but after all was said and done the facility worked fine. Overall a good experience. Learned a good amount and revealed many misconceptions and weaknesses in my situational awareness skills and reaction to self defense scenarios.
Pros: Use of simunition and real firearms provides a sense of realism. Good legal and practical advice with regards to the different scenarios. Another group cancelled and so we were given time to have some team vs team skirmishes with simunition.
Cons: Could have used more structure in the discussion sessions after each scenario. Maybe handouts would be helpful because there was a lot of information and not too many talking points. Punctuality of the instructor would be appreciated. My friend brought his glock but the armorer couldn’t get it to work with the simunition. I wanted to use the Sig but the instructor forgot it.
Just a general comment about the class structure. I understand it’s the nature of the class that there is one on one instruction during scenarios, but during that time everyone else in the group has a lot of downtime to kill. It wasn’t terrible since we were only a group of 4, but I could see this as being an issue had the group size been larger. Not sure what the solution is here but maybe another instructor could come on to help with getting through the participants when large groups come in or maybe have some verbal instruction or course material to review for people waiting their turn.

Also purchased this deal from Tippr to attend the Defensive Pistol Course. Arrived on the scheduled day to find the facility closed and no one there. Called and spoke to the same guy who originally registered us. He claims he couldn’t find our registrations anywhere. If you bought this deal from Tippr, get your money back! And run far, far away from Cascadia Tactical. Talk about
shady business practices!

Bought a Tippr groupon like thing for this place with a friend of mine. Scheduled the appointment, showed up, and no one was there. We called the number on the sign and after 20 minutes of trying we got ahold of Dave. He told us his staff should have called us to reachedule but he was out of town. He has offered to call us back when he’s in town to make it right so it remains to be seen. If he does correct the error I’ll gladly change the review.
UPDATE: The owner refunded our money and offered a free session.
