This location is very close to my apartment so this was my main grocery store for almost 3 years. The first problem I had at this location was when I bought celery to make soup, and cut it open when I got home to find it mushy and infested with dead gnats inside! I had another experience with buying baby carrots that were completely rotten in the middle of the bag when I got home. The«fresh» herbs are always visibly rotten. After my second bad experience I always go to the Piggly Wiggly around the corner for produce and have NEVER had a problem. The final straw was when I bought a gallon of milk and it was solid-chunk bad almost a week BEFORE the sell-by date. I called the store and was extremely upset, and they offered to replace the milk and gave me a $ 10 gift card for my troubles. The items at this store are so often already expired or rotten that it is not worth shopping at. The deli is HORRIBLE. They also recently lost their liquor license for selling to minors. I hope the health department does a serious investigation on this store because it is truly horrifying. I have never had to write a negative review for a grocery store but I have had nothing but awful experiences at this one.’

I suspect the other reviewers may have been reviewing Pick N Saves or other groceries in general. This review is for the Pick N Save at 18th and 30th. I have found this to be the very best of the local grocery store options as well as the best of the Pick N Save chain. The cashiers get to know you by name, the manager and clerks are helpful beyond belief, and the cleanliness factor is at the top of the scale. The selection available is outstanding. The fruits and veggies always have something on a deep sale as do the meats which means you can have constant variety in your diet for a very cheap price. There are pretty good vegetarian options also. I do wish they had a greater variety of low sodium foods, but they have been nice enough to order whatever I need to arrive with the next shipment they receive. Helpful hints: the price of chicken breasts per pound often starts the week at $ 3.99. Before two weeks pass the price usually dips to $ 1.99 or less. They are outstanding, with a high quality cut. Similarly, frozen fruits can be had at unbelievable deals if you are patient and then load up. If you are impatient, the Piggy Wiggly is just down the road, and most folks tend to shop at both to achieve the best deals. This Pick N Save(18th) is my favorite of the two choices nearby, simply because the customer service is the best I’ve had in a grocery store.

A couple of weeks later: still many packages of expired lunch meat on the shelves.

While visiting home, my mom constantly sends me on grocery runs for her. When a holiday like Turkey Day, Easter or Christmas arrives, she ALWAYS forgets something for the table. In other words, I am very, VERY familiar with this grocery store and a few things are always found to be true: –Unfriendly cashiers. –The cashiers are also Pick ‘n Save Card Nazis. If you forget your card, don’t count on them just swiping their own card or asking you for your phone number. –Fair selection of pastries, fresh produce, and alcohol. –Lacking selection of personal products(deodorant, for instance). –Since it is the closest grocery store to my house, and not extremely overpriced like other competitors, I continue to come here. I usually visit Deal$ or Walgreens next door to get some basics for 1⁄5th of the price where I don’t mind the lack of friendliness.
