Mai House Seafood Grill and Bar

Awesomeness.
The girls were super nice to us. The bartender even had me try my drink, then remade it. It was her first time making it and it wasn’t sweet enough. She fixed it and it was sooooo good!
We will come back time and time again.

What a complete failure!
As you walk in, you’re hit w a pungent fishy smell. Really?! Never have I walked to a seafood/​steak place that smells like this. Disgusting.
The décor looks as if target and hot topics had a child and yaked. The tile on the walls make you imagine you’re in a cave, and the TVs as if you’re in a sports bar. There’s a gigantic crab and lights I the rear as if you’re in a club.
I ordered a gin fiz and the bacon wrapped prawns. The drink was weak, more like a fiz w out gin. As a specialty drink, I expected more. The skewers, well, how can you mess that up. Not to bad, probably the only thing that I enjoyed.
Their soup of the day, is apparently always clam chowder, so I was excited. I love clam chowder. Well, if you want luke warm clam chowder, this is for you. Clam chowder should come to you screaming and should cool down and not be that cool till the last spoonful. Horrendous.
I had the surf and turf, and a grainy steak… I didn’t even finish it. I ate the crab, but then again, how can you mess up something all you do is boil it.
Mai House is a complete joke. I don’t know what the owners were thinking of doing here, but they should have stuck to Fujis Then again, there Richland location of Fujis is obviously not on par to what it was in Kennewick.
I gave this place one star, because we have to give that as a the minimum.
This place is a failure and can’t wait to see something worthwhile come and take its place.

We really enjoyed our trip to Mai house! Small and has a classy sports bar vibe to it! Had the shrimp linguini, clam chowder and the dumplings. Everything was delicious and came out hot!
We will definitely be back when we’re on this side of town.

Mai House is a new restaurant and Iike all new restaurants, they need to sort some things out and figure out a strategy to improve this place. It has potential.
Positives:
Salmon plate was juicy and tasty.
Veggies on the steak were seasoned well.
Shrimp bisque was divine.
Service was good and attentive.
Cons:
Sirloin was DRY.
Calamari was a bit salty.
Shrimp was small and underwhelming. Tiny bite-​sized salmon.
Small portions vs cost.
Bread was lacking in chewiness. Not good.
Those dang flies…
Ridiculous:
If you print on your menu the almost $ 20.00 dinner (pasta dish) comes with a salad or a soup with an upgrade, then I’d highly suggest you honor that. Don’t have your waitstaff tell customers that the management «changed their minds» and suddenly don’t want to give customers the food it’s supposed to come with. That makes customers very unhappy.
Is it worth going back to see if they improve? Sure but not running back anytime soon.

Food was a rather bland, service was actually very attentive and curious, and prices, however, are a bit high for the quality/​quantity you actual receive. The real problem was all the flies! I counted 12 circling our table, or resting nearby. Don’t really end up having much of an appetite when you’re constantly shooing files away from your face, especially in a ‘classy’ restaurant/​bar, which is was Mai House is obviously striving for.
Also, why are your dozen-​plus tv’s all showing the same game/​channel? I can see all of them from just about anywhere in the place, so why not give some variety.
I don’t think I’ll come back, because of the prices and minimal menu offerings, I think I’d rather head across the street when looking for a good meal out.
