Eckman Family Dentistry

I recently had a cavity filled, but had problems with the work done. I returned to discuss these concerns and hopefully have them fixed. The new dentist barely listened to me, denied there was anything wrong, and was rude. In my opinion, a dentist should thoughtfully listen to a patient’s concerns and try to work with them to ensure satisfaction, not invalidate their concerns. The staff is usually very nice. However the new dentist can be rude and has a poor «chair side» manner. Will find a new dentist.

Hygiene cleaning in 90 – 120 seconds? Not thorough by any stretch. Does NOT perform routine sealants (recommended by ADA as ROUTINE practice because it PREVENTS CAVITIES FOR YEARS). Does NOT wash hands (hepatitis anyone)? Routine cleanings (yes the 1 – 2 minute ones) split in 2 visits to maximize payment, and Eckman doesn’t do most of the work, all the assistants do! Why seal teeth when you can line your pocket with cavities for years to come? Eckman completely botched a $ 2500 crown and wants the same payment again gluing after I told him it wasn’t in correctly (Now he wants $ 2500 again when I came right back in showing hi it was botched!!! It’s almost as if he did it on purpose! My former dentist sealed teeth every 2 years (if worn), saying «no cavities for the next 5 years», he would redo crowns «at cost» if it was a misfit and he would clean teeth taking the full 15 – 20 minutes for a THOROUGH job. Eckman’s staff are HORRIBLY rushed, work is shoddy to make you return. (Read all the other reviews about these same concerns). This is just another business and it’s clear they’re purely focused on maximizing payment with little work. First time I saw this blatantly with the 2 visit routine cleaning scheme while they were racing to see who could clean faster. Fun fun in my mouth and it wasn’t properly cleaned! How juvenile, betting in front of patients. Don’t count on this office if you want your teeth fixed. Clean the uppers (5 minute total visit) one payment. Return next week to clean bottoms? 5 min total visit (my other dentist would clean for 15 alone). These are routine cleanings in 2 visits? NO ONE ON EARTH CAN DO A THOROUGH CLEANING IN 120 SECONDS! The speed cleaning staff openly argued saying they all could do a thorough job in 120 seconds. Unfortunately I had the work rechecked and my concerns were validated when I went straight to anothe dentist after the botched crown. Worst experience with questionable practice ethics. I miss my dentist in MD. Eckman family ripoff cavity factory payment center is what they should be called. ADA recommends ROUTINE sealing, but it’s clear they want the cavities and shoddy cleaning for a reason! 3 visits and Eckman still hasn’t sealed any of the 5 of us in the family! His dental work will typically have to be redone (we all have had to see other dentists as a result of Eckman’s work. Read around the web. I’m surprised how many others have these same complaints (actually not surprised, but maybe it cause I didn’t think they’d let you put the TRUTH on these reviews.

Was passing through town and needed some dental care done. They took me right in and did a great job. Awesome people and do great work. Wish my dentist back home was as good as these guys.

Been going here for years. Never had any trouble with the service or procedures, but what gets on my nerves is that Dr. Eckman and his staff seem to think it’s okay to openly talk about politics under the assumption that everyone agrees with them… not that you could argue or change the subject when you’re leaned back in the chair with hands in your mouth. Granted, if you want to blast «overpaid teachers» and «Obamacare» with your dentist, this is probably the place for you. I’d prefer my dental visits without controversy. Please focus on my teeth and maybe we can talk about the weather– not how you think climate change is a conspiracy.
