Scotts LawnService

This is my first year of receiving Scott’s service and without a doubt, my last. I’ve been completely disappointed with the health of my lawn this year and that is not the reason I have rated them so poorly. I’m was more disappointed with the way they manage service disputes.
I received an invoice for aerating and seeding in August and I thought it was an accident. I did not notice and sign my yard had been aerated. No plugs, holes, etc. in the ground and any other sign the service was rendered. I contacted an agent and discussed the situation and asked if it was mistake and to please have someone call me regarding the service they claim they have completed.
While waiting for resolution, I received many calls to pay for balance for the aeration service. After explaining my concerns to multiple agents and explaining I would pay for the service when it was completed, we finally got someone to return to complete the service on October 21^st. Well, that’s what I thought. The yard was noticeably seeded, but still not sign of aeration.
Today, on November 10, I received another call to pay for the disputed service. After explaining that the yard still was not aerated, the agent did confess the technician did note that they did not aerate on October 10^th. His explanation was that the service was completed in August and no need to do it again. There has been no resolution in my opinion and I expected a higher level of professionalism and consideration.
At this point I still feel my yard has not been properly aerated and I just paid for a service, and a $ 7.50 past due fee which I feel is entirely unwarranted, that I do not feel was justified to close out an account with a company I highly recommend you do not choose Scoots LawnService to care for your lawn.

Wow, just read these reviews. Wish I had read them sooner. I tried for the first time ever to use a lawn service and being that my name is Scott, I thought I would give my loyalty to Scotts Lawn Service.
I started the service early in the year trying to get ahead of the spring season. Each month they came out and when I got home from work I had noticed in the yard and a job ticket on the door. I couldn’t wait to see the results. Unfortunately the results never came, but the weeds did. A lush green lawn was never seen.
My wife kept on asking me after each passing month «when are the weeds going away and when is the lawn going to improve». I kept telling her to give it time. I should have listened to earlier to cancel the service. I finally did cancel, and I disputed the final charge do to poor service.
The the harassing calls and emails began. I spoke to the office several times demanding to reverse the last charge and asked to speak to a manager, but was never available and never returned my call.
After several attempts to resolving the issue, I gave in and made the payment reluctantly. It will be the last dime they ever get from me. I used to buy the Scotts brand product as well. That ended today.
So to anyone looking for a lawn service, please save yourself some disappointment and pick anyone other than Scotts Lawn Service. I should have contacted my neighbor across the street who uses some else. Their lawn looks beautiful.
If there was a lower rating that one star, I would give it.
Note to Scotts Lawn Service. Implement a company wide customer service training program soon. Also, you may want to change you Satisfaction Guarantee statement on your website. «We don’t just promise you’ll be happy. We guarantee it». I’m not happy. But your staff did guarantee that.

I was a 10 year multiple property customer. Every year paying my entire bill in advance for each property. At one time I had so many properties I was switched to a commercial account. This year an accounting slip on a single rental property caused my bill to go three applications behind.$ 105.00 total. I was sent a letter from a collection agency. Yes, I had not paid my bill by mistake but this made me upset. So I paid the bill and asked to cancel my service. Then a day later the commercial division guy calls me to ask why I am canceling. After telling him he then became the most rude person I have ever talk to. Telling me «you didn’t pay your bill and you’re mad at us». We get in a screaming match and I ask him why he would talk to me like this in a world of social media where customers can complain. His response was go ahead. I’ll find you online and tell everyone you didn’t pay your bill. This guy is being rude to a customer who manages 40 plus properties. On top of everything the yard has never looked worse. Stay away from this awful company.

I used Scotts for many years with very good results. But over the past couple of months the service and quality of the services provided went straight down the drain.
My lawn looks worse than it ever has. Covered in tons of weeds. Made many, many phone calls trying to remedy the situation. All I got was excuse after excuse after excuse. Finally dropped them as of last Friday 08÷07÷15.
I went with a locally owned service… who was «Johnny on the spot» this morning. They even rang my door bell to let me know they were out doing service.
So long Scotts… good riddance!

I wish I had consulted this page before paying for this service for 14 months. Still to this day have weeds! You call them for retreatment and they say give it 14 days, weeds still are present and then you give them 24 more days and they charge you again $ 55/​month and no results! Ridiculous! Called them today to cancel and they offered me a $ 6 credit… Really? Good riddance!

Horrible. I signed up for 8 applications over a year period. I continued to have weeds the entire year. They made excuses instead of ridding my lawn of weeds. When a service tech was at my house I asked about the contract being close to ending. He looked at the records and it showed they had squeezed in 10 applications over 10 months. I didn’t agree to that! $ 500 later I still have weeds and I feel cheated.

First time using a lawn service. Billed for application of fertilizer on Fescue lawn on ⁹⁄₂₃ that did not take place — no one showed on the security system and no evidence of applied granules (I personally core aerated the yard 6 days after said application with no rain in between and saw no granules on the ground or concrete areas). Reported it and Scott’s LawnService credited the account. Second visit on ¹⁰⁄₂₂ I was home and put the dogs away and there was no issue. Third visit on ¹¹⁄₂₀ they got fertilizer on the concrete pool deck and pool cover (I have photos). I consulted with Lusk Pool’s and they indicated that this will cause issues with Algae control and recommended draining the pool. Having to drain the pool and replace all of the water $ 250, salt $ 120, chlorine stabalizer $ 35, calcium chloride $ 40, sodium bicarbonate$ 35 and algecide $ 20. All totalled $ 500. Obviously I have cancelled the service. Thankfully I did not prepay for the service.
I spoke with the Service Manager from Scott’s LawnService (Michael Whaley) on 1÷9÷15 and he tried to tell me that the small amount of fertilizer that got in the pool is not an issue and I should be able to just shock the pool and this should fix it. I asked him if he understood what the Nitrogen does in a pool and he said no. I told him that I disagreed and there is no pool product on the market for removing Nitorgen from pool water except draining. Also heavily shocking a vinyl lined pool causes bleaching of the liner pattern.

Nitrates are no fun in the pool!
Nitrates are a matter similar to Phosphates, but of different origin. Their big similarity is that they are both a food source for algae. Nitrate is a plant nutrient and is present in all green plants and fertilizers. It is natural occuring and is found everywhere something is growing.
Nitrites (NO2) are a close cousin to Nitrates (NO3) and are just as much of a problem for pools, because when a Nitrite comes in contact with water, it easily gains another Oxygen atom to become a Nitrate. This additional atom gives Nitrates real stability, and makes eradication difficult. In fact, the only known way of Nitrate removal in pools practiced today is to drain a portion of the pool, and refill with water that is Nitrate free, if possible. Shocking a pool heavily will revert the Nitrates back to Nitrites, but from their once again, an additional Oxygen atom is easy to come by in a swimming pool filled with H2O.

Don’t waste your money. After years of service my lawn looks horrible. My calls go unanswered. The product and the customer service are the lowest of the low in terms of quality. I am still trying to get back the money I prepaid. They simply could care less. GO ELSEWHERE!

Worst customer service and techs ever. They serviced my neighbors property instead of mine. Called them out to look at browning, took 2 weeks. Local manger and number just route to their 800 call center. Zero local presence. They have a local manager named Cory, but he leaves messages with no call back number forcing you to call the 800 number.
Switched to a local company, with real people.
