Traded in all my old DVD’s, got a pretty good amount of store credit. Used it on some comic books. Their comics are sold at Cover price which is sweet. They also have a big selection of older back issue comics at a good price. A-OK, would recommend.

Eh. This place looks impressive from the outside considering its size, but you’ll quickly realize once you enter a large portion of the space is dedicated to media memorabilia. Remember Media Play? Yeah, like that. Their new releases are priced nearly at retail value, which is a shame because I can just easily order a new release Blu Ray from Amazon for $ 20 instead of coming to Moviestop and paying almost half more. Yeah, I understand the convenience factor, but because I buy so many movies, I’d rather just order online. The only real standout is their selection of older, used DVDs. You can score some good deals if you know how to look.

It’s the mother store so it’s large and has a pretty good selection. Besides the managers we always see different employees, but the managers are helpful and nice. If they don’t have anything in the store and they do in their warehouse, they will order it for you and give you a call when it comes in. The pre-ordering used to be worth it but it’s just not worth it anymore seeing as they don’t really get any of the cool new release limited edition Blu-rays. If you get the Directors Club card you will get 10% extra on trades-ins and 10% off of any used movies you purchase and it’s $ 14.99…it’s only worth it if you go A LOT. MovieStop is the only place around for collectors right now so make sure to check it out if you’re a movie fan!

I am giving this place a 2 solely based on the fact that I went to sell my entire collection of dvds to the store and they were very cagey about what I would receive for each dvd. I called ahead of time and was told«it depends on how many we have in stock and the rarity of the dvd.» Ok, sure. When I walk into the store– I asked AGAIN how much they pay per dvd because there is another store that buys them less than ½ a mile away. I am told the same story– depends on what they need in the store. They don’t tell you upfront because the company pays only $.23-.$ 27PERDVD. I sold 60 dvds and got a measly $ 17.20. If you prefer to get store credit you fare better– but I wanted to make sure others were aware of this. You’d be better off selling your dvds to CD warehouse, or via a yard sale or eBay. I’m so mad that I didn’t just take my dvds and leave the store. I just figured it would be the same everywhere else. I checked later on and CD Warehouse pays $ 1-$ 3 for dvds that are in good condition. Seller beware!!!

I usually get my movies from all over(best buy, walmart, target, etc), but I wandered into Movie Stop when I saw they were having a big sale a week or so ago. It was kind of hard looking through the movies in the sale boxes as they were in no order what so ever and I was starting to develop a headache. Not sure why they couldn’t have been in alphabetical order, but I guess that’s how they operate. The movies on the larger shelves were in a bit more order, so I eventually gave up on the sale boxes and chose an animé movie I would’ve cut my right arm off for. Now their animé section could easily have them at four stars, but when I went the other day to sell some dvds… that experience definitely dropped them a star and almost to 2. So I understand the dvds were used and they’re older movies but the amount they offered was pretty laughable and not even worth leaving the dvds. I understand people are digging bluray discs or whatever… but I’m sure the $ 4.00 cash they offered or the $ 19.00 store credit for 16 dvds was not worth it. Now I’m not sure what their buying rates are based on, but unless you really don’t want the movies, then sell them for a couple of bucks… otherwise you may be better off keeping them or donating them… I like movie stop, but I won’t try to sell anything to them again. I’ll just go hit up the animé section now and again and my favorite box office hits…

For a movie place that is so well-stocked of a wide selection of movies and product that is bigger then most other movie stores, I would have liked to have considered a higher ranking. Due to a poor first impression on customer service, I can’t say I am all that thrilled from my first experience. I went there for the first time recently and was particular to find a certain DVD. I had called ahead to have it set aside and was straight up told they had it and would hold it for me until the end of the business day. When I got there, I was really let down to find that the person was incorrect and the item was a possible refurbish and was not even in the store. So great selection yes, just if you have something in particular in mind that is hard to come by and if you want to call ahead to see if they have it, you may want to ask if they have it in hand to hold it for you before fighting the Barrett traffic to get to them. I feel as if I could have had a better experience otherwise.

As someone who hasn’t accepted the fact that it’s 2013 and people no longer buy DVDs, I can truly say that I love Movie Stop. As its name hints, It is basically Game Stop but with movies. They have a huge selection and their used movies are pretty cheap. I find a lot of films for $ 4 or $ 5 bucks which is great! I guess the only downside is that most of these movies are now able to be streamed online, but oh well. The customer service here is great. They try their best to go above and beyond to find the film you are looking for. If you are looking to buy a DVD, look here. They have a great selection… and after all, this store probably won’t be around too much longer. We are all going to start streaming everything.

I go here at least once a month. I don’t get to the theaters all the time so it’s nice to pick up a copy of the movies I missed at a decent price. The trade in option is cool too although the trade in value drops off pretty quickly. The staff has generally been very helpful an only once or twice in the past has anyone had a bad day.

Great place to shop if you are a movie buff, allot of the older DVD’s(withing the last 3 years are so) are only $ 2.99. They have previously viewed as well as new DVD’s, which in my opinion were a bit more pricier than just getting them off of amazon, or the like.
