Instruction and guiding for rock and ice climbing, backcountry skiing and mountaineering since 1985. Conceived, owned, and operated by R.L. and Karen Stolz, we are based in Keene, New York in the Adirondack Mountains — the east’s largest wilderness. Our services include private instruction, guiding and scheduled courses in the Adirondacks. We also conduct private trips, for qualified individuals, to destinations throughout the world.

We offer only highly-​personalized service, with emphasis on individual attention. We take a personal interest in your development as an alpinist and we will do everything we can to help you reach your goals.

History

Established in 1985.

Alpine Adventures is a small, family-​owned and operated company; founded by R.L. and Karen Stolz. We are devoted to providing an exceptional level of personal service and only the highest quality instruction and guiding.

Alpine Adventures is the most experienced mountain guiding company in the Adirondack Mountains and, on a consistent basis, more than 90% of our business comes from repeat customers.

R.L. and Karen Stolz are career mountain guides, each with more than 25 years of climbing, skiing and guiding experience. We have both climbed and guided throughout the world — in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.

Co-​founder and co-​director of Alpine Adventures, Keene, NY a year-​round guiding and instructional service for rock climbing, ice climbing, backcountry skiing and mountaineering serving clients from throughout the United States, Canada and elsewhere, with a wide range of programs, at beginning through advanced levels of abilities. Since 1987 I have guided rock and ice climbing, and mountaineering full-​time and year-​round serving hundreds of clients and students. Many of my clients have climbed with me for more than 25 years. I have extensive experience in the Adirondacks, Western US, Europe, and South America.
