Burger Bound Kearny

I have had about 6 times their Cobb Salad, it’s pretty good. I am upset that Burger Bound in Kearny has closed.

Food was okay but very poor customer service.
Was excited to see this new burger place open with some healthier options. Ordered a burger+shake combo. Followed the waiter’s suggestion of the black bean burger over the turkey. Got the double berry protein shake first. Tried it and could not get past the taste (and I’ve had healthy fruit+protein shakes before). My bf took a sip and also did not like the taste. Told the waiter I didn’t like the shake when he brought our burgers and he insisted on telling me how it was a «healthy and good shake» before taking it away.
The black bean burger was okay but had no seasoning and was a bit mushier than I expected. Description said 2 patties but it was one huge patty about an inch thick. The green sauce on the bottom bun really gave the burger all the flavor. Tried a little of the salmon burger which was better and also had the green sauce. Was going to ask about the sauce but forgot when we received our bill.
I had to ask why they were still charging for the shake that was barely touched before being taken away. The waiter insisted again that the shake was good and there was nothing wrong with the shake. He also stated that the only problem was that I didn’t like the shake — going on to say that if I didn’t like the burger and threw it out, he would charge me for it too. Apparently, to him, the customer is wrong unless he/​she agrees with him. I had to point out that I had no issue with the burger, that I simply couldn’t drink the shake because it tasted odd, that the cup was virtually untouched, and that I have had similar fruit & protein shakes before so it was purely my dislike of that particular shake. I also pointed out that he didn’t offer me a replacement or even water when he took the shake away but was charging me for the nearly untouched shake anyway. Only after arguing with him did he finally agree to take off the shake.
The food probably only ranked 3 stars. If he hadn’t felt the need to belittle my opinion of the shake & just removed the shake from the bill to begin with, I would have upgraded the place to 4 stars for customer service alone. The fact that the waiter decided that it was better to treat a customer so poorly made me wonder about the other location in Newark. That’s when I saw all the bad reviews that showed similar customer service issues and that our waiter was actually the manager or owner based on his picture in his replies to the reviews. In fact, some of the Newark location reviews are actually for the Kearny location because they only recently added this site on Unilocal

I’ll make it short and sweet. The first warning flag went up when i was not asked how i wanted my burger cooked (temp). I told him i wanted it medium since he didn’t ask. I was excited as i read many good reviews for their other location. I got the bacon cheeseburger and parmesan truffle fries. I picked up my order and when i got home, to my disappointment, my burger was well done and dry. It also tasted unseasoned aka flavorless. The fries were nothing to write home about either. Overall, it was a middle of the road burger joint. I doubt i will be back here. If i had to review it in one word it would be lackluster. ENJOY???

Amazing! Their turkey burgers are juicy and delicious! Love the truffle and parm fries! Finally a good burger place

OMG, Burger Bound makes the burger a delicious gourmet experience and a great place to hang and chill at the same time! Best turkey burger in Jersey! If you love burgers (beef, turkey, veggie) fries, shakes… this is the joint!

Pretty good burger at a good price considering its organic. I would definitely come back and try a shake next time.
