I had the best, most natural looking, partial highlight treatment from Mia. The price was extremely reasonable.

I had high hopes, but… for $ 50 and a $ 10 tip, I expected something better given the high reviews here.
Wait Time: I sat waiting for 30 minutes for my appointment, and I’d shown up early. When I made the appointment, I told Mia I had super long hair and would need a longer-​than-​normal appointment. After starting late, I felt rushed through the process because of the OTHER appointment (before mine) that had decided to get color and was still waiting to be finished after me.
Shampoo: There were parts of my scalp that weren’t even touched; it felt like the most rushed shampoo job I’ve ever had in a paid salon. By the end of the day I could tell where there was still shampoo in my hair that hadn’t been rinsed out.
The Cut: I brought a picture of the cut I’ve always gotten. I was clear that I wanted deep chunky layers and a straight-​across-​the-​back bottom of the hair. For the first time in 45+ years of getting my long, nearly curly hair cut, Mia blew it dry (completely straightened) and then cut it. I’ll never agree to that again (but I did agree, my bad, when I KNEW it wouldn’t work).
I have fly away, messy hair that isn’t cut to the curl and a deep v to the back of the hairstyle. While nice people, I feel like the decision to blow dry my hair before cutting was to get me «done» quickly and the lady with color back in.
It’s really disappointing. I think maybe this is more of a «color» salon and I’ll need to search for someone who can give me an exceptional cut to fix this.

I have been going to Megan for almost 2 years now & the most recent experience I had was my 3^rd strike. The last 3 times I went in, I was seen by Mia.
I will say that I am not always the best communicator & I can be wishy-​washy with my hair, but with that being said, in this industry (which I have been part of for nearly 7 years) you pamper your clients.
The first strike happened about a year & a half ago: I have dark brown hair & asked specifically for a yin/​yang type hairstyle. Split right down the middle, two different colours — I wanted light brown on one side & purple on the other. This didn’t happen. My hair barely changed colour & Megan did not offer to redo the dye job. She just laughed & mentioned it clearly didn’t come out. I still paid & tipped. I was NOT happy. If you are being quoted for something, you should be given that EXACT service, I probably should have walked away already at this point…
The second strike: I do not always walk out of here happy with my haircut. I think that the girls are great as people & have never had an issue with them on a personal level, but I do think that they are still learning how to run a business & operate in this industry. (Again, I have been a receptionist in this field, I have modeled, done make-​up freelance & been around the back-​end of pageants my whole life — not my first rodeo). ** I asked for chevron bangs (they fall into a V-​shape) before I even showed up to my appointment also — when I was finally in the chair, ready to go, Mia said she wasn’t comfortable doing it & wanted Megan to step in. This tells you something.
Recently, I got nearly $ 800 extensions in. Like I said — I have always had a communication issue with Megan, but always went to her because I like her as a person. They suggested I try extensions because I wanted a LOB & in the end, Mia did the application.
Regarding the product: they only told me I needed to order 2 bundles to get a lob. Somehow this ended up translating into a disjointed/​disconnected a-​line bob? If you look up a LOB & a BOB online it’s a pretty significant difference…
Turns out — 2 bundles wasn’t enough for a LOB, it was enough for the idea THEY had. I feel like a lot of research isn’t being done & they are just up-​selling products… What this tells me is that you are going off the marketing within your industry, but have no PERSONAL experience with the product.
I LOVED the product though & decided on mermaid hair. So I bought 2 more bundles to have applied.
Two things to mention right now: if you’re going to spend 135/​bundle on extensions, why would you cut off 8″ of it? I decided to go all the way.
Also, if you tell me that NONE of your other clients have had any issues & that the extensions should last for 4 – 6 months… they SHOULD last that long.
Within 4 days after the final application (4 bundles in my hair now), 2 of my «sandwiches» fell out. I later found out from Megan that they were not able to prepare my hair correctly because of the 2 days between applications. At NO POINT was I told that this would make a difference in the application process… but since both Megan & Mia seemed confident, I trusted them. Big mistake.
This is a good time to add that I listened to their instructions: I bought the suggested dry shampoo, I bought the brush they told me to brush (more money spent!) & I would press the adhesives together to reinforce them. I did also tip Mia for her trouble, even though this entire process was a nightmare.
Since the 2 «sandwiches» fell out — I wanted to move on, get them taken out & get a refund. The brand wouldn’t refund the used hair & Megan/​Mia wouldn’t either. The most they would do is refund the service fee of 150, leaving me with 600 bucks worth of hair sitting on my shelf. What good is that?
As an unhappy customer that spent near over half a grand in services, I sent several texts on the weekend. I was asked to not do that because they were trying to enjoy time with their family. I even got the whole «I understand you have a lot going on in your life, but…» line. Sorry, but if you own a business, you don’t have weekends off sometimes. I would know — I worked freelance.
Long story short: Megan & Mia are great people to be around, but they do not do their research. Also, as new business partners — they are not always on the same page professionally. Mia tried to be as accommodating as possible, but Megan not so.
They are a growing business & will probably learn a lot in the next few years, but they are still in the LEARNING process. If you are looking for a professional salon who will give you 100% customer-​satisfaction guaranteed, spend the extra $ 50 on every service so that you won’t be disappointed.

Filed with the BBB & Consumer Protection, was given a partial refund of the disputed amount. Pictures of the complaints posted on their website were deleted.

I sent my mom to Mia. She has light brown hair with highlights. My mom is very selective and picky (the right word) with her hair. I knew I was happy with Mia but wondered how it would go with my mom. Well, my mom loved Mia’s work. Mia suggested 2 tones darker for the roots and afterwards my mom was surprised at how it blended and looked amazing. My mom is no longer going to drive to Cypress to her former stylist. She will be going to Mia. I’m so happy because my mom would drive an hour and be gone close to 5 hours just to do her hair. She was out in 2 hours with Mia.

Mia did a great job with my hair! This was the first time in 15 years that I went to someone new, and Mia did not disappoint. She asked a lot of questions about what I wanted so that I got the look I wanted. I will definitely be back!

Mia did an AMAZING job — love my new ombré hair! The color is just right, the split end treatment (for only $ 30 extra) made my hair silky and smooth, and she took the extra time to curl my hair after the color and cut. Thank you Mia! See you next month!

I recently decided to find someone in the Katy area that could do better than the average men’s haircut. I stumbled upon Megan on the Unilocal app and decided to make an appointment. It was convenient to be able to schedule an appointment on my own time so that I could make sure I didn’t already have something planned. I texted her to make sure that she received my request; I have ordered take out online and an hour later I call to find out they «never received it.» She promptly responded that she did have me down for the time I had selected.
When I showed up on the day she was ready to go right on time. She listened to what I wanted and looked at some pictures I had on my phone. After asking a few questions she seemed to know exactly what I wanted. Megan is very professional but friendly and easy to talk to. I don’t think she took more than 25 to cut and style my hair, which I appreciated as I was in a hurry to get to another appointment (I never told her this, it just worked out that she is very efficient.) I’m no style expert, but my hair has never been so easy to style and it addressed every issue I had with previous uneven, amateur jobs.
To sum it up, I will continue to go back to Megan and recommend her to friends. She does great at men’s haircuts and is a serious trained professional. The prices are also more than reasonable. Glad to have found her!

I have been going to Megan for a year now. Not once have I left her salon even slightly unhappy. She does a fantastic job and I recommend her to anyone and everyone I come across who is looking for a stylist. She does great with color and her haircuts rock! I will never see another stylist. Oh! And her prices are beyond reasonable for her abilities!!!

Megan is great! She has great knowledge of hair, she definitely knows what she’s doing. She’s very friendly and I would definitely go back! I just got an Ombré, I have dark brown hair, and she put wonderful light brown to not make it so brassy and really does look blended in! Going back soon to get a Gloss Toner. Thank you Megan for my awesome hair & not so dull anymore :)

I’ve been using Megan as my primary colorist and stylist since she was fresh out of the Paul Mitchell school, where she was the top student. She is professional and well trained in color, cuts and general hair treatments. I can’t recommend her enough. Since moving to San Antonio, I have not found a better stylist, and it shows.

She did exactly what I asked for. Friendly and I love the closed room. Make sure you let her know what you want done when you make appointment so she has enough time for you. I will be going back to her.

This was my first visit to see Megan. Her working conditions are unique. She simply leases her own space to see her clients. Megan has proven that it isn’t necessary to work in a fancy salon/​spa to provide a first-​class service. After consulting with me regarding my desired look, she washed and conditioned my hair. Then she began to cut (using a razor technique) and style my hair. She uses top-​of-​the-​line materials. I am going back to a neat, longer, fuller hairstyle. She told me that it will take time to develop it. I was very pleased with my visit as well as the fee charged. I highly recommend Megan for your hairstyling needs.

I’ve found Styles By Megan thru Unilocal after I moved to this area and I must say that I am really happy that I don’t have to drive to midtown anymore to have a great hair care!
I am getting married soon, so having a long and healthy hair is a big deal for me right now…

I’m pretty far away from where Styles By Megan is located (I work in the Energy Corridor and live near the Galleria), but I won’t go to anyone else. She is very thorough and very reasonably priced. She really takes the time to do a great job and she’s great to talk to. Mostly importantly, I trust her. I feel comfortable telling her generally what I want (if I even know what that is), and then saying, «Do whatever you think will look best.» She’s the professional, not me, so in my opinion, she’ll know what looks best on me before I ever will. And not only is she great at what she does, but she really understands the chemistry of the products she uses and stays on top of the newest, greatest products. She was telling me last time about a new organic hair dye line that never fades and doesn’t have contain any harmful chemicals. And she NEVER tries to up-​sell you on them. Trust me, you won’t regret going here. I’ve never left broke or disappointed.

BEST HAIRCUT EVER!!! My brother in law was an amazing hair dresser for Tony and Guy and ever since he stopped cutting hair I’ve never been able to find a hair stylist to do what he did so fabulously until now! She gave me exactly what I wanted and sooo much more! First time I’ve gotten my hair cut and didn’t have way more taken off than I wanted she left the length as it was since I’m trying to grow it out and she even saw that my hair was thin and without even having to ask she did this neat cutting trick that I’ve never seen before to add volume and she put this volume powder in my hair when she was done!!! and as the cherry on top of it all it was really inexpensive for the amazing quality and she had great taste in music! Will never go anywhere else from now on!

Megan’s haricut/​styling super skills rocked my 10 yr old daughters world! She loves her new hair style and has not stopped talking about her new look. She went from tons of poofy hair to a super styling hair do. And as an added bonus Megan was friendly, nice, and professional. I agree with previous reviewer, «Do yourself a favor and give her a visit!» if you need a fresh new look.

Megan has been a hair blessing! She is a phenomenal hair stylist that has been helping me get my hair in check from a handful of years of using at home color! She is incredibly knowledgable and talented and has done wonders for my hair! She also is extremely knowledgeable about skincare and has recommended a great regimen to me.
