Learning Express Toys

I’ve been here on a few occasions. Each time I find something great for my little one, and the ladies there are always very nice and helpful. It’s a great place to check out while waiting for take out from the macaroni house, which I recommend if you’re in the area.

this store has great service! I come here for almost every holiday to pick up presents because my kids love all the toys in the store! When I’m in a rush for kid birthday party’s, I can run by and grab a presents! the manager is great she always helps me find toys and she makes sure I get what I need! Love this store as well as my kids!

Really impressed with the staff and overall selection of the toys! My niece loved the toys that the staff picked out for her based off of her age group! These people clearly love to work with the kids and know there toys! I also took my daughter to the Frozen theme night and she had a blast! and was cheaper than a babysitter! I love coming to this location cause it’s never too crowded and has the best service!

Love this store! Recently visited looking for a play kitchen. Greeted upon arrival and assisted with all my questions. The owner spent almost 30 minutes with me, letting me look through catalogs at all my options. Then she made sure I knew about all the upcoming sales and deals for the Christmas shopping season! Great place if you are looking for a more personal shopping experience!

This place in theory would be nice. It’s smaller than the big chains and has some cool stuff, although at a slightly higher price. However, the staff/​owner (?) are awful. A woman followed us around the whole time in a rude way, even though I told her we were just looking around and didn’t need help. I was even holding items that I planned to purchase. My toddler was not being disruptive at all. He tested a few toys that were out on the floor as if they were supposed to be played with. I was asking him which ones he wanted, which should have been a signal that we were there to buy something. (But really, who cares if we were just checking it out? Good business practice would be to allow someone to look and they will come back later if they like it.)
So, having been rushed out of there like we were a bother (there was no one else in the store), we ended up buying $ 50 worth of stuff for valentine’s day and a new baby. As we are walking out, I see a poster saying «Free personalized bucket (or tote?) with $ 25 purchase.» There were no qualifications on the sign. They also have it on Facebook after I went back to look. I went back in and asked the lady about the deal. She said it was for purchases with a «theme.» I asked if it had to be certain items. No, she said, anything in the store. So I kept politely asking about what she meant by theme. Like if it was for a special present, she said. I said it was for Valentine’s day. She just stared at me. I said, I guess I just don’t understand. She said, mmmhmmm. And that was that. Ok.
This bugged me. I emailed the owner who took a week to respond (and answered in the same convoluted way.) I went to return the items the next day because of it, with a different clerk and asked again what the policy was. She said the same thing. So you have to buy everything for a package theme present, like I did for Valentine’s day. Still not sure why we couldn’t get the free 10 cent tote, but it was the principle of the thing. I certainly wasn’t being rude or disruptive. Not sure why they would advertise a special if they wouldn’t honor it, and not sure why they would be so rude at the get-​go. There are much better independent toy stores in the Houston area that cater to their customers (who are, ultimately, the kids). Don’t waste your money here.

This is a great store with some really cool toys and things you can’t find at the big box stores. My kids really enjoy going to Learning Express and always leave happy. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 is that the prices are a little high. There have been occasions that I’ve seen toys there that I’ve also seen at Target for a lower price. Not a HUGE difference in price and I get it because they probably don’t sell the same volume as Target but, nonetheless, it still bugged me enough to knock off a star. That being said, however, we’ll keep shopping here. :-)
