Las Tarascas

I was so impressed the first time I walked in here and saw that the bar area was surrounded by Hispanic males (this place is authentic). Almost no one here speaks English which is why I knew the food would be amazing! This is not Chipotle! The food here is great! Their beef burrito (which is my go-​to) is fantastic! It’s huge and besides delicious fajita meat it also has avocado, Mexican rice, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, beans, onions – amazing!
The workers here are also nice. So why only 2 stars???
You see the first time I saw this place was on Groupon, I quickly rushed to buy 4. I mean who doesn’t love a deal?! I came in here and was first told they don’t accept the coupon. I assumed the cashier was mistaken because on the coupon it shows the name of the place and address. Then the cashier called her manager and the manager told her I needed to have a printout. No where on the coupon does it say that, and I was buying $ 40 worth of food and just wanted to use my $ 10 off. I asked the employee if she could call back the manager and ask if I could personally speak to her. I mean here I am with 4 coupons and I can’t even use one. When another employee kindly called, the manager got annoyed and told her that she’s already explained I need to have a printout and there is no exception. Then she hung up on her own employee when she was trying to explain my point. If a manager is going to disrespect one of her employees, of course she’s going to disrespect you. If you can’t handle talking to an employee or a customer, you shouldn’t be in a management position.

Drive by this place all the time and finally stopped in. Wow! We have been there 4 times within a month. Service is great and food is better. We had tamales the first go round and they are bigger than most tamales. We had pork, chicken, and my favorite was cheese and jalapeño. We have also tried the tacos and they were very tasty! This past weekend, we bought seasoned fajitas and grilled. The flavor was really good! Pick up some avocados while you are there, you won’t be disappointed. Superior to those in the grocery stores!

Mmmm… the tacos here are amazing. They are simple, delicious and inexpensive. Be sure to add the white cheese and get some green sauce!

This is a favorite of mine. The tacos and tamales are my go to item on the menu, so far the beef and barbacoa are the best meats I’ve tasted. The food is very affordable and you can walk away stuffed without hurting your budget. I can see how non Spanish speakers may find it hard to order or figure out the menu, but the cashier speaks English and will gladly explain how the ordering of food works.

Great meat counter with a nice selection and very clean! I haven’t tried the food there so can’t comment on that but very impressed with the grocery part.

Love Las Tarascas! The food is simple and delicious and very economical! Fun food experience to go there at lunch time. Can’t wait to go back!

Friendly staff and have everything you need for Mexicano cuisine. The restaurant bar is busy for breakfast and lunch.
Barbados is delicious and salsa is amazing flavor for tostadas or tacos.
Menudo is great as well and comes with all the fixings.
Best part? The Tejano music blasting the entire time! :)
Wish they had a few more grocery items Like fresh homemade flour tortillas.
Corn tortillas are great but you have to buy 30 at a time. Wish there was a dozen sold at a time.

This place is amazing. Best tacos in all of Houston and maybe Texas. Plus flauta Fridays are the jam! I have been here maybe 2 times a week for the past 8 months to eat for lunch since I work down the road. This place is amazing. Try their Agua Fresca!
The grocery part isn’t too bad. A smidge more expensive than Kroger or HEB. But I very rarely by groceries from here. It’s normally adult carbonated beverages and restaurant food. You have to go here!
Plus, it’s always a good time I there. The staff is friendly, the music is going. If you go at the right time, they’ll be singing in the carneceria in the back. The meat there is legit as well.

This the closest i have tasted to mexican taco and tamales in Katy!
The sauces green, red, and habanero with onion were excellent. I will definitely be back.
I had the tacos al pastor with cream. and a oaxacanian tamal!

Hands down the best tamales I have ever found! As was stated earlier, very plump and full of meat. They really rock! Yum!

The food is still as good as it was for my last review, and read that if you want a more detailed description. This update is to let you know that now they have barbacoa on the weekends at the meat counter as well. It was delicious, although it could have been seasoned more. Also, the lunch counter apparently cooks it all week, but since I tend to do takeout here I get it from the meat counter on the weekends.
